    I’ve been helping my grandfather put up pole tents all my life, 20x20, 20x30,20x40. I have 6 tents (2 of each listed above) and I’m starting my own tent rental business. My goal is to grow into a large scale multi-million dollar event rental business and build a legacy for my family, but I realize I have to start somewhere. This video assured me know that I have exactly what I need to get started. How did you start off with your pricing? I’ve been looking at local companies but they’re prices vary +/- $150-200.

    • @thetentguy
      @thetentguy  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I started way too low. I learned that just bring a little less expensive, like $10-20 less, than my competition, I would still get stuff out. I would price between a few competitors. Good luck man, and thanks for watching!

    Thanks so much for your advice I really appreciate it. I’m starting out where should I buy my tents to start? I think I’m going to start with pole tent. But I need to know if that’s a good idea because I’m getting a $5000 loan to start. Love learning from your video. I’m starting this summer in California so I don’t think I’m going to start out with side walls

    thank you for this video... how do you price your price tents? or dont you have a link that can teach me how to price tents, and add-ons?

    • @thetentguy
      @thetentguy  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I just get prices from competitors, either of their site if the have it, or have a friend call and request a price list. They say they are planning a big event next year, but don’t know what they need, and request a price list emailed to them.
      I do it this way, because it lets me know what the market is willing to pay. For things that local rental companies don’t have, I search neighboring cities.

    • @thetentguy
      @thetentguy  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That video was made before covid changed the game. But even still, I’m still getting them from Eureka, Aztec and tent renters supply for a good price. I also buy my stakes from a different company, not the manufacturer of the tent, same thing with everything else. Poles are from a different company, and ratchets from another, and sides from another. Basically there’s like 5 companies I use to get a complete set up. Manufactures charge the shit out of you when you order the whole package complete.

    • @thetentguy
      @thetentguy  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Either is fine. I prefer 8ft, but you have to take into consideration how you’re delivering and where where your storing, and if either of those will benefit from having the shorter tables.

    I hear what you're saying dude but what if you had previous knowledge of the industry in terms of what actually sells and what is in fashion?
    What if you had loads of experience in erecting tents especially for weddings and liaising with clients and so forth?
    I'm currently in a situation where I could start a business in an area that has only a couple of other companies. One of which does clear span and the other seems to only do tipi tents. Both do weddings.
    I have worked within the industry on and off for about 10 years. A few of those years being for a massive company in the uk that covers the entire country and fulfils huge contracts for festivals and county shows and then several years working for a smaller firm that specialises in doing weddings and everything associated with them.
    I have my eye on doing pole tents as I have a ton of experience with them and they are really popular for wedding at the moment in comparison to clear span tents.
    I really feel like I should try and corner that part of the market before someone else in that area does but am really quite worried about the potential gamble by trying to do weddings asap.
    I am fortunate enough to have space to store what I think I would start with so the overheads can be minimized to a degree and I also only intend on renting vehicles to start with.
    There are a couple of wedding fairs that are held in that area annually. Might take myself along to those.
    Your thoughts on this would be really appreciated.
    Many thanks

    • @thetentguy
      @thetentguy  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree with you, you know what you’re doing. The video was taking the stance of starting all over again with $5k.
      If you’ve got the money, and the know how, jump into weddings. You won’t have every weekend booked up your first summer, but the next should be. I’d still get 20’ and 30’ wides though. They will fill in the work week.
