Thanks Adrian, we have at least another 10 filmed so plenty more on their way,the next one is on Sunday and you can have a vote on next weeks videos on the community tab.
I had no idea that proper English shoes had so many elements to them or that the repairs were so involved. Wonderful to see two masters of their craft in action. The best of British. Well done chaps
Thank you 🙏
A classic shoe that was ruined by that commando sole! But, that is what makes us all unique individuals! I hope he enjoys the fantastic work you have put into it! Thanks for sharing your work with us!
It would have been nice to know why he wanted the commando sole and to have had his feedback now that he has worn them. Antony 👍
Was his name Pip Schofield?@@shoehealer8853
Don’t know how this video came into my feed. Great insight into shoe repair! Well worth the half hour I spent watching
Glad you enjoyed it! We have not had a video do this well before so this must be why,TH-cam must be pushing it to new people. Thanks for watching.
Thank you for the commando sole have it back for few weeks now wearing it every other day loving it very good work
Thanks for sending them in Phillip, so glad you are happy.😊
Fab video! They're all set for the Winter now!👍 Leather soles are a pain in the snow and ice
Thanks David 🙏
Top job. Really good video too! I’ll bring my favourite Primark shoes in next week for a commando sole fitting!
Can't wait 🤣
Nice to see Anthony keeping his hand in, guided by Paul. 😂
❤❤❤
He was taught by the best 👍
What an awesome job you did with the Church’s shoes, I found your yt channel so interesting, now a new subscriber
🎉🎉🎉
Thank you 🙏
Your best video to date. Great to see the process from start to finish.
Thank you Wayne, glad you enjoyed it,next one will be out on Sunday.
What a fantastic video 😮 pure craftsmanship
Thanks Martin,glad you enjoyed it.
Fab job. Lovely to see craftsmen at work.
Many thanks!
Excellent video! This specialist is meticulous! He has knowledge of how this expensive leather is made! I think repair job is more difficult than making a new pair! I believe the repair job is more expensive that all my shoes added together!
Thank you Annie
Beautiful work. I used to get mine redone. Not to this calibre but lovely to see how it’s done properly
Thank you 🙏
Great repair, they look like new shoes now. Very enjoyable video
Thank you 😊
The shoes look good in the commando soles. Great job!
Thanks!
If you walk outside a lot in bad weather, that sole is what you want.
We thought they looked great, but it’s certainly divided opinion on here.
So what the customer really wanted was a pair of Tricker’s… you cannot blame him though.
Your absolutely right 🤣
Indeed, he now has what Tricker's specialize in lol
Commando???....ruined a bloody good pair of shoes....if ya want a sole like get some flipping hiking boots!!!
Great job. Look fab. I’d have gone for the natural finish on the heels etc.
Me too 👍
Beautiful job
Thank you! 😊
I have two pairs of Church shoes I bought in late 80’s, for around £150 each. Well worth looking after and repairing as they are £700 - £1100 now for each pair !!
Yes they are, we have another video out tomorrow evening, and the Grafton in that cost £1060 now.
top job , i must say they turned out alot better than i expected the combination is great
Thanks Dave, we have another Church video out on Sunday at 9am and you can vote on next weeks videos on the community post tab, thanks for watching.
Wonderful video, great repair.....two great shoe gents 👌👏
Thanks 👍
Great video, liked the commentary. The customer must like to hike in dress shoes.
Thankyou for your information clear and understanding Thankyou
You are very welcome
Beautiful and superb work!
Thanks Josh 🙏
lovely job on a really nice pair of shoes. I agree about the natural finish on the soles though; the all black look is nice but a bit of finished leather would really stand out
Absolutely right 👍
Brilliant video, have and have had several pairs of Churches shoes and would recommend then to anyone. Though why anyone would want a commando sole on a pair of black shoes, I cannot understand. Stout leather is what should be there. But, as I’m sure you’d agree the customer is always right.
You understand so well 🤣
I have Loake shoes/boots and have had commando sole put on them. Safer in wet muddy weather we experience in the a North West.
That looks great. Good work, lads.
Thank you, look out for the next one on Sunday, another two pairs of Church’s.
The textured black leather does lend itself to a more robust sole, I'd have gone Dainite, but the Commando does give you an 'all terrain' posh shoe. The video shows how much work goes into a good shoe restoration... I call it more than a mere resole. And with what Church's charge now, I'd want every single minutes wear out of the shoes ;)
Thank you, two more pairs of Church’s in the next one which will be out tomorrow at 9am. Hope you enjoy how they turn out too.
It is a great job you did there. If I lived in the UK I would ship all my repairs to you….
Thanks for your kind words Rob, another Church video will be out on Sunday and you can vote on the next videos on the community post tab.
Great video, thank you 👍
Thank you John, it took a long time to make this one so glad you enjoyed it. The next one will be out on Sunday, two pairs of Churchs and you can vote on next weeks videos on the community posts tab.
Great video very interesting and skilful thanks.
Thank you 🙏
That’s it Anthony 30 minute episode really enjoyed it to I like your presentation skills No faff Just info The Church shoes where perfect As you say they came out like a high end Rang Rover A classy 4 x 4 👍👍👍
I’m sure this type of video will increase subscriber numbers
🤗🤗
Thank you holymoly we will try to do a few more long ones......glad you're liking them 😀
Nice one Anthony, you're right about that box cutter, makes me cringe. Nice use of a stirrup, not many of us left using the traditional ways.Keep up with good work. (throw that flippin knife away)
One day soon 🫡
They look new 👍
Thank you, they will always come out nice when the uppers were as good as these were to start with.
@@shoehealer8853 I did a test walk tonight , Crockett and Jones burgundy scotch grain with a vibram cleated sole. Very comfortable straight out of the box. When I have time I'll do a few more unboxing of a few pairs I got this summer.
Brilliant video - really enjoyable to watch. How do you ensure the new stitches go into the old holes when you can't see the old holes since the shoe is sole up? Are all shoes sewn at exactly the same hole pitch?
I think your question will make a good video Mike. How do we...and how important is it that the stitching goes back through the same holes in the welt.
Glad you enjoyed the vid. 👍
Very good
Good vid
Great job as always. Just missing the pricing for these rework on your website. Full resole, heel only, etc... Anyway, looking to take advantage of the 25% 40th anniversary sale, but would still like the pricing for repairs 😄
Thank you,I fed your previous message back to the top man and I have the price for every job for the next 10 videos,if it’s not in the video it will be in the description. The sale will be on until the 13th,if you would like any information at all about sizing or anything please email or phone Ann at the shop, she will be happy to help. Thanks for watching, the next video will be out tomorrow, some Churchs from a vintage shop so think you might like that one.
lovely jubbly 👍
Thanks James
The natural look rather than the black ink for me .
Can you replace the Willow shanks with metal shanks on Trickers when I sent them in for resoles? I quite like the idea of having metal shanks instead of Willow shanks.
Yes, 100%, but you'd have to write it all over the paperwork you send in with your name and address on !! Would make a great video.....
@@shoehealer8853 I don't know if you've seen them, but you can get those metal spring shanks riveted on a wider fiberboard shank that can be sanded to the shape/outline of the willow one it replaces. I bought a couple, waiting for a robust shoe project to test them out in. Talk about belt and braces ;)
We had boxes of those, and I always thought my father had bought them cheap from a shoe manufacturer. We used to strip the steel shanks off and bin the rest ! I probably didn't realise they were repair components 🤣.
@@shoehealer8853 Damn, I thought they were a good idea. Easy to glue to the underside of the insole and might spread the spring of a metal shank over a greater area of the heel arch.
Had to see tradesmen using a hammer incorrectly
That must be a “pre Prada “ Church’s?
Probably 🤣
Their traditional shoes are about the same as they've always been.... the prices are more spicey now though!
Fantastic film,I love my church shoes 👞 Keats are orgasmic 😬
Thank you
Hi what’s the approximate cost for the commando sole an heal on a pair of Churches please?
The cost of this particular repair was £110 including postage as it did not require a new mid sole,if it did need one it’s an extra £10.
I’m considering having a few pairs done because I am unsteady on my feet due to an illness. I find walking on full leather soles lacks the traction I need to walk without feeling I need my stick. However I feel a bit daunted by some of the comments about ruining a good pair of shoes.
It’s all a personal preference, if you like it go for it. I saw them through to the end and they looked great, if you were going for the heavy country look. You could always do Dainite th-cam.com/video/c0lMfg20VF0/w-d-xo.htmlsi=nXM99Nj12ct-A38u or just add rubber cover soles for a bit more grip th-cam.com/users/shorts2DnRptxYBLY?si=7XL-7yFnZYyhdCQ_
This one may be of interest as well,as there is a bit of a weight difference if that will affect you Trickers Bourton VS Cheaney Avon R C Weight Comparison | Subscriber Q&A | Henry Vi Lite Sole

Many thanks for your advice. I’ll sort through my collection and be in touch.
Why would you put a boot sole on those!
Why not? Trickers & Cheaney have been selling them like that for years, Matlock, Keswick, Cairngorm
How much does the rebuild cost?
Cost of this repair was £110,if it needed a mid sole it would be £10 extra.
Should have kept them original 👍🏻
They were nice 👍
Ah Love men wi' thick arms. 🔥
I enjoyed this video but I could see you on a market stall with your patter and personality.
Lucky the market is next door then😂 thanks for watching
Top men gis a job.
Speaking as a ex barkers shoe worker those soles ruined the look completely
Iain I can only do as the customer asks...
Did you enjoy your time at Barker's?
Was it a good place to work?
£110 is cheap IMHO
Thanks James, compared to Church’s it is anyway, they charge £245!!
That’ll come off in 2 weeks like they always do. Starts at the toe & then that’s that.
No chance that’s coming off,it’s bonded and stitched on,what makes you say that?
Shoe not worth doing .and to a commando make the shoe heavy .
Don’t think many would agree with that, £110 to get a shoe back that almost looks new, and would probably now cost nearly a £1000 if they still made it.
Looks to me like you’ve ruined a really nice pair of shoes , almost made them into platforms , ruined them to my mind
The customer got what they asked for and we thought they looked great, but they could never be ruined, as they can always be changed to something else in the future.
