Wow!!! THANK YOU! all of them looks great but I will install the last two ones. All your videos are really really useful for me. I've learned a lot and I could improve my mixes quite a lot.
That Nova! It has also become my number 1. I had started experimenting with it before. Your tip that the thing is good to use for acoustic guitars is just right for me. In my tracks there are some nasty sounds in those higher regions. So a great tip, Thank you!
For me as a beginner I would start of with number 2 "MEqualizer", because of the visualization feature (which frequencies resemble which drum instrument). Later on I would switch to Nova, it looks cool and has a built-in compressor! BTW I love your videos!
Oh man, thank you for the info. I've been spoiled by Neutron on android with by far the best para EQ customization I've found anywhere, now I can finally use my PC to get my music close to where I like it
Almost passed on thid vid. Like "How useful could a bunch of freebie EQs be?" But fair dooz, this is both useful and informative. I hit Like 3 times ...
ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC! I was splitting a jack into my main external audio card to the lines and usb from the other. The lines were obviously off, since windows doesn't give a crap about audio anymore. TY for the heads up on the 3rd party freeware, as I was about to have to purchase another external audio card. I may still scoop one up though, just as a failsafe. Stay safe, and thank you once again!
Thanks again...I must be careful here otherwise I will not work on anything, just wander the internet collecting free plugins like they are star wars stickers when I was a kid!
I came across Nova when watching your mastering video. I use it so much now! It destroys the cakewalk eq plugin (which always did my head in, rarely used it) but this Nova eq is brilliant!
The cakewalk plug in within pro channel is really cool. Just double click on the little graphic display and it brings up a lovely big display including high and low pass. Also realtime audio display - nice.
Cheers Mike! Great video and a new list of free software. My top one free EQ is the one that is built in to Cakewalk by bandlab on the pro channel. That EQ is a seriously powerfull tool, and it dont use as much resource as a plugin EQ. Cakewalk with this pro channel is trully a unique and very powerful DAW.
@@CreativeSauce Can you maybe do a video strictly about Cakewalk ACT control surfaces setup? Cakewalk have some presets for controllers, but some of us MIDI noobs are simply too dumb to set up controllers manually when they dont come with a preset and we never stick our heads outside mackie mode. I have X-Touch mini and im struggling to set up both layers. I dont fully understand what is going on in ACT so im guessing allot of stuff, and there are many functions that I dont know. Your channel is the best Cakewalk userguide on TH-cam, and it´s missing ACT control surfaces episode :D
I already had TDR Nova but I didn't know how to turn on the analyzer thanks to you I know it now and it improves my mix thanks bro I subscribe to your Chanel and hope for more good content God Bless you
Hey Mike, quick suggestion for ya. Free stuff is inherently awesome because, well, there's no financial stake in the product! But I wonder how these compare to paid plugins...what do you get for that extra $10, $50, or $200? I'd love to see some of that context in future videos. Great content as always!
I have fancy plugins and they have their purpose but I still use Nova for a lot of stuff. Also Avid’s Channel Strip and EQ7 which come stock with Pro Tools are in all my sessions. Also been using Valhalla Supermassive (also free) a lot even though I have SoundToys stuff! Don’t underestimate free and stock plugins.
Just subscribed. I have 4 of the 5. Never used Marvel GEQ but now you've shown me how I'll give it ago. I upgraded to pro versions of Tokyo Dawn stuff. I've been using their free stuff for so long I decided to give them some money (there was a sale on!). I also use compressors like Kotelkikov, Molot & Limiter No;6 which are also free and sort of associated with Tokyo Dawn. I have way too many free plugins I think (or just too many plugins).. I am rebuilding my database and program manager and when that is done I can try out all the plugins I have (including the many things I haven't looked at in centuries). After this massive job I will cut down how many I use so I'm not slowed by "choice". All though I am a plugin collector (if it were hardware I'd need another house) one can become paralyzed by choice.
You mentioned saving your ears and speakers at around the 9-minute mark. I've had squelches happen to me because I don't really know what I'm doing. Have you done any videos specifically on what things to avoid in various parts of a DAW? Things that would suddenly blast your ears and whatnot, I mean. I think that would be really useful for anyone starting out, but I would certainly find it helpful.
From all indications, I love the Nova. Now I need to know where to use it from - is it a stand alone software or it has to be used as a plug-in in either audition or other audio software
Mike love you videos as always and learn allot! But isn't Cakewalk's Pro Channel EQ pretty good? It comes with a lot of presets I have used from time to time. Just curious your take on it.
I downloaded MEequalizer but after downloaded i couldnt find where the app was. Im kinda mew to these stuff and i was just curios how these plugins work and wanted to adjust the sound
I need help trying to find a good equalizer for my dule 15 subs with 5 in mid and 5 in teeter when I turn up the volume the sound starts to become distorted I have a receiver with a amp
Hello there. I'm actually looking for a 32 band graphic eq, because that is what I'm used to as a pa sound engineer. have you got any idea where to get it?
Hello, I tried to use Nova on my mac but after the install nothing appears in my apps or in sound settings :/ Maybe i need another app, i don't know, it's strange.
I'm on a mac and when I installed it, I also thought I couldn't find it anywhere. I searched my entire hard drive for Nova, and all I saw was the installer. Just in case, I dragged the installer into the folder where I keep my vsts (I don't keep mine in the apps folder) and opened my DAW, and the DAW instantly recognized nova and I was able to use it immediately. I think that it's possible the installer doubles as the plugin itself?
Best free eq is Toneboosters EQ4 can be run unrestricted on demo mode.only can't save presets but nothing can beat that for what it is you missed that man.
Your videos are amazing and very helpful! Thank you! I downloaded Nova. When I play my audio, the moving frequency bars do not show on the nova so I have to adjust the band just by listening without the visual. Do you know why this is the case?
Hi I installed your number 1 recommendation. It installed but there is no shortcut to open it and neither is there a file to open the software in the program files. Any suggestions? Thank you.
Hi Mike. I just bought a focusrite scarlett 2i2. When I installed it and went into preferences on Cakewalk to select audio recording and playback devices, it shows the scarlett but it is greyed out and won't let me click it. Any ideas on how to fix it. Thanks.
A couple of things worth checking. First, is Windows trying to use the Scarlett as its interface, rather than its your onboard driver? Have you installed asio4all ? If so, better uninstall, and see if you can get it working with native drivers. Is the driver mode set to ASIO or WDM etc? Needs to be ASIO.
@Tha_Blk_Bih_Destroyah_2020I am completely new to DAWs and recording in general. But have learned a lot from @Creative Sauce. Plenty more to learn but I am sure these great videos will help.👍
Read into something called fletcher munson curve, also something called earfatigue. Both of them will ruin your understanding of sound. you do not want that.
How about an explanation for people who don't know what they're doing. I downloaded and can't even find it. Says use with my favorite audio host. What the heck is that?
I love SlickEQ. The automatic make up gain is invaluable and it's great for adding a little high shelf on vocals around 12k. Silky smooth.
No one is saying where this plugs into? What is the best software to use this plugin for? with other word, where does it plug in to(TDR plugin)
Wow!!! THANK YOU! all of them looks great but I will install the last two ones. All your videos are really really useful for me. I've learned a lot and I could improve my mixes quite a lot.
Appreciate it so much sir😌🙏
Another winner!!!!
I can't thank you enough for the knowledge.
Soon as the world opens up and I can gig, I'll send ya some $$

More than just a list of eq's. Very informative, thank you sir!
For me as a beginner I would start of with number 2 "MEqualizer", because of the visualization feature (which frequencies resemble which drum instrument). Later on I would switch to Nova, it looks cool and has a built-in compressor!

That was not only a great comparison but was also very informative. Thanks for a great video
My pleasure!
I’ll eventually upgrade my Tokyo Dawn Records plugins, because those guys deserve my support. Their plugins are amazing.
NOVA is the best Eq .
After i using this EQ i love the quality of this product.

Something about the Nova plugin, it also support sidechain dynamic eq. U can't find it easily for free
Your reviews are the best!
Great job!
Super useful! Thanks!!!
I end up using the Melda EQ most of the time. Something about it is simple enough for me to do an adequate job with.
how to use this? i'm install on my pc but i dont know how open this app
I was looking for one with an analyzer. Was satisfied with the preview of the MEqualizer, but then saw the Nova and was sold. Thank you!
