I always thought the IROC & BUICK Grand Nationals (rare 87 QTY 547 GNX'S were two of the best looking USA made sports cars for 1987).

@@kevinroark5024You mean for their price level, right? What about the 80s Firebirds? Pretty much identical cars, especially the interiors.

Memories! I had one that looked just like that in 1987. I was 23, burning up gas, blasting 80’s music, working my a$$ off to make the payments & hit the clubs on Friday n Saturday nights. Great time to be young.

Refreshing to see OWNERS took really great care of their cars.
1987 I was just starting out in my job I was 21.
Went to a Chevrolet Dealership and looked Dealer lot full of these IROC-Z prices were out of league $20,000 plus.
I saw 1987 Camaro IROC-Z 2 weeks ago color was lemon meringue.
Looked great had glass panel roof.

I remember wanting one of these when I was in high school back in the 80s. They seemed so powerful and fast. I thought the old school V8s that they put in the Mustangs, Corvettes and Z-28s were the end-all and be-all of sports car performance. It's funny because the car I drive now (2023 Acura TLX Type S) will absolutely destroy all of those cars in every conceivable way. I do still love the look of the Z-28s from that era, especially the T-Tops!

Nice vid! Looks exactly like my 1985, same color combo with about the same milage. Of course, mine has the 5.0 TPI and not the 5.7. 87's 5.7 (225 hp) only had 10 hp more than the 85 (215 hp) 5.0...it was de tuned in 86 with only 190hp for the 5.0.
Good to see these cars bringing good money now.

Wow! Save for the fact it didn't have the obligatory lemon-yellow paint job, the IROC Z was a rolling time capsule, that harkens back to the day of the neighborhood pizanos, tearing up and down the streets ping-ponging from nightclub to nightclub, in that lemon-yellow nightmare, you had a black one or two here and there, with the t-tops off, and the obligatory wife beater, coiffed mullet... feathered to the 'T' with the Italian horn necklace, top speed… blaring the Aldo Nova, I guess for some, those were the days.

Nice car, but sold. That said, this is a semi-rich man's car. $55K for an American in 87? I remember those days. The American quality wasn't the best, so it's best to have another $10K set aside for repairs. I had a 85 Pontiac which the tranny would not shift to the higher gear whenever it did feel like to. I had a Dodge Dynasty which used to JERK shift whenever it felt like to. Aside from the American glitches, I love the IROC and the RS of those days. I like the RS even better. They looked a little cleaner.

Always had a soft spot for these but hate that only automatics can be found. Still, this is a really clean example.

You're very welcome! Glad you liked the short! The full video actually should have been out before 5 today but sadly we lost power and that set us back a little.
