I walked Te Araroa with a matress pump (a cheap one bought on Amazon, no brand) and it's the item everyone laughts at and then envies me. It's such a luxury and you set up camp so efficiently with it :)
Super cool. I've learned to use map and compass in the mountains a few years ago. I must say that more than the compass, knowing how to read a map it is like opening a book. I have found that, If you have decent maps on your cell phone, that it still does the same effect. Having said that, if I am hiking alone or in really remote areas I'll print maps and take it with me. I use openstreet map (cycleOSM layer) or I use outdoor active to get my maps instead of buying them, but I do recognize that purchased ones offer more information.
Nice to read a new vlog. About your new lens. you can take a camera with zoomlens Lumix fz2000 with a zoomlens 24-480mm or a Sony RX 10 IV with a lens 24-600mm. It gives you more possibilities, I think. FineTour.
Hey fellow Brusseleir! 😀 Thank you for sharing these info, and also for the discount code… especially as I was willing to buy one soon. I'm also looking to buy a tent. Actually I was about to buy a Durston X-Mid 2 two days ago but the import charges put me off! Tent price: 226€, delivery: 19€, import charges: 130€. That's +66%! 🤯🤬 Anyway, your Bonfus seems interesting but way to expensive for me (usage & budget). They've a cheaper one but so little info/photos on their website! So no go. One more thing. Thank you for your part on the paper map & compass. I was a bit thinking about it but you made me realize that I would actually enjoy turning it into a game and learning to master that skill 😀
Just be careful not to solely rely on the flextail. I bought one and only used it a handful of times but the battery decided it was going to lose charge, regardless of whether it was being used or not. Hopefully yours serves you better than mine 🤞🏻
Never had a Problem ever, lasts 10 days and I always charge it before and during a trip from my reserve battery pack. I RELY on it completely. Love it and will not bother with anything else.
@@floordenil you do an amazing job, we really look forward to seeing your adventures. Do you know about the new 190km addition to the kungsleden by the way? Called the Lapplandsleden.
I’m so glad you got yourself a map and compass ! I was quite surprised to see you tramping across the Scottish highlands without them and that off trail on your Cape Wrath Video! Gutsy of you. Now go do a short course on map reading and land navigation! That will give you a lot more confidence in their use. Love your video’s! Keep them coming!
Where there is no trail a map and a compass is a great. Ignoring the fact that GPS/GLOSNASS etc can be switched off without warning. As you state in the video it is good to know what is around you.

I'm looking forward to the Picos video. I wanted to do the route with a few friends but found the elevation gain at the anillo quite a lot. I'm curious to hear your opinion

But what about item no. 6: The beautiful shirt you are wearing? Funny enough I bought the Flextail Pump in the beginning of this year and I also bought the camara lens some weeks ago. I'm superhappy with both as well. Oh and I'm wearing the rain pants for my bike rides, and yes they're great. I think maps a mandatory when you are on trails that are more remote. And I'm grown up with map reading because we haven't had smartphones back then, so it feels somewhat natually to me. Looking forward to your video about the Picos, those are on my list as well (such a big list, such little time).
hey floor, looking forward to your video about the picos. I've been there last year and it was reaaly impressive. I have a question about the tent. I had a look at the website and I was a bit confused whether you have to buy an extra mesh for the inside, or is it included in the normal duos 2 p? Maybe you can help me with that :)
@@lievenvergaelen415 I almost never wear gore-tex shoes! So my feet get wet most of the time, but having wet leggings is a bridge too far, hence the rainpants 😅
Have you tried sealskinz socks? I tried them in the Kempen this weekend, but one of my feet got wet anyway. Trails were aweful on the streek-GR Kempen.
The raintrousers don' t have a side zipper so you can't put them on while wearing your (well mine) big ass walking boots. This is a big downside that's not mentioned.
True! I forgot to mention that, sorry. They do have options with zippers, although it adds a little bit to the weight, of course. Still very lightweight, though!
@@floordenilhave you ever tried a rainskirt? I always find rain pants difficult because they get warm so quickly. You're always busy putting them on or taking them off.

Hey! In Belgium, we have a store called 'AS Adventure' that sells Cotopaxi. I'm sure you can find them online too, years ago when they weren't in stores here yet, I got my first fanny pack through their webshop :).
The pump sucks, people. You still need to complement orally since it has not enough psi. Pity those sponsored influencers don’t tell you this. Schaam je , Floor🤭
@@Nepomukje Bold to assume I would lie for some small affiliate money. I genuinely love the pump, even though I have to put in the big exhausting effort of blowing twice to get enough pressure on the matress (pretty sure all pumps require this). Have a good day, and keep spreading positivity, you’re doing a great job at that! 🌸
I've got the same and love it. After a long day on the trail it's nice to just plug thar in whilst I sort my gear. The deflate function is also great for compact packing in the morning. I'm going to try the padpal for 9g too. My flextail has done close to 1000 miles on UK trails with me though. I like it. Just because someone's got different views on gear doesn't mean they're trying to trick you.

I just got the same trousers yesterday! Truly amazing!! Love their sizing as well (I am quite short)
I love my garmin gps to hike, but always carry a map/compass. Looking forward to that tent review!
Love paper maps & tech too 😊
Interesting to see thank you. I've never found a durable set of waterproofs that work ☹

I think the bonfus duos is the best looking out of all of them. I ended up going with a durston, but only because I wanted a one person tent.
