Great video, thanks. Here in Scotland I spray my footwear, clothing, and tent with Lifesystems EX4 (let it dry before wearing) and I have never had a tick since. EX4 can be effective for weeks. I wear Smidge on my skin - a natural midge repellent. Good luck.
Bijna dezelfde fout gemaakt bij mijn tent! Wou de durston x-mid solid kopen tot ik bij het afrekenen opeens 108 dollar tax zag staan lol! Mijn broer gaat toevallig naar New York binnenkort en gaat hem meenemen voor me, lucky me! Anyway nice gear list! Hopelijk heb je genoten van de trail! Ben benieuwd naar de droneshots! :)
Beste 60 extra grammen ooit, worth checking out.
Hi Flor. Did you trek Skye? Is there a video coming? I just walked half of the Massiv and was considering Skye when I saw you were on Skye. Love your videos. It's funny because I was also looking into Peak of the Balcans. Looking forward to your posts!
I have a question about your Patagonia jacket - for how long do you have it? Is it always waterproof or you got also wet during some crazy downpours? I noticed you are never complaining about it and wearing it on crazy thru-hikes, so is it so reliable? :) Thank you!
It’s very reliable! Although I have to coat it with a waterproof spray for jackets between each thruhike, otherwise it lets some rain in on the shoulders :)
Hey Floor! Thanks for this video. I'm curious to know which backpack you liked better, the atom plus or the Mo. I'm buying an atom backpack and I can't decide which one to choose, so any input would be appreciated :)
Really enjoyed your video, as a hiker myself you do a great job if explaining everything but also the things you take like everyone else. Take care Floor groetjes Chris
@floordenil Were you able to use your standard screw-top gas stove on the Peaks of the Balkans Trail? I read that you can only find the puncture-top gas canisters in the Balkans? I am wondering whether to bring an alcohol stove instead of buying one of the heavy puncture-top gas stoves.
I’m curious about the fanny pack: I guess it’s worn in a different place to the hip belt? And it doesn’t dig in to your back? I’m wondering if it’s instead of a second hip belt pocket, or if it would work with two pockets?
It’s bigger than a hipbelt-pocket, so I can fit my camera in there :). Easier to acces as you carry it a bit higher, indeed! The chord on the back can be a pain in the ass if you put a lot of weight in the fanny pack, but up until now I haven’t had any real issues or frustrations with it :).
Hi Floor, I have a question about the quilts. Why have you decided to switch from EE Revelation to Hyberg? Are you satisfied with the new quilt? I am also considering Hyberg, just don’t know if it would fit me (I’m 171 cm tall, but sleep on my side and turn like a rotisserie chicken all night… 😂 Thanks!
Hey! I switched to Hyberg because I’m striving towards an all-European setup (most people here are living in Europe and I don’t want to inspire them to pay those big import costs, ordering in America). I’m very satisfied with both! I’m 1m75 and the Hyberg quilt is big enough for me (I sleep on my side and stomach), so I think you’ll be fine :).
@@floordenili just want to update, that I really got inspired by your gearlist and got the same sleeping mat (just in the version XLite) and the Hyberg quilt and I love this combo! Super comfy. Much thanks and can’t wait for your next journey! 😍
@@ForensickSVK Good to hear that more people are enthousiastic about the Hyberg. There is not much information on the internet. Which size did you buy? The L or XL? I heard that a quilt must be wide enough to protect you from drafts...
Hi! Thanks for sharing your list! Are these sandals comfy? Are they also ok for hiking? I'm looking for hiking sandals and wonder if this could work, coze they're pretty!!
Hey! These sandals are very comfy, although I would not recommend them specifically for hiking as they don't offer a lot of support. I have a new pair from Lizard now, still cute and more support!
@@adriaanrijkseI don’t! Sometimes I wrap it in these plastic things at the airport, but lately I’m just tying up the outer bands and checking the bag in as it is. So far, I had no problems with it! Let’s knock on wood now 🤞🏼 :).
@@jzcrossan She already schleps all that other stuff around, does it really make a difference at that point? More things than I'd take even on a regular non-hiking holiday, despite being a place where the next house is never more than 4kms away, often in multiple directions.

Glamorous landscape scenery, and really touching shots. Such a great presentation 👏🥾
So cool to see you making vids again! I also love that all your gear is mostly colourful!
Great to see your kit. Thanks.
Have fun on your hike.
Looking forward to seeing your videos if you post.
Happy Trails
I also recently bought an Atom Packs Mo and customized it with yellow, blue, and orange color. Love your videos and energy. Cheers from NYC!
Ahhhh we can go twinning if we ever bump into each other on trail! Happy hikes 🏔️
So glad to see you hiking again! Excellent kit list!
Hi Floor, thanks for the funny video.. I will start the Skye Trail next Friday. Hope I can watch your video before. Greats from Germany
Now you have to pack everything back up...thanks some interesting things sounds like you are prepared for all things
Solid kit! Ben echt enorm benieuwd naar de Isle of Skye video! Staat al een lange tijd op men lijstje.
Brilliant as always
I usually carry a lighter and a tiny ferrocerium rod as backup. I mean, it won’t brake and it wold work even after days in water…cheers!
Nice to see you again

very fresh and clever, very good to understand

Thanks for a very informative Video! How do you shower on the trail if you do not stay in the hut? Best Greetings! :)
Cool kit. I'm more a cyclist but would love live to hike especially with one or two people aswell.
The Solomon x ultra pioneer boots you list do not have goretex. They are not waterproof.
A goretex version exists but it’s not the pioneer
What camera gear do you carry?
you should put heavy things in the middle for balance

The fact that you've very slightly picked up a Scottish accent (particularly on the word "Scotland") is adorable ☺

oooooh gifted pack! Next: sponsorship!
fanny has a completely different meaning in Scotland.
Hello from France !
Do you check in backpack or take it as hand luggage on plane?
As I’m carrying hiking poles, I check my bag in at the airport!
Same here, hate the weight of the flightbag tho Do you use a flightbag or something? Thanks in advance!

How much litre is the bag?
50L!

Is all of this 8.5kg?
The baseweight: yes! So without food, water and the things I carry on me (my basic layer of hiking clothes and fanny pack) :).
Thanks! @@floordenil
Gortex doesn't work in cold, wet Scotland.
Aeropress is a must lol
Why don't you just use coffee grounds? Then you won't need the grinder
It’s tastier when you grind on the spot :). Personal choice!

I'd also include a collection of very small light things like safety pin, paper clip, bobby pin, needle and thread, elastic band, some string, etc.
