    I'm your dumbest follower - I'm sure. I love your videos, your subtle sense of humour, your clever and light-footed way of presenting knowledge, I understand every single move you teach, but as soon as I'm in my skates my brain goes blank.
    (I still protect this empty brain with a helmet in an exemplary way😅) 😆
    Grapevine or crab, it doesn't matter!...as soon as I want to move a foot, I don't know anything anymore! 🤔 Am I an isolated case, or is there reason for hope? I won't give up even if you answer that these cases are hopeless... I'm ready for the brutal truth😄😂

      I have found that if I make notes for myself, I can take those to the rink and “try” to recreate them. Some attempts are better than others!
      I think putting those notes in very our own terminology helps with learning the steps.

      I feel this, sometimes I’m sure there’s a malfunction between my brain and feet. I’m regularly watching my phone / tv at the same time as practicing in the lounge! 😂

      @@kjones2008 to be honest - i had already tried this and was extremely confused while I read my note because I was supposed to have at least 3 to 5 feet...
      ... ok, almost. 😆 But yes, I quit this way maybe to early. 🤔Thank you for reminding and for encouraging me! ✌😄

    Hey Coach! Hope your park skating is going well. Derby is taking up a ton of my time and I love it! I finally found my skate family.

    • @Skatie
      @Skatie  ปีที่แล้ว

      I have a huge respect for derby skaters. My park skating has slowed a little as I hurt my ankle (not skating) so I’ve been skating less to let it rest. But I hope to get back to it soon. It’s great fun. I’m so glad you’re enjoying your skating.

    • @Skatie
      @Skatie  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That sounds interesting. Can you explain it slightly more. Do you mean turning forwards to backwards then backwards to forwards whilst travelling forward? I have a version of this in the manuals drills video. I’ll link it. Let me know if this is what you mean.

    It’s still a Mohawk in figure skating and the foot placed behind is a Choctaw one is a C one is an S turn

    • @Skatie
      @Skatie  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have a video on the s turn on the way. The c turn is on the same edges and the s turn changes edge as you turn. They are both either open or closed - Foot behind or instep. So many turning options, phew. 😂

    I’ve been working on this, but from your videos it’s hard to tell when to put my free leg in front and when to put it in back. I thought free legs go behind for forward skating, in front for backwards?

    • @Skatie
      @Skatie  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You’re correct. That is usually the rule but for some of these turns it will differ as the leg will swing before the turn so it’s in the correct place for afterwards. Make sure to watch each example for leg placement. Some of these are really tricky.

    You’re assuming everyone can do 2nd and 5th position ballet on skates.

    • @Skatie
      @Skatie  ปีที่แล้ว

      The awkward, and then, the even more awkward positions. 😂. Unfortunately the turn is executed in these definitely uncomfortable and tricky positions. It is possible to place the feet wider if needed but thankfully there are also lots of other options for turning that are more comfortable. I have a couple of videos on transitions showing the other options.
