Alan...good video. I worked unloading freight out of trucks for 15 years. And while i am no strongman athlete, it's stuff like this that i had to learn on my own through the years. You are absolutely dead on with this technique. It is not only good technique for strongman competition, but for guys like me who have had jobs that required you to be a human forklift at times.
Today after following Alan's advice, and spending 3 weeks practicing and gathering the strength, I was able to flip the tyre outside my GYM for the first time. I'm a very happy man. Thank you Alan!
Just one word - wow! I have been unsuccessfully trying to flip a tire for months. Based on your tutorial, I managed to flip it on the second attempt. Thanks 🙏🙏
alan doesn't typically produce bullshit content. He posts actual information. I've been following since he was at 20,000 or so because he was the only channel thay wasn't over produced or trying to sell me something. anyone can grow a channel by making top 10s. But I don't think Alan the type of guy to pump out shit content/act.
+Yi Kv This channel is like an underground music artist before they go mainstream and produce dogshit. This is one of the top 3 fitness channels when it comes to legit/original information.
+김정훈 I like Rich Piana and AthleanX right now. There are lots of good ones but I only watch for entertainment. These 3 I watch for info/ideas. Elliot would be better if he didn't take a break and didn't act like God in every video. Right now Alan is #1 for info IMO.
+김정훈 Rich gets a lot of trolls and haters, but his like to dislike ratio is high because he is original and keeps it real. If you implement some of his ideas into your training even if you are natural, you will see results. He knows his stuff and isn't another fake wannabe like I see popping up a lot on TH-cam. His ideas behind eating not only make sense, but work. Look up his Mutant days (2-4 years ago). He provided a lot of info back then.
Excellent video. Studying for the NSCA CSCS exam and their written explanation of the "shoulders-against-the-tire method" had me confused until I watched this. This technique looks mechanically more like a sled push than a deadlift; makes sense and can't wait to try it.
I haven't been doing tire flips for very long. Glad I found this video before I really hurt myself. I already had encountered bruises on my biceps from doing exactly what you said not to do.
Awesome impromptu tutorial....hell, awesome tutorial period. I'm the guy trying to deadlift a tire, standing too close an' all that....so, this helps. Tried this method in my backyard with my tire and was able to easily beat my previous.....flip max?....anyway, I was able to add several flips/reps using this method. Thanks Alan!
hey Alan could you please talk about your after workout routine, static stretching, cooldown, etc? your warmup video is incredible I'd love a post workout equivalent thanks
You're my hero 🥹🥹🥹 tire flips got added to our PT workout, and I've been struggling with it for weeks. 😅😅😅 Of course, we only have a 200+ tire, so that also didn't help, considering that's well over my body weight. I'll definitely apply this next week.
new subscriber, this channel is extremely skilled at explaining why and why not things should be done, how to perform lifts and is very good at explaining things with actual factual terms. you, jcandito and massthetics should team up
Can't stress enough how much i need an answer to the question that follows> I understand that using a deadlift technique is not the most beneficial or safe in this case since you are moving a weight forwards and not from ground to hip. Weight shifting from heels to toes and back to the heels it s a standard sequence for some of the complex and compound weightlifting movements but what about for this specific case that the lift and the push focus on the toes from the beginning? Could that be too stressful for the knees? I m just trying to make it simple in my mind anatomically. Thanx a lot and many congrats to your inspiring work! Has motivated me a lot throughout my studying as a pt
Hey Alan, I've been following your beginner program (Untamed Strength Basic) and expecting to finish it in 4 weeks. What do you recommend as the next step? I have interest in learning Olympic lifts, do you have any recommendation for a beginner oly program? Thanks
The technique is great, always doing the flips like that. First time today since a long time, I always tend to get bruises on the shoulders the first times. After some days they don't show again after tire flipping. Is that normal? Thx for answering anybody.
@alan thrall Serious question. I just picked up a 200 lb tire and as a female - that will work well for me in training right now. I had been doing it "froggy style' like you say not to do. Problem is I can't do it in the way you show here because it's not tall enough. It's only a foot or maybe a little wider. No way I can get my body into it. Is the froggy style acceptable with such a smaller tire? When I try to put my hands outside my knees I feel infinitely weaker....
Dude i did a 165kg tyre flip for reps and got 221reps with no rest doing the "wrong way" - sumo deadlifting method. I weigh 76kg as well and i dont sumo deadlift. I will be trying your method soon. Probably go for between 300 and 500 flips next time. No joke. 🤘🏻
Hey! I am going to a competition where i'm going to flip tires. I was wondering what kind of muscles i should focusing on training. muscle groups and what kind of exercies I should do.
I just got my first tire and right as I got home I totally deadlift flipped it in my front yard like 5 times cause I was so excited to start this strongman stuff out haha
Hey Alan, just watched your Shouldpain guide! was really good and helped me alot (computer nerd) do you have anything for the neck also? have a good one!
Do you always kick through with the same leg? Does that matter? Or is the thinking that the main lift is completed by the time the leg kick occurs so this doesn't matter?
Hey Alan how would u know if you are plateauing due to insufficient volume or fatigue in which case you'd need to reduce volume... ? I never know if I need to de load slightly or increase volume !
Any tips for when the tire has sharp corners on the tread and it sits flush with the ground? How do you grip it if you can’t get your fingers under the knobs?
How does it work when trying to estimate the weight you are lifting at the bottom to mid part of the lift, as compared to the actual total weight of the tire? Is it like 1/2? Or a little over 1/2? If you do tire flip with a 400lbs tire, how much weight are you lifting off the floor, 200-250lbs?
Got any tips for the ensuing rubber burns on each shoulder after a session? Got some wonderful scrapes where my shoulders are making contact with the tire
+snatchclap i know right? Believe it or not I am, apparently I just consistently have the same spot on my shoulders in contact with the tire everytime I flip it, and end up with some sick burns
I was wondering, are you a kinesiologist or have a background in kinesiology? Edit: I ask because all of your videos seem very good at being aware of human motion. Something a kinesiologist studies.

You made it look so easy, wow that thing is heavy af.
This channel deserves way more subscribers than now
Whoa, only 120k? It deserves at least a million!

Same lmao

Excellent tutorial. It's only the second one I've watched on the tire flip but probably the only one I'll need.
Awesome video Alan! In my new gym a tire and this is super helpful

Still the best tutorial available on TH-cam on how to properly flip a tire 💪
Solid Advice. Learned something new! Thanks!
+Zachary Hale Comstock smart man!
+Zachary Hale Comstock They´re both correct, Booker.
hey Alan could you please talk about your after workout routine, static stretching, cooldown, etc? your warmup video is incredible I'd love a post workout equivalent thanks
Its great to see your gym busy. You are very inspiring.

This is what ive been searching for. Great technique
You are saving people from injuries of bad form. thank you.

Dude, this is so much better than like 90% of the other "fitness" tire flip videos out there. Are you a CSCS?
Best strength channel on youtube
Excellent instruction! I see so many do it the wrong way. They either can’t get to the heavier tires or are injury prone.
Excellent tutorial! Can't wait to apply it at events training this weekend!
Only video I’ve seen demonstrating it properly. Rip to those who refuse to learn
Amazing video that was some high quality form!
Alan should do a beard tutorial.
Great video! Can you do a review on your weightlifting shoes? Or more strongman videos? These are great
What's checking your video as I injured my biceps on the tire during my last strongman competition so good tips to avoid it to happen again 😉
what shoes do you recommend doing tire flips in, I have seen the shoe video but just wonderin, love your content keep it great!

one of my favourite movements. great info.
Thanks man I just got a tire! This helps out a lot!
Yes this is how it should be done. Makes it more easier and safer.
Again Alan, fantastic stuff!

Athlean-X
Do you always kick through with the same leg? Does that matter? Or is the thinking that the main lift is completed by the time the leg kick occurs so this doesn't matter?
Alternate your legs
would this be considered as full body workout?
If you had to guess what would you say? 😆

Does anyone know what the song is playing in the background during the tutorial?
if I don't have tires. What exercise can help me to overturn a tire?
Deadlift ?
Does anyone have suggestions for sets and reps for a tire workout?
Read this as How To Impromptu Flip A Tire.. like I'm gonna be walking around then just RANDOMLY flip a motherfucking tire lool
this gym looks awesome
I heard you get really close to the tire with a sumo squat to lift it. Is that variation also ok?
Just made my Spartan Races a bit easier and safer. Thank-you.
Excellent video! 10/10
Wow this video has really helped I was definitely doing it the wrong way
If my shoulder skin is rubbing raw, am I doing it wrong?
Hey! Where can i find a Tire? What Tire can a buy? Michael

What is it's a smaller tire and can't get into that form to lift
Hey Alan can u tell me where I can find a big tire like this? I live in Auburn Ca. Thank you for your great vids.
Check out this article I wrote:
www.trainuntamed.com/how-to-flip-a-tire/
I answer your question in it
Link in the description area of this video
+ptrainingbytim craigslist, here in az we have a training facility that delivers tires so that's pretty cool.
+Alan Thrall (Untamed Strength) Hey Alan my gym has the tires but should I start with a smaller tire and work my way up? Thanks.
explained very well
Anyone know how to clean these tires up? I got one but it turns my hands and clothes super black
The method is for bigger tire, right? Not for 100kg tire?
Nice video
Got any tips for the ensuing rubber burns on each shoulder after a session? Got some wonderful scrapes where my shoulders are making contact with the tire
+tcw295 Wear a shirt?
+snatchclap i know right? Believe it or not I am, apparently I just consistently have the same spot on my shoulders in contact with the tire everytime I flip it, and end up with some sick burns
Huh. Are you wearing a cotton shirt? I wonder if a slicker material would help.
I was hella wondering why my back and biceps were hella sore after doing tyre flips. Cause I had the wrong form
I was wondering, are you a kinesiologist or have a background in kinesiology?
Edit: I ask because all of your videos seem very good at being aware of human motion. Something a kinesiologist studies.
Thx bud!
All mighty beard!
The demo guy has some alright calves.
Wish I had watched this before hurting my bicep haha
I tear up my shoulder muscle doing that way
Shadows fall in the backround! \m/
Sounds like Shadows Fall in the background.
I did it with my back yesterday , now my back really hurts
Good!
I deadlift it every time 😅 easily 40-60 times per session
The beard guy is soo beefy😍
thanks I'm a mechanic.
how many pounds?
Oof, I have to do this in 30 min for a bet, I’m not very muscular wish me luck 👁👄👁👍🏼
The music version was much better. I'd prefer all tutorials to be musicals.
I love this channel, but fuck I hate that beard lol.
+Swole Diglett says the guy with a Pokemon name
Lol kinda like a white Elliot hulse
2:20-NEVER LIFT A TIRE LIKE THAT!I WENT TO SNAP CITY THAT WAY!
