I love watching your videos. I watch lots of artists on TH-cam but watching you paint makes me actually want to paint. I took your course and learned so much but lately the thing I think I’ve realized the most is that even though I Want to paint like Lena Rivo, I actually Need to paint like myself and eventually the looseness will come but in my own style. I so appreciate the inspiration you provide.
Thank you, Judy. I like how Andrew Loomis said about artist’s personal style in his book Creative Illustration: “If you do not allow yourself to be too much influenced by some single idol, you will develop your own technique in spite of yourself: it is bound be a part of your personal characteristics just as is your handwriting.”Page 98 Personal style really comes with practice and it inevitably will your unique style because every person is unique and how an artist uses paints depends a lot on his character, his preferences, taste and even his beliefs. Here’s what Andrew Loomis says about looseness in painting in the same book: “It must be admitted that the step from detail, once mastered, to looseness and suggestion, is extremely difficult. It is really much harder to paint loosely than tightly, for doing it either way must carry conviction and truth, if not literal truth. “ Page 100 To make this transition easier for my students I broke my paintings approach down to a few simple stages described and demonstrated in the course. If you follow those steps every time you paint, over time this approach will become your second nature, but it will not impede you from developing your unique style.
Hurray, I have been watching your videos again the past couple of days, so i am excited to see you've posted! :) Thank you for making these videos for us!
Bonjour Léa, quel dommage que vous ne faites plus de vidéo ! J'espère tellement que un jour on pourra vous voir peindre un nouveau tableau ! Revenez...
Hi Kelly, I haven’t tried casein because, just like acrylics, it dries permanently which means that once the paint has dried on the paper the painter can’t soften edges in the painting. Edge softening in one of my favorite tools/techniques that I use a lot in every single painting and traditional gouache allows me to soften edges at any stage of the painting.
this is so cute, I'm inspired , auto subscribe, Im glad I found your channel, btw is it okay if I copy your image, and using this vid as guide so I can also learn how to paint with Gouache? only for private purpose ofcourse
Hi. I admire your style and techniques, however I am more into oils and landscapes, and as a fairly beginner, I wonder if your techniques can be adapted for my subject and my medium?
Thank you. I paint with oils too and the technique I use with them is very similar yo this one, however you can’t expect from a slow-drying paint to behave like a fast-drying paint… This technique can be adapted for oil but layering with oils is trickier.
Am fascinated that you start some works with darks and then go light. That is difficult for me because the darks can bleed into the lights and change the color. Also painting the negative background last, to me, would be a challenge.
To avoid bleeding, you need to add less water to your gouache paints. When the consistency of your gouache is creamy and not fluid or watery, it dries before dissolving the layer underneath.
You paint light like a master.
She is!
Vivid colors and airy scenes full of light that one could almost breathe and smell springtime out of your paintings. Thank you😍❤️❤️🌻🌻🌻!
Thank you 😊 I am so glad my art resonates with you!
Just beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just amazing work! Love all the color shifts, warm and cool temperature. ❤
Wowwww how well you paint.i wish i could paint like you
You make it look so easy!

Lena, Have you ever painted with Casein? What do you think about it? Thanks

I Love your art. It's amazing!
I would like to know how many hours did it take you to make this sketch?

Which brand of gouache?

Лена, скажите , а у Вас есть какой - нибудь мастер класс на русском , или с русскими субтитрами?
