Hey Marko, thank you so much for the helpful video! My Lanshan 1 Pro arrived yesterday, i ordered on the official 3FUL website including seam seal service. Cannot wait to pitch it up!
Glad it was helpful ! It really is a great tent. Have a look at my latest Vid where it stood up to a total battering from the wind ! Thanks for watching. Cheers !
I have been thinking of getting one of these tents for multi day treks here in Scotland. Been searching online for detailed reviews and this is by far the best review I have found. I have the Naturehike Cloud Peak 2 which kept me warm and dry at 700 meters in an absolute howler in Glencoe on friday night. Thanks for taking the time to do such a detailed informative review, im subbed.
One thing, I cant see the link for the guy who imports the tents you mentioned in your review, is it the same link as the 2 skin version you have linked too, cheers again.
Thanks Peter. Appreciate your kind words ! At the moment I really can not fault it. Although having used it through the winter I would think some may prefer the 2 skin version. I treat it more as a wind/rain shelter and don't expect it to hold any heat at all ! But so compact, ultra light and STRONG I really don't think you can go to far wrong with one of these. Cheers !!👍
Interesting and detailed presentation thank you. I have this tent, two years old now, and I think your (later) edition has some minor differences. The five bathtub corner pullouts on mine are bungee cord, not standard cord like yours. I stake them at the same time as the main guyouts, or sometimes afterwards. I think it makes more sense for them to be bungees because they are not instrumental in holding the tent up. Also, the stuffsack supplied with mine is a simpler affair, without the compression straps. I prefer yours, but I don't generally carry the stuffsack, preferring to save weight by just stuffing the tent any-old-how into the outer mesh pocket of my pack. I think you might be missing a trick with that OEM pole of yours - not only is it extra weight if you're already using a hiking pole, but it hasn't got adjustable length, meaning the tent is less versatile. Never used a footprint (with this or any of my tents) - don't see the point. Carry a bit of Tenacious Tape (or similar) for an emergency repair (never had to use it yet). Agreed about the supplied stakes - not long enough, certainly not for UK use. I use 3F UL 200mm Carbon stakes, not cheap, but really good and only 7.5g each. Sometimes I'll add/substitute a few fullsize Groundhogs if I think I'll be on mushy ground. The only mod I've made is to run an extra forward guyline (10g added) from the apex suspension loop, which stakes a bit further out than the door stakeout. This feels like it increases stability, and also takes some tension away from that flimsy 'ram's horn' thingy you mentioned. I admire your using this tent all year round - for me it's more of a fairweather tent even though I know it's capable of more. I bought it for stealthy local(ish!) lockdown camps during lockdown, a role at which it excelled, then I took it on summer wildcamps higher up, and I've been delighted with how capably it performs at this weight and price point. I give it 5 out of 5 for summer/fairweather use, and 4 out of 5 in more challenging settings.
Thanks. Yeah there are a few mods online, but to be honest mine doing great without. Great tent that can take a battering from the wind. ( See the 3 men and a rock vid - it was howling !) Cheers.
Hi Bruce ! It really has been quite a surprise to me how well it has done given the battering it has taken this winter ! May struggle with a dog larger than Chester to be honest ! But plenty of room as a 1 person tent for sure ! Huge front vestibule area !
It certainly is Dean ! Quite surprised it's taken this winters wind and rain without any problem tbh. Looking forward to getting out in a bit better weather now !!😁
Thanks for s great review. I bought and used the ls2 pro last year for the rob roy way. It was really good. I'm now thinking of swapping it for the ls1 xl which would be big enough and lighter.
Thanks Andrew. £ for £ and lbs for lbs the LS2 is worth having if you want the extra space. Saying that, I really try to keep weight down as much as poss and the LS1 Pro is super lite, easy to find pitch and plenty of space I find. Really depends what you want from your shelter ! Churs !
Really good video. Thank you so much. Keep going. I'm going to buy it, but I'm not sure about the footprint, is it worth 25 ponds more, is it really usefull?
Thanks. I think it's worth having the footprint. It helps to plan the position of tent before committing to its position and acts as an extra layer of protection. Everything just then hooks into the pegs for the ground sheet. Cheers .
@jakubs8499 Yes after a couple times learning setting up I can put up in approx 5 mins now ! Super easy ! Just make sure lines are loose to start with, pole is at right height, and then gradually tighten guy lines all around ! Cheers.
Hi mate, thanks for the review. I am thinking of getting one, however it's the seams sealing that puts me off. Did you seal it pitched or not? Have you had any problems with rain getting in? Thx.
Its easy. Pitch the tent and tighten all guy lines up. Dilute some builders silicone with some white spirit and mix to a "wall paper paste" consistency. Use small brush to paint over the stitched seams externally. Go slow but just cover the seam. Allow to dry for at least an hour. Cover the seams with a lite dusting of talc powder. Leave for another 20 mins. Check all dry to touch and bobs your uncle. I've had no issues with water ingress and its had some very heavy use in high winds and rain, Cheers.
Hi! I am looking for a light weight pole, (Lanshan does not have the 120 cm one in stock right now) Do you have any ideas, links to a sturdy lightweight pole?
Depend on how light you need it. You can get carbon fibre ones online ( eBay) or just pop into go outdoors for the OEX replacement poles. Not much heavier and you can cut down to size Cheers.
My first proper tent aged 62 , but am being a bit of a wosey and going to a campsite near porlock , would like to get the hang of wild camping but still need to master sleeping out , and food needless to say lost most of teeth and recovered broken arm cycling accident but still fit . Are there any big pointers re tent thee grounsheet is sticky side up , got that sussed what about mods , the bungee cord , will I need extra guys , am 6 4 inches then its buy a lighter rucksack , pad and off for a couple of days trial wild camping maybe even later this year . Even for a 7 day stay at a campsite I always pack too much .
Hi Richard. It's a great tent. Light and very strong. Don't forget to seam seal the stitching if you have the pro version !!! ( 30 mins after sprinkle some talc on the seal to stop it sticking to self when packed up) leave for an hour before packing away at least. Ground sheet stitches down but not really important. Mat does slip inside but you can get an anti slip thin roll from outdoorgearessentials.co.uk or put some thin blobs of mastic on underside of mat to stop slippage. Advise you use walking pole not pole as I tend to do sometimes in winter months. There is a mod with bungees you can do but never really found the need. Kit available from same web site above or you can just buy some. Take less than you think. Keep it light weight would be my advice. Just take essentials. It's not a package tour to Spain ! Jungle formula spray during spring / summer. I have a kit video up on here if you want to look. I now aim for base weight of 8/9kg but depends how far you want to walk. Thanks for watching !! Churs !
@@FiftyandNifty HELP PLEASE Had to abort trip to Exmoore on day 3 got a lift home from my cousin do came kindly tl collect me ,what a depressing farce . 1st at night busy campsite Burrow Hayes too noisy suvis and huge tents the tent seemed OK but a wee bit too small I'm 6,4 inches ,sleeplessness in tent is big problem . Then saw another field pitch 5 pound night up packed 40 pound ruck sack and arrived in wonderfully spacious field eth just water just me I thought to set up again, started to feel it should work , wensday ,then thought I'd sleep OK. Have emailed lanchan how can these issues be right also thf back wall tends to touch me when sleeping I think it is z bad copy of breathable cuban fibre ,thoughts advice wellcome especially when it comes to all important sleep.Felt depressed allmost suicidal back in this shit ole of place ,would ideally like to move to Exmoore but insufficient funds will I ever crack this?
Maybe you should have gone for the Lanshan 1 plus. That is a bit longer and a bit wider. Get guy lines tight gradually all around bit by bit so stops any flapping. Make sure set pole right height (120-125cm) to allow air to flow will help with condensation. I lower mine in winter though to stop too much wind ! Stick with it. You get use to it the more you do !! Churs.
I just received mine and totally took out that loop you mention at 10:15 could you measure how far down it is on the string from the top of the tent so I could re-tie it? With the string all the way slack
I just bought this, and set it up using your video. Clearest instruction I can find for this specific tent. Cheers!
Glad it was helpful. It's a great tent. Don't forget to seam seal it ! Cheers !

Yes good tents these.
Great review and pitching explanation... Thanks!

Yes agree more setup options with a hiking pole and do use one in summer when need vents lifted.
It's a great little tent for sure.
Nice. Good review, and very good info session at the end. Thanks.
Cheers Peter !

Now that's a pretty neat shelter option. Might be snug for both Otis and I, but sure like the vestibule. Bruce and Otis

I'll be dusting it off again soon.

@@FiftyandNifty I also heard that then it's easier to pitch a tent , because of perfect pegs position. Thanks for the advice.
