Absolute genius, Chapelle show had such amazing concepts. This flipped reality parody of law and order is such a powerful and hilarious message of how much racism and monetary status bias the justice system has. The crack dealer being treated like a wealthy powerful white business man and vise versa really makes a valid point that there are different "America"s depending on what the justice system decides which "America" you belong to.
The show was a beautifully elegant way to introduce the concept of multiple perspectives in a laugh out loud comedic climate. Dave wasn't the only one writing this material, it was a bright, open-minded, and eclectic group of individuals that hit a grand slam on this short-lived series.
Not only that, but the guy Tron talks to on the phone, the prosecutor, is the gas station clerk from No country for old men, the infamous coin toss scene.

I'll have to watch again, can't remember if anything he said had me doubled over like his tv show. His new size eliminates some of the funny too. His previous build would make me laugh just seeing him. His more muscular build erases his subtle physical comedy.
Honestly it wouldn't be the same in today's era. It's best left the way it was (which is legendary) then what it could have been. Just like how *Key&Peele* ended on a high note.
That very last, high-pitched "FIIIIIIIF!" at 5:56 STILL kills me after all these years. Dave is nothing short of a legend.

Absolute genius, Chapelle show had such amazing concepts. This flipped reality parody of law and order is such a powerful and hilarious message of how much racism and monetary status bias the justice system has. The crack dealer being treated like a wealthy powerful white business man and vise versa really makes a valid point that there are different "America"s depending on what the justice system decides which "America" you belong to.
The show was a beautifully elegant way to introduce the concept of multiple perspectives in a laugh out loud comedic climate. Dave wasn't the only one writing this material, it was a bright, open-minded, and eclectic group of individuals that hit a grand slam on this short-lived series.
