- There was a virtual uproar late 2013. Sway Calloway persisted as a devil's advocate instead of an interviewer which resulted in a misunderstanding with popular artist, Kanye West. On West's predicament, Sway retorted, "Or, why don't you empower yourself-and don't need them-and do it yourself?"
After watching the Shade 45 satellite radio interview, I tailed the sound bite used in its introduction.
(West is referenced for saying, "...people [are] so gay conscious, now." [after 15:00])
I found Sway's original session with Kanye West discussing an identical subject matter.

This interview is truly inspiring. Everything Ye said came into fulfilment, his vision was so clear. His drive and beliefs is what makes him legendary. Ye is definitely the GOAT.
i've always been a kanye west fan but i never really watched any of his interviews and its so crazy to see how he truly is always the same amazing dude whos constantly bettering himself, his art, the world, breaking the boundaries of the world thats been set up around us, and self-empowering whoever looks for the assistance. i can't wait to see what ye does in the next five years.

Ye is like a boxer. Doing this show was him getting in shape to create MBDTF. He wanted to get back to his underground Hip Hop roots.
Edit: Also this and many other interviews are full proof that fools always diss Ye then copy him a couple years later. He's easily the most impactful artist in the history of Hip Hop culture.

This interview really changed my life the first time I saw it yeaaars ago. It made me love and respect Kanye so much more. Just look at the parallel between this and the drink champs interview. Kanye really has been the same straightforward, insightful, hilarious dude.The Drink Champs interview should be more of an indication of how much of a visionary Ye is cause so much of what he wanted to do or predicted he would do ended up happening. Really is a one of a kind person
