    We 🇦🇺 used to be proud of Qantas. Sadly the airline has suffered from many years under a management that regarded its employees, passenger service and updating of aircraft as expenses to be minimised. Hence the substandard meal service and old aircraft with worn-out facilities. Relatives of mine just flew home to Perth from Indonesia with LCC Air Asia having prepaid their luggage and meals. The flight was basically what you could expect in full service economy except for the seating being a bit tight. The meal, in particular, was delicious.

      It doesn’t matter if the aircraft is new. If the company is hell bent on saving costs, the experience will be the same, albeit on a quieter more fuel efficient aircraft.

    I first flew Qantas to Europe 30 years ago and loved it. Now it is just an embarrassment, as you have shown. They effectively offer budget carrier services for a full price fare. These days I will fly Singapore or Qatar. The Chinese carriers will give you this level of service for 30-40% less.

    Excellent video mate. I am flying out in a few days and dreading my upcoming flight experience. I only traveled via Singapore, Etihad and Emirates to India and via United to America, however in my last trip to USA I booked via Qantas with very high expectation only to find that it was probably the only below average experience, I have ever had in all my travels. My wife and kids flew virgin a few times and couldn’t stop raving about the overall experience 😢

    I recently travelled the same Sydney to Bangalore route, and you are absolutely right about the food, it is less, but they gave snacks couple of times I guess. My friend who was in the same flight with me expressed similar sentiment about the food(that it is less). Having said that, I will wait to travel in Singapore Airlines again (havent done that in the last few years) before reaching a conclusion, but I am sure Singapore will be better than this.

    minor correction of 00:37, new york jfk is only served via auckland akl, and rome fco and paris cdg are only served via perth per. there are qantas flights from mel to both per and akl though, so it's still a 1-stop only journey to any of those places.
    edit: i guess direct flights count too, just a clarifying point!

    • @ourtravelsa
      @ourtravelsa  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      you can connect from those places, but technically, syd-per-fco, syd-akl-jfk and syd-per-cdg are direct flights as they continue as 1 flight number. The benefits of this? Well, atleast for the perth routes, you dont have to transfer from domestic to international and pass immigration/customs on the way back at perth.

    Fair view, but I found the Syd-Blr flight to be comfortable and the journey was pleasant as I value the comfort of the seats, non stop route saving overall journey time, and cleanliness more important than a flight meal and entertainment (for me the flight meal is just a hunger buster and the meal is not bad at all). On contrary to the flights to India where there is a stopover,the flight to that stopover point might be great and the flight from that point to India is invariably horrible (cattle class if you get my drift) and that leg of Journey makes the whole journey awful. So I prefer the Qantas over the others if the price difference is not massive.

    Qantas got real greedy! they used to have an amazing frequent flyer program, however it has has now transformed into a massive joke! the booking system pretty much patronises its customers but selling them tickets for double what they would have gotten them for before their new “classic plus” scheme/ploy kicked in. The introduction of "classic plus rewards" appears to be nothing more than a scheme to offer regular seats at a premium, selling them for higher points and tax under the guise of exclusivity…. the same seats that one would have gotten using classic rewards years ago. The availability of business class tickets has become notably scarce…. pretty much non existent. I’ve never flown economy in Qantas, however I can only imagine how horrible it is! like I would literally prefer to travel with any other Oneworld partner airline.

    Qantas certainly should improve their service. They don't have advantages that Qatar and Emirates enjoy. Maybe they are happy that they are filling the seats on the routes they have and hence don't want to improve service on the India routes. seat supply is less than demand and hence the airlines control the quality.

    I went on this flight return to Bengaluru and then a transfer QF-6E flight to Kochi. I found it to be honestly just mid which is what would u would not want to expect for paying around $2,000/person return which is rather unfortunate to experience when you want to travel on the your flag carrier airline for the first time. Qantas was actually one of the top airlines in the past. Seems COVID was used to then CEO and management as an advantage to cut costs whilst maintaining or raising the prices due to inflation.
    The food was honestly alr but one thing I found out was non-veg was quickly over as the other passengers in front took the remaining. I was planning to take one veg and one chicken curry (I think it was) on the BLR bound flight. The crew really did had to explain and almost recommend the veg more than the non vegetarian. At least they were a lot more friendlier and chill than on the return (not rude but they didn't had the vibe but I think everyone is tired?) Also it seems the smaller snacks they give u out between meals seem to compensate for the lack of other things u would get from other airlines but I think they also do a bit of both?
    The A330 at this rate is used a lot and was been always used when flying long distance Asian routes. I feel tho the distance and age of the A330-200 (200 is used for extra range) would also limit the overall comfort and experience especially when flying for 12 hrs. Until then, I'll prbly would fly more w other airlines especially since I haven't tried SQ or MH from Australia atp and using QF points I used to book on partner airlines more. I would want to see the 787 flying into long haul Asian destinations including Bengaluru soon and prbly fly more then w QF.

      @@ourtravelsa yh would be pretty much interesting considering its frequency is getting increased (RIP Shanghai flights tho last Chinese flight for now). Soon A350s are moved into ultra long haul were the 787 currently is used, there could be a lot of potential for capitalising Bangalore as a stop-over point for connecting one world/partner flights to Europe or elsewhere in Asia similar to Singapore. Who knows if an A380 will come in considering how full these flights tend to get despite high fuel usage and the fact BLR is capable for A380 as seen w Emirates. 😂
