I would assume, cause i havent watched the episode, that she is in fear of retaliation (NOT PHYSICAL), of getting "punished" by her wrong doing (something that any parent would do, and all of us have experienced when we did something bad as a child, i persist NOT PHYSICAL) Thats, her understanding of "harming", even more if what Phil said about her wanting leverage control and power is real. She is "defending" herself, not because of physical or phsycological harm, but defending agains getting retaliation about her wrong actions and misbehaving, cause having retaliation would mean that she is in no control over them, and control is exactly what she seems to want.

I would like to argue that a minor should disclose information on certain topics like pregnancy. You are possibly bringing in another victim for abuse. She can file for an emancipation rather than lie, she would be better off. The laws also state that children must generally be 14 years of age or older in order to be eligible for emancipation (where a minor is no longer legally under the care of his or her parents). When she does this, then I believe she can hid her pregnancy all she wants.

I also wonder how she was able to do it.
Because she's a nurse and healthcare workers have to deal with resistance from people every day just to help them. I'm a med tech and have to convince highly resistant people to do things that are crucial for their health multiple times a day. Nurses are a thousand times more trained and skilled than people at my level and most of them deal with a much more diverse group of people in higher numbers.

I would like to argue that a minor should disclose information on certain topics like pregnancy. You are possibly bringing in another victim for abuse. She can file for an emancipation rather than lie, she would be better off. The laws also state that children must generally be 14 years of age or older in order to be eligible for emancipation (where a minor is no longer legally under the care of his or her parents). When she does this, then I believe she can hid her pregnancy all she wants.

I'm a med tech and have to convince highly resistant people to do things that are crucial for their health multiple times a day. I think Dr. Phil hit it on the nose with it being a control thing. She thought claiming pregnancy would be a get out of jail card with any problems with her parents.
