That's actually not true, before them both was Sweet Home. A Japanese film from 1989 made on a shoe string budget (Its available in full on TH-cam rn) and had a game released on the same day as the film, it single-handedly created Survival Horror (check out RagnarRox video on it, its super interesting)
@@CrackMiser494Sigh, Clock Tower was HEAVILY influenced by the films of Italian director Dario Argento, specifically his 1985 film Phenomena. No single film defined or created survival horror. Sweet Home wasn't even the first survival horror game. It was a game called Nostromo (1981) for the PC-6000 series that was based on the film Alien (1979.) The term "survival horror" wasn't used until the original Resident Evil came out though, since it was part of its marketing.
@@CrackMiser494I wouldn't say it was done on a shoestring budget. The special effects were handled by people who worked on Ghost Busters and would later work on Jurassic Park. It shows: they hold up quite well.
I’d say the original Alone in the Dark came closer to being an archetype for what resident evil would become.

1:09 shows Jennifer attacking Scissorman with the shovel in the garage. This is something like that added in the Clock Tower Deluxe Fan Patch, seemingly confirming that they are using this ROM hack for the enhanced mode!
1:11 shows Jennifer hiding in a bedroom with shattered glass on the beds. This is a cut area restored in the Clock Tower Deluxe Fan Patch, which further confirms they are including the Deluxe rom hack!
1:15 shows an example of a The First Fear PS1 scene that's being restored
They're not just using the Clock Tower Deluxe ROM hack. They got the hack's creator working on the game!
for the parts after 0:23 and thereabouts, it's cropped footage so they aren't showing a black box on the lower third for most of the footage.

Yes, the character Jennifer in the game has quite the resemblance to the younger Jennifer Connelly in Phenomena.
It was also influenced by The Burning from 1984

A true preservation of a classic that allows us to experience a niche game in its original state with some quality of life additions.
No overbloated remake that thinks boiling down the essence for a wider audience and having over the top graphics is in any way an improvement

They could've done a master chief collection sort of thing where you could switch between updated and original graphics on the fly. Guess that would've taken effort, though.

oh very exciting, never played it but based on reviews it definitely deserves a respectful port. Clocktower 2 and especially Ghost Head on the other hand are in desperate need of a complete rework.

yes, the creator got many ideas from Phenomena, if you notice ... Jennifer's name and appearance were inspired by Jennifer Connelly's character, Jennifer Corvino, in the 1985 movie Phenomena. Jennifer Corvino mentions she is vegetarian, while Jennifer Simpson refused to eat red meat.

We think it’s an original soundtrack for the game, so we have to wait for an official release.
It would be nice if they completely fixed Clock Tower 2 where the gameplay would make more sense.
So basically this is a remaster of the SNES Clock Tower right?
We know of at least three parts to this:
1. The original SNES game, completely unchanged except for being officially translated for the first time.
2. A modified version of the game with quality of life improvements, uncensoring, restoration of features that were left unfinished and unused, and so on.
3. New animations and songs, interviews, artwork, etc.
