    My neighbor has that tent as a beginner tent for his boy. He seems to like it. The tee pee tend a big plus. He waterproofed it and has good things to say about it. Very nice video you are the best spokesperson for camping equipment and i have and still use you as my camping instructor. Happy fathers day. Spend time with your children I hope they are well. I have so much camping gear now and I now camp in all kinds of weather the worse the weather the better I like it. Thanks for all the knowledge you have taught me. I have changed how I camp and I am getting pretty good at it. I don't want to stay home. I bought a big bucket of the emergency food that I take packs of food to use. Just to add to the food I carry. I am 72 years old and I have the time and money to camp and I am using you as my mentor. Happy fathers days enjoy your children they are a 🎁 great video. This show me that even at my age I can except change and camp be safe and enjoy the nature the good lord has given to us. Be safe, and happy

      I Iove this comment!
      I am in my mid 60s in New Zealand and I love getting out tramping and camping 🏕 here as well.
      I am also teaching my grandchildren hiking, camping and bushcraft skills. I learned them from my Dad and my Nana. ❤️
      Lone Wolf 🐺 I agree, you are an excellent teacher because you say what is needed and don't fluff around with superfluous chatter. 😁
      These bud are very easy to listen to. ❤️👍🏾🌳

    There is also a Lanshan1, and it is a double wall tent with a mesh inner. The Lanshan1 Pro is a single wall shelter. That's the difference.
    You can seam seal without the syringe. I've had other tents that needed to be seam sealed and I use a 50/50 mix of silicone and mineral spirits and a foam paint brush as an applicator. You set up the tent and paint the seams with the mix and it works great. More work, certainly, but it is very doable.

    • @Lonewolfwildcamping
      @Lonewolfwildcamping  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you, I wish for the price of the tent it was actually usable right out of the box, unfortunately it needs to be water sealed

    •  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, thanks for the video! Here are 2 explanation notes:
      1. - seam sealing - it’s not seam sealed by purpose… here is an abstract from some article about “why are ultralight tents not seam sealed by manufacturer”, tldr: it´s not possible - “…You don’t normally have to seam seal ultralight tents made with cuben fiber or silpoly (polyurethane coasted silnylon) because they can be seam-taped by the manufacturer. Silnylon tents can’t be seam taped because the fabric is too slippery and seam tape doesn’t stick to them.” So you need to use “sil glue” it manually. And it forces you to build the tent before you actually use it on the trail ;)
      2. - why PRO - they also have a “regular version”, which has a separatable inner mesh tent, is havier, bulkier and a little bit smaller. PRO version is more like “allinone” version. Very roomy in comparison to regular version.
      Thanks! :)

    • @Lonewolfwildcamping

      Thank you for the information. The tent leaks in the rain every time and the pro is really unnecessary in the name

    •  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Lonewolfwildcamping Hi! Yep, sure that it leaks (I know I have 3 versions of them :-D ), when it can’t be seam taped during manufacturing process. It’s just not something, that can be improved, it’s by design. You must do it on you own. That’s it. And yes, PRO in name is not needed :)) It could be whatever else, but it’s pro :) Who cares ;) Nevermind, thanks for great videos! :)

    Great review! I believe the reason they call it the Langshan 1 Pro is to differentiate it from the regular Langshan 1 which is a double-walled tent with a separate mesh inner. Also, based on my very limited research, the material they're using basically makes the seam tape useless(unlike the non-pro version which is seam-taped) which means they will have to seam-seal by hand using silicone I guess? I'm not really sure but I would certainly be willing to pay extra for factory seam-sealing. It's such a pain to do especially when you live in an apartment 😅

    Don't forget that Shires Tarptents and various other ultralight manufacturers require seam sealing and is often a $35 + option on checkout. But you're right about the 'pro' moniker. It reminds me of a cheap K-Mart brand we grew up with as kids...'Pro-Sports'. All their gear was anything but Pro 😉

    • @Lonewolfwildcamping

      Awsome, id love to see that as an option available

    • @EarlyMist
      @EarlyMist 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      To be honest Lone Wolf, is easy to seam seal a tent. Time consuming yes but with a small amount of finesse its easy as. But as you said...the word 'Pro' is a tad weird. Perhaps they mean 'Pro' as in if you're a professional ultralight hiker then they've given the option to seam seal or not...rather than adding 50 - 100grams of sealant which a lot of ultralighters would baulk at (not one of them btw...just lighweight here not ultra weeny).

    You can't hot press seam tape a silnylon tent, having to manually seam seal a sil tent is pretty standard for all ultra light sil tents, it's not unusual at all. Seam tape only works on cheaper heavier materials, that's why you get it on cheaper mainstream tents from a sports store or supermarket.

    The moniker Lanshan 1 pro is to distinguish it from the original Lanshan 1 which is double skinned. The pro is a single skin. Some might call it a hybrid because of the mesh at the front.

    Thanks so much for your excellent review (and mentioning the difference between the 3 & 4 season tent).
    The price for the Lanshan 1 Pro (3 seasons) is $170 right now. On top comes another $56 tax & other import related fees. Would you still consider that a fair value for this tent?
    I don't own any trekking poles either though may wish to use one (or two) on more difficult hikes. (I'd rather buy a pair than a "flimsy" carbon pole.)

      @@Lonewolfwildcamping The double sided silnylon can't be taped for seam sealing. It has to be manually coated with silicone to seal the seams and that doesn't make any sense to do when making the tent. It only takes about 20-30 minutes to seal everything yourself, so no big deal. All double sided silnylons have the same issue.

    You can't use tape on sil-nylon, it can only be seam sealed with silicone.
    I would think one of the reasons it's not factory-sealed is the cost: it'd probably be twice the price, as to be done properly it needs putting up, sealing, then left up for at least 12 hours.

    • @Lonewolfwildcamping
      @Lonewolfwildcamping  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It would be a far better tent if sealed from factory in my opinion. Not everyone is interested in sealing a new tent

    • @shabingly
      @shabingly 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Lonewolfwildcamping absolutely better, it's a proper pain in the bum doing it yourself (particularly if you don't have a garden like me lol).
      It'd also add an absolute fortune in cost. Even Hilleberg don't seam seal their sil nylon tents, although they say their stitching doesn't need it. Same was said about my Nordisk tent, but I still gave it a quick go-over with sealant. It's time consuming, but it's not the most difficult job in the world, if you have the room to pitch and a nice day.
      I wouldn't go near that syringe though. Just get some clear silicone sealant, a little white spirit to thin it down an a paint brush. On that tent I think it's about an hour's work then 12 hours drying time?

      Silicone spray is not an appropriate sealer for the seams on this tent. You need to use an actual curing silicone polymer. You can buy seam sealer like this, or simply dilute clear silicone caulk down in solvent (gasoline works) and apply with the included syringe. That will fully seal all of the thread holes for a very long time. Silicone spray is a low molecular weight silicone fluid that, whie repellent, will not actually seal the thread holes.
