    Same setting and plugged into channel 2 on my MKII 1987x 50 watt marshall head. sounds the best of all my amps so far. Really thick and crisp sound. Love it.

    Hey Budda I love your reviews and the way you go through the eq. In the past when trying a new amp, I would just jump in with everything at noon, but I have begun using your method to find the amps true character. Thank you and keep the great vids coming!

    Sounds ripper, Budda! Really inspired you to get out those Led Zep riffs. 10/10. My rule is, if it says “Marshall” on the front and “Made in England” on the back, you’re going to be OK.

      p.s. the two channels were certainly so two people in a band could share an amp, back in the old days that was normal (until you were famous anyhow) - so lead & rhythm guitar, or lead guitar & bass.

    Ive never been happier with an amp than the studio vintage..i have the head...i run it it with the little cheap bugera power soak between the 2x12 cab and crank it..even at 20watts this thing is loud

      @@benallmark9671 it sits between the amp and the speaker cabinet..so out put of amp into the power soak/powersoak out into the speaker cab. Cheap little thing amd works up to a 100watt amp i beleive. Has 4/8/16ohm outputs so i can use it woth damn near any amp i have

      @birdsfabulous ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@benallmark9671 no problem..i have the Bugera PS1 power soak. I see them all over for about $100. Easily worth it. Not as nice as an Oxbox or that type of high end recording load box but definitly makes any amp playable even at bedroom volume...i have my marshall dimed right now practicing some hendrix. Good luck

    • @birdsfabulous
      @birdsfabulous ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@benallmark9671 yeah man...unplug your speaker cable from the amp..put that into the output of the powersoak. Run a new cable from the amp into the input of the powersoak and your good to go. Just match the ohms (i believe the combo is 16ohms internal speaker vtype) same as the head just with a speaker in the box. If your goinf to use a different cabinet like a 4x12 or 2x12 etc..u can always just use one of the extension speake outs. Now u will be able to jumper the channels and crank the amp to its full glory without shredding eardums. I think even amrunning the powersoak at full it still cuts the output down alot..right now im running both vol channels on the amp way up loud 1@7 /loud2 @9 and powersoak at#30..sounds great

    Isn't the plexi Marshall EQs like the jcm, that with all low/mid/hi dimed, the EQ does not affect the signal, i.e. the signal going into the EQ section is the same as what comes out with all at 10?

    Yeah, it def sounds like so many records, didn't know it existed. The amp I have is sort of AC-30 clone I imported from China, but it uses 6L6GC tubes, it pretty much sounds like a Vox, surprisingly. But with the gain way up it sort of gets a bit Marshall-like. Watching all of these videos and listening to tone. But wow, that amp sounds great.

    That is an awesome classic rock machine! I also struggled with head vs. combo, but ended up the head due to a good deal on a B-Stock product. How did you like the 10" V-Type speaker in the combo? Any plans on trying different ones or replacing it? I really feel if they had a 12" Greenback (or Creamback) there, I'd go for the combo no doubt.

      Got the combo, I did buy a used 112 greenback cab and it sounds way better.
      The stock speaker is good though, a bit midy and dark.

    • @yaniv-nos-tubes
      @yaniv-nos-tubes ปีที่แล้ว +3

      if it helps i had the class 5 and ive played the sv 20.
      1. the class 5 is made for the bedroom (no attenuator needed), great for practice, ok to record and small jams with a tired drummer maybe ,you can use headphones or dial it to 1 watt or less .a fun little guy in general that sounds a bit weird and mid centric at first but after ive swapped the speaker to a british greenback 10" and the preamp tubes to vintage mullards it was great. if you go for it make sure that you get the good version- where the tubes are arranged vertically (model c- 01,05 or something like that) like on most amps.
      2. the sv 20 is smaller ,cheaper or "scaled down" version of the magnificent 1959 super lead plexi 100w head. the sv is good for jams and small gigs but if you want to sound clean buy a fender. the sv is great for the studio as well. you will need an attenuator for home use or to add a master volume but as you hear in this video it sounds great even in stock form, in total a great bang for the buck , ide still swap the speakers and tubes (at least v1) but that's just me
      good luck!

    Why oh Why did they not put a 12" Greenback speaker in it. I hope now that Marshall has new ownership they will quit trying to ram 10" speakers down the throats of their 20-watt tube combo amp customers. They did the same thing with the Origin 20.

    • @yaniv-nos-tubes
      @yaniv-nos-tubes ปีที่แล้ว +2

      the origin is not even a proper amp and has nothing to do with classic marshalls .
      a 150$ british made greenback on that would be a joke and a terrible waste. if you want a small marshall with a 12" greenback that sounds great with no corners cut to make it cheaper....just get a 1974x or a 2061x, both are amazing handwired amps.

    • @robertcarey3383

      @@yaniv-nos-tubes Last time I checked the Studio Vintage combo he is reviewing is about $1,800 U.S. and putting a 10" speaker in it is joke. I wasn't saying they should put a greenback in the Origin but any 12" speaker would have been nice. My bigger point is nobody wants a 10" speaker in a 20-watt tube combo. I own an original hand wired Marshall 100-watt Mark II master lead 2 x 12 combo but it is unbelievably heavy and LOUD. I would also be interested in buying the Studio Vintage combo if the idiots hadn't put a 10" speaker in it.
