The bolt lock/catch sucks. Many TH-cam videos on how to improve the function/ease of use. I used a nut head from a broken scope mount and bolt/screw from the optic ring lock down, works so much easier now. Many solutions for this, again easily found on TH-cam.
I built one using the ARV builder's kit. Put 10.5" barrel and 9" handguard on mine. Bolt release is the one weak point. It does loosen up with break-in, but it still sucks. I spent $6 at Lowes on a brass fitting that I screwed into the hole on the bolt release. Painted the fitting black and the gun is now super sweet. Very difficult to beat. The longer barrel and AR type handguard on mine make it look really cool as well. Add your favorite reflex/red dot and the Scorpion mags. You can have your favorite. I'll take my ARV and cases of ammo.
I haven't heard of them until this video, it was a little hard to find on PSA's site, I can't find the build kits, but I'd rather do that if I could have a handguard I could attach something to. Where are they listed on the site? What made the brass fitting make the bolt release way better? I haven't seen the guts on one of these.
@cwmoreash I'm kind of curious myself about what he's talking about. I don't know if he means the hole for the bolt catch / release pin was out of spec and had to give it a tighter fit with a brass fitting or what exactly he means.
@@joshuabruce9920 OK, TH-cam apparently refused to post my earlier response. Maybe because I included links to PSA and Lowe's sites? Lowe's calls the fitting I used: Hillman #8 x 32 Brass Cap Nut (2-Count). PSA actually calls the build kit: PSA AR-V ESSENTIAL PARTS BUILD KIT. Get it while you can, it will backorder quickly. The bolt catch on the AR-V lower is very low profile which is great for no-snag scenarios, but it is also very difficult to actuate. It has a hole in the center which is threaded. I used an 8-32 x 3/8" machine screw, and Loctite to attach the brass fitting to the latch. This extends the latch and makes it quite handy. You can attach anything you want to the latch, as long as it's not something stupid. They appear to have a 10.5" AR-V with arm brace in stock. This is similar to the one I built. Note that on my build I used an AR Carbine lower receiver extension (tube) with a heavy buffer (7.5 or 8 oz, can't recall which is in this build). This came from my experiences building Colt mag PCCs. My AR-V works perfectly. Scorpion mags are great. You can also check out the Warscorp9 builders kit---if you can find one at a Wraithworks dealer.
@@tonyg8471 Thanks for the response, yeah I bet it was the PSA linking earlier, youtube gets big mad about direct links to stuff like that. I really wish I could do the PDW brace and mlok up front for a light.
I do have to say, the ARV is hit or miss right out of the box. You can see on the forums that many (myself included) had some failure to feeds from the right side of the magazine. I have the 8in version that looks more like an mpx than the mp5. After polishing the feed ramp and gently filing sharp corners on the bottom right side of the BCG, my failures stopped completely. I love PSA. I had that exact same model a year ago. I loved that it would take the same mags as my AKV. I couldn’t get it to feed a whole mag without some sort of failure, FTE, FTF, etc. Sent it back to PSA, they changed out the bolt and barrel, got it back, and still had the same issues. Tried CZ mags, the PSA mags, no difference. Different ammo types, still problems. I really really wanted it work. Ended up selling it at a loss to a friend of mine, with him knowing full well about the issues. He still has it, but it’s a glorified safe queen now.
So, fun fact for your friend. If you polish the feed ramp, file down the sharp corners on the bottom of the bcg, and use an extended pcc buffer weight, it'll eat all day. The first two fix the FTF and the weight fixes the FTE by slowing the bolt carrier down enough to keep it slinging brass correctly. Why PSA hasn't acknowledged these simple fixes is beyond me, especially considering many pcc's out there run near flawless at the same price point.
@@meatydeathstar91I did all of these things as well as sent it back to PSA 3 times. Mine flat out does not work at all. Single shot gun. I should have bought an AKV. Built one(well, modified with the pistol brace like yours, trigger group, and some other goodies) a few years ago...prolly one of my faves honestly. Its all standard PSA internals except the FA binary trigger. Got a Sig Romeo red dot, laser/flashlight combo on a pressure pad, PSA 45 round mags and mine has the MLOK handguard and its AWESOME. The home defense mag stays in it loaded with HP's, but its alotta fun to shoot at the range with standard target loads too. I feeds the HP's and FMJ's fine and I don't recall having any weapon related failures at all in over 600 rounds. Got a suppressor for it still in ATF jail so I cant say how it runs in an SD format, but I have a black moose 50/50 flash forward can on it for now and I really like this gun. Got mine cheaper as a PSA "Blem" and I couldn't find a mark or scratch on it anywhere and I stripped it all the way down.
I love PSA so much.. they are crushing it with all the amazing firearms they are bringing out . I only have one of their uppers for my ar15 so far and it’s great quality and their prices are unbelievable. I think I’m going to go for one of their aks for my next firearm
I’m very curios on the tripod with ball head that has a Picatinny or Swiss Arca rail that has displayed although this pistol had neither on the hand rail. Would love to see if this tripod can be used to zero in a red dot while locking in the pistol using the Picatinny rail of the pistol.
Like the look of the classic mp5 style front handguard, but I agree it needs a rail. A PDW that small I want a hand stop. PSA seems to listen to their customers. So hopefully they make a m-lok rail for it.
I have the 16" version with Mlok rail. I modified the bolt catch as stated above. Have 2 CZ Scorpions, Noveske and few other PCCs to compare the PSA ARV to. For a budget PCC it is worth the money and a good shooting weapon.
I really like how it looks. There isn't a lot of soul or style in guns these days, usually rails or mlok and glock mags and AR stocks and you end up with the same looking gun over and over. I like that the CZ mags being adopted more frequently recently because it keeps that mp5 style, and the handguard is awesome as hell. I love that. You don't need anything on it anyway, light up top is good enough, you cant put a vert grip on it as its a pistol, who cares. If you are using it for night vision you are a moron, im sorry, but its purpose is to be a cheap home defense gun, period. You don't need mlok all over it. Nobody is going to be firing this thing over a wooden barricade IRL. If its slippy, put some griptape on it. If you have to have every gadget and attachment, then buy something else. Very cool looking, as long as it works. I don't think id be a great fan of the mag release. Its probably going to work fine, but its not quite an MP5 paddle, and its not a button. Kind of one of those things you either love or hate, like the HK pistol mag releases. But I like what PSA are doing with these new designes. Very stylish.
When Mrs. Outlaw said “that’s a budget gun” I realized right there that I want a girl to be my wife who knows a budget gun from a non budget gun. My God this made me yearn for a wife 😂

Bubba is such a lucky guy to have such a cool aunt and uncle!!
You had me at Tri-lug adapter and Scorpion pattern mags. Please due a sub $1K PCC compression review.
I love PSA so much.. they are crushing it with all the amazing firearms they are bringing out . I only have one of their uppers for my ar15 so far and it’s great quality and their prices are unbelievable. I think I’m going to go for one of their aks for my next firearm
It comes with that brace for less than 9 bills? sweet!

I’m very curios on the tripod with ball head that has a Picatinny or Swiss Arca rail that has displayed although this pistol had neither on the hand rail. Would love to see if this tripod can be used to zero in a red dot while locking in the pistol using the Picatinny rail of the pistol.
I think the nephew's nickname should be Grizzly.. he doesn't have hands he has Bear Paws 😂
Aw man, this and the 9mm JAKL when it comes will have to go alongside the AKV I just got.
Isn’t this thing like a grand??
I want this, but with Glock mags. Very interested in seeing how it holds up though.
O views in 3 seconds? This channel is going downhill bro 😢
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Hype train derailed he had a good run but 3 seconds 0 views dont know how he can bounce back from that
😂😂😂
2,400+ views in 20 mins but a ass ton if comments and replay lol
LMAO!😂😂😂
Like the look of the classic mp5 style front handguard, but I agree it needs a rail. A PDW that small I want a hand stop. PSA seems to listen to their customers. So hopefully they make a m-lok rail for it.
Bro check the website lol, they got a version with mlock rail on top and bottom, I'm running a taran tactical hand stop on mine
For my birthday yesterday I got a Colt Cobra and a Glock 43x. Pretty good birthday haul!
@Stingwray11can it take any kind of 9mm relatively effortlessly?
@@nicorusso1526it can unless you add a threaded barrel and suppress it. Otherwise, any grain or brand of 9mm works.
@@georgefloydsinhellwbreonna5330thx. I don’t plan to make any changes right away.
@Stingwray11what brand do you usually use for the 43x
Totally asinine and obsessive that you not only have guns, you have to shoe them off. Little boys with little toys ...
say what you want about PSA but they give the people what they want and at a fair price. Mostly pretty good quality too
I have the 16" version with Mlok rail.
So we get this junk instead of the MP5 they were going to make
Don’t buy one. See! It’s that easy.
I don't have a lot of experience, but It seems like PSA might be a better company than people give them credit for.
When Mrs. Outlaw said “that’s a budget gun” I realized right there that I want a girl to be my wife who knows a budget gun from a non budget gun. My God this made me yearn for a wife 😂
I have three PSA guns and will definitely be adding more to my collection
I'm a fan of the PSA Scorpion mags, they've worked flawless for me and they're inexpensive.
