    The game changed for me when I bought my first benchmark dac. Never looked back. Whether mixing or mastering you will hear true sound and be able to make better decisions in the mix or master. Same even for headphones and headphone amps. Monotor headphone amp is widely used in mastering facilities across the world. Same thing here. You hear more true sound meaning you hear everything more detailed it this will allow you to make great mixing and eq decisions and will translate better in everything we listen to music in.

    I am wondering if you could review the Lynx E44 as well. There is no demos on TH-cam featuring this card. 10x

    Can you use the line in and out as two mono instead of stereo left and right ? Lets say to mix vocals and bass with outboard?

    I would like to see it used to record from a Kemper via spdif coax whilst also connecting a microphone preamp via adat for recording live drums.

      No problem. Also, since the Kemper cannot be a clock slave, it has really good sample rate conversion to reclock the Kemper signal on the way in

    My question...are you taking the audio from wavelab to usb play input in the hilo to the outboard gear back into wavelab to be printed ?you also said usb out but I saw your select in input of wavelab instead of the monitor section ?

    Ciao! Is it possible use only the Hilo in the context of mixing when using an external Teleger Creme RC? I’m running Cubase and can’t figure out a way to monitor the Line In only in a session of 10 audio tracks where only one channel out of 10 gets to be processed by the Creme RC at a time. Once I like the result per selected treated channel I’m supposed to render in place that track and move to the next for processions it individually for further render in place. Repetitive process for each channel. In terms of connectivity I went from PC to Hilo via TB3. From Hilo Line out to Creme RC IN and from Creme RC Out to Hilo Line IN. I can’t get it to work so that I only monitor the Line IN in both Hilo’s Headphones and on my Studio Monitors via Speakers output at the back of the Hilo. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

    I tried running this way with my Hilo. I run a mix out the Line out of Hilo 3/4 to my liaison. That feeds my analog chain. I have a better result when I run analog to the L2 analog in and return AES to the Hilo. I tried running like you did but no good results only going digitally to the L2 and back. Any suggestions?

    Hi, I have a Manley Core preamp that I use to record my voice by recording on Cubase 10 via the Lynx Hilo LT-USB converter. Can you tell me how I can best tune the "LINE IN TRIM dbu & dbv" and the "LINE OUT TRIM dbu & dbv" on Hilo? Thank you. P.s. On Cubase I record my tracks at 88Khz 32bit floating and I work the mix totally in the box.

    • @Doctormix
      @Doctormix  5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Simple! For recording just make sure you stay well away from clipping. Hilo works like a charm even with quieter levels. To be honest, unless you’re working with classical music, with a stellar recording room and incredible microphones, recording at 88-32 is pretty much a waste of memory and cpu power. 99% of the industry at any level works with 44.1 or 48 at 24 bit. There is a reason why that is considered standard. I’m just saying. C

      @XX-121 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      i don't blame you for doing higher quality recording. i see and hear some people on the internet trying to tell other people to record at 16/44 because it doesn't make a difference. i just shake my head and keep it moving. us old schoolers know that resampling 88.2 to 44.1actually has less chance of truncation errors than 96 to 44.1. hey if you got the processing power to run it you're not hurting anything especially if you're using digital effects to manipulate the recording, imo they're more accurate at altering a high sample rate file than a lower one. but like i said, to each their own

    hey does the converters have a good sound

    • @AnthonyMartinsRock
      @AnthonyMartinsRock 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Lynx Hilo probably has the LEAST "sound" of all up to its price range. That is what this kind of converter is designed for so that you can add the "colour" from each of the hardware that you put through it.

    • @DJURBANBG
      @DJURBANBG 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AnthonyMartinsRock how do you compare HILO to PURE 2 , do you think it sounds better ? tnx

    • @AnthonyMartinsRock
      @AnthonyMartinsRock 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DJURBANBG at this level, they both sound like nothing going in but when it comes to AD then back to DA again you will start to hear the signal degradation and compounded effects of "colour" in different frequencies of the various interface/converters. Hilo would be a more suitable choice vs the other if you are not purely in the box.

    had the hilo for a year and im getting rid of it : let me list some of the issues : well it release around 2012 so imagine the tech and improvements we got now with new converters , not saying its bad but i find it has a dated sound : the hilo also had issues with low mid frequencies lots of people mentioned it on gearspace it has a nice stereo spread but the centre sounds weak yes i know its clean and neutral converter other clean converters like dangerous ad+ has better base response than the hilo : it can sound very hard and does not clip well at all : the usb card version which i got is not powered by the hilo its powered by the computer its connecting too which brings up another issues people brought when using the usb the sound stage shrinks and lack depth and width but when used stand alone it sounds better : the good thing about the hilo is its routing and connectivity which is sweet but but there are way better converters out there that will blow the hilo away : if you are mixing in the box you might want something thats a bit rounder sounding to deal with the sharp digital sound the hilo will not fix it as it doesnt colour the sound it just adds more highs and wideness my apogee symphony mk2 will replace it

    I never understand this converter stuff, so you buy a couple of thousand pound converter and your audio sounds better allegedly ok then you record it to something and play it back on your average pc sound device which means if you hear better sound from that device you can make a vst plugin to get that sound and if you don't you've wasted money. And if it's just for better monitoring then you'll be hearing stuff no one else hears so how that can't be beneficial to anyone....

    • @Doctormix
      @Doctormix  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well this is not a converter that you buy for the average project studio. It’s got features designed for professional applications, like advanced signal path routing. You can’t appreciate many of its features unless you have a professional studio

    • @inlinescreamer
      @inlinescreamer 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      So true, I totally overlooked the routing.
