Haven't watched the vid yet, but here's a brief comment to let Zane know that his ongoing efforts for us budget bedroom/hobby producers are much appreciated! Here's to hoping that 2024 brings huge channel growth for you Zane! 😊
@@eDrumsInANutshell Haha, 1 of the quirks of depending on free plugins is that, you can't just go & buy precisely what you need, & you are reliant on whatever they decide to put out for free, the quality or suitability of which are often varied. And so it is probably natural to want to collect every free option available to compare & choose which might be the best for you or a particular project.
Another free plugin I recently came across is the DR-84 by Pepto Audio. It’s a fantastic drum plugin that has a bunch of classic 1980s drum samples. Fantastic for Synthwave! Definitely deserves some love and hope it can make a future list!!
Out of this list, I've been using Analog Obsession plugins and they're all good, including the SSQ. Ozone 11 EQ is also really handy for all-purpose EQ, but especially the transient mode, which is really handy for things like bring out the attack in an acoustic guitar strumming track.
TDR Nova is hands down THE most useful plugin you will ever own. So versatile and will definately put a professional touch to your mix, especially if you split and multitrack your instruments. Highly recommended.
What is the definition of "tube warmth"? Yes stupid question but I've always wondered. Also your opinion of the SSL mixing console included in REASON. Personally I love it.
I had the Freeamp years ago but it was too CPU heavy. Maybe it's now been updated better. Back then it was useless and it was a shame because i remember it sounded so nice. Maybe i will download it and try it again.
Please, based on which plugin design or usage experience do you categorize a plugin to be best used on a single track, bus or the master track? Wouldn't a plugin work everywhere the same?
How the plugin interacts with the audio being delivered into it would be one way to help categorize if a plugin is better suited for busses or single tracks. Whether a plugin can handle stereo tracks would also determine how it’s used. A plugin will work the same everywhere but your desired outcome for how a bus is treated compared to how a single track is treated might be different so you may not want the same style of processing done on a bus. Or you may not want the same style on a single track compared to a bus. It really depends on what your desired outcome is. A plugin that you normally might use only on a single track might be what you need on a bus. It all comes down to what your desired outcome is. There’s no set in stone rule that says you can and can’t use certain plugins on just busses or single tracks. It’s all preference and knowing what you want your audio to sound like. Experiment with plugins on various sources and see what you prefer on different tracks.

Really nice! Do I have a problem, if I know all these plugins.
Damn. I developed a bad VST collection syndrome.

Nova is excellent and one of my favorites but is a bit high on CPU for me to call it a workhorse. I think that term is better applied to a stock EQ.
Great!
Please, keep making Tracktion Waveform videos!

Thank you for the lesson. Can you please suggest VST for audacity. Looking to change tone of my acoustic guitar recording.
