    As much as you abhor hanging and finishing drywall, it’s the sanding for me (when I was younger and able).
    My son had to replace all of his drywall from 6’ down due to flooding. I suggested using white synthetic bead board instead. Sooo much easier!!

    Don’t let the drywall win! You are correct! I’ve always felt the sanding is where it beats you. I’d rather throw away $200 in scrap than spend an extra afternoon sanding that crap. Tip of the day: Use 12’ sheets where you can. Does your drywall jack not have hooks for holding the sheets when you tip it up? Love the layout of that garage, gonna look nice when you get it done!👍🏻

    Early on I used to wet the taping. I just had a little bit of water to the joint compound mix it

    Steve, yep, I fully understand why you hate drywall.
    I built my 28x40 ranch home with a 5 month move in deadline. Took 4 weeks just to do the hanging and finishing of the drywall !

    To a fellow drywall hater, here is a little tip - and THIS really is a matter of preference - when your walls are more than 8 feet tall, most guys learn to put the scrap piece in the middle. This way the bulk of the sanding is right where it's easiest to reach - about waist-high. I don't mind hanging the stuff as much as the tape and mud and the SANDING (OMG, the SANDING) - So by saving the middle till last, you can use up your scraps and keep it all where it is easiest to reach. Instead some guys will do one horizontal layer and one verticle and not have that little strip to fill in - but you generate a lot of scrap that way whereas what I suggest uses up your scrap. That seem is all going to get covered with mud anyway... so might as well try to make it easier on yourself. Nice job, btw - just because we hate it doesn't mean we can't do it.

      Hahaha I’ve had a few people tell me that’s where the seam should have been so lesson learned on my end! I would say next time but I hope I never have to do this again hahaha

    Looks great man , drywall sucks. I am wondering about the can lights or wafer lights as you called them I believe. I am in the process of basically the same project in my garage. My question is what lights are you using and can they touch the insulation? My ceiling will be insulated the same as yours just wondering how you did that . Thanks and great job !

    • @GunpowderandFreedom
      @GunpowderandFreedom  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I used a canless light. Some people call them a “waffer light” because they are very thin. They can touch the insulation because they are led and don’t get very hot. I believe the next video is the garage door install and then the video after that is the lights.
