Hi Chris, this is ongoing interesting especially for like minded senior citizens like yours truly. Especially your commentary Chris explaining what you're doing and thinking, and that makes it very interesting for us, additionally, no profanity is a big plus. I could watch this all day, thanks friend. Bob. NZ.
I'm sitting in New Zealand while hail smashes my roof and 90km hour winds try to take my roof.... feeling warmed by your sun and the heat from your logs. Thank you
It's really a pleasure to see how you take care of your 'toys'. They always look clean and I'm sure there's nothing wrong with the maintenance. Glad the Volvo is taken care of.
As DaddyBob says, your commentary Chris explaining what you're doing and thinking, and that makes it very interesting for us, especially no profanity. Watching you is as soothing as watching Bob Ross paint a nature scene. You are both very talented artist.
Hey Chris man people just don’t understand how much better it makes a pond look when you take all them old bushes and trees away from it, but anyway brother you got it go on your way and it looks damn good so you and John and your family stay safe and keep the videos coming now can’t wait to see the finished product of this pond.
Folks, don’t try throwing gasoline on a fire like Chris does with diesel. As you saw, you can actually put the fire out with diesel. Try that with gas and you’ll be on fire. Just a tip. Don’t risk it.
Right! Gasoline produces flammable vapors in temperatures down to -40 degrees! So it's never safe to throw gas on a fire. (It's the vapors that'll get you...)
I worked at a John Deer dealer once. My boss told me and another fellow to burn all the wood pallets that had built up over time. The pile was about ten feet high. The other guy that was helping got a big ole five gallon bucket full of gas and commenced to pouring it all over the pile of pallets. I told him it wasn't a good idea but no he wouldn't listen. I stood back about fifty feet and watched the dude light a match and throw it over his shoulder. The match never got close to hitting the pile. I watched the fumes come out and ignite. It blew that guy about twenty feet. It blew his hat off and burnt the hair on his head and caught his shirt on fire. The boom was so loud the fire department came.
I like the armor coated hydraulic hose. I like the way you use trees to lay down to get out farther to get out brush ecs. I thourghly enjoy all the video's and wait for the next. Th aerial shots are awesome so we can get the scope of the project. Thank you very much for the video's. 😀❤👍🇨🇦
This day you have a great work make the Volvo repair exactly burning morass to consulting. A snake to save and a great part to the pond embankment clearing. And consideration how you the next day farther works. A very good video, and glad my to the nearest. 👌
I am always amazed, no matter how many of these videos I’ve watched, at the amount of materials these machines can move and how detailed they can finish a job! Love this stuff!
Super clean is some good stuff, I comment about super clean to people all the time. It is also good for the environment. Sprayed on the greasiest of things and then you can just rinse it off. Wow, I sound like a commercial.
Its always a pleasure watching an owner operator work being a plant mechanic, I had about 6 months working on them 360's and used to work the controls like you. Watching a driver that does not own the machine is painful. Some of those guys are animals with 20 years experience.
Did that with a diamond drill coring rig only it sprayed about 10 gallons before we could shut it down . Wiped every thing down and it looked like it had been waxed . As we drove into the yard the boss was chewing everyone out over the look of trucks being muddy . He told them look how clean that guy’s equipment is . After it sat for a week and the dust settled on it ;it was a sight to behold.
I like the "armored" hoses you have on there. Your 220 sits in the sun 24/7, I can tell the paint is fading, it could use a good waxing, maybe hire Tim to detail the outside :)
Love the pond videos Man... All I can think of while watching these is... Conservation Management... providing years of enjoyment for the next generation... I can picture a kid with a bucket of worms sitting under that oak tree enjoying the outdoors (where they should be)... Thanks for sharing
*leaves bucket of diesel next to the fire* lol Worked with a guy doing this and he had a hand-pump weed sprayer full of diesel that was quite effective and reasonably safe. Then there was this one guy who used gasoline to start a fire and that was interesting. He knew what he was doing but it was a bit spooky all the same. Made a heck of a boom when it lit.
I keep a gallon sprayer with diesel in it when I want to start a fire. I have found that splashing diesel on my fire results in most of it ending up on the ground. A sprayer turns the diesel into a blow torch.
Tire with some diesel in it on top of a pile of branches a foot or 2 high. . -Stick a rag inside the tire and ight it , push the brush up around it with a dozer or loader,,,,,and then pray the EPA doesn't make you regret it. In Ohio you can't even burn leaves without having problems.
Watching these videos keeps me going especially on those days where everything and everyone is pissing a guy off, I operate a small excavating business so I can relate
I really like how you explain your thought process in what you are doing. I think this pond is going to end up looking really nice. Take care & cheers from 🐨🦘🥰
Get a cheap weed sprayer to get your fire started. Once you get a small flame going you hit it with a high speed stream of diesel and you can use it like a flame thrower. Doesn't take long to have a hot spot going.
from a job I used to work under 55gallons is not officially a spill so you fill the drum 3/4 full then poke a hole in it with some rough handling in the back of the yard
@@nathanscott7910 But they won’t chase people like the myth says. Looking at all the piles of brush you're creating here, would it be viable/practical to have a trailer you can haul around with the excavator for transporting more than a grappleful at a time? It wouldn't need to be much, just a box on skids with a handle at one end for the bucket to hook into. Just something to pack brush into before hauling it to the burn pile. Maybe save a few trips back and forth?
I find it very good to care about the environment, I care to. Talking about your hydraulic oil mishap. And I also find it good that you have a watchdog, telling you what you already assuredly have taken in account, and know the appropriate action. But someone is always there, as I am now. To many chiefs, not enough excavator operators. Thanks for the vids
Job is looking great Chris. Now I am just going to say a prayer for ya..seems like here lately when you burn something happens to your machine...lol.😬😂 Everybody join in...😉
You need to be careful when lighting the piles of dry brush, match and gas can. You could have been burned really bad. Many years ago my cousin did the stupid thing with gasoline and a match. Three times and ended up with a lot of scarring. Think twice before using a can of gasoline and a match close by. The pile of debris can wait. Please be very careful! ❤😮😅

Chris did have a video where someone gave him old "diesel" to use to start some fires and he found out it was part gasoline.....BIG WHOOSH
I'd be more tempted to start it campfire-style anyway, with a newspaper and increasingly larger chunks of wood until something major catches.
I learned to not play with gasoline and fire. When you light your hands on fire you learn quick.

A good fire and the Richmond race. A great Saturday evening.
I was watching you splash a little go juice on the fire it reminded me of 1985 that's when I spent 18 days in a burn unit. Be careful!
It was diesel.
Diesel doesn't explode like gasoline, it's a high compression engine.
The more I see of these pond builds and clean ups, the more I think I need to have my own small pond.
good job Chris, looking better already.
Love this little job like this and go man .
