*I love how the universe constantly reminds me I spent 80$ on Anthem*
Well deserved since you preordered
Well, the good news is you'll probably never have the opportunity to waste money on a Bioware game ever again.
@@rundown132No one deserves to be scammed by a company, regardless of when they buy a product. Even in 2019 there wasn't the massive backlash to preordering that we now have, it was, and honestly still is, a really common occurrence. I didn't have an opinion about preordering in 2019, but at this point I'm completely against it as a concept, that's how much difference five years can make.
11:07 correction, CP 2077's crash has nothing to do with expectations, in a sense it did delivery on what was expecting which is a compelling sotry rpg fallout style, but it was buggy to the point of unplayability, which could have been fixed if they gave the devs time to do so, even if CDPR are not known for making flawless games, people forget even the Witcher has a lot of bugs to this day
CP story was decent not great but when a game launches , I played it on pc I couldn’t get past a mission I got soft locked on tried it 5 times
Battlefront Classic Collection could've been an easy win, but Aspyr screwed up, if they delayed the game, people would understand, the only people that would get upset are those that screech at a squirrel or animal out their window, Aspyr is also no longer in charge of the Kotor remake, it's a different studio. Anyway Aspyr messed up, all they had to do was delay the game, but they decided to sell nostalgia instead and break the games worse than they were at launch, even the updates just break the game.
We dodged a bullet with the KOTOR remake
They already messed up the switch kotor 2 port
😊
GTA definitive edition was a grandslam and they fubar'd that.
Unfortunately the lack of X-Men in Marvel Vs. Capcom Infinite was all on Disney's Licensing Board. Due to bad blood between Fox and Disney prior to the later buying the former, the mandate from Disney was to allow no licensing of X-Men or Fantastic Four characters. This was the reason why Venom, Ghost Rider and Nova were in the game despite not appearing in the MCU.
Brink was, and still is, great fun to play. Thankfully the developers had the foresight to include AI bots so it's still fully playable offline. More games should do this.....
Bots are the only reason that game was able to have a heartbeat (fellow Brink lover here)
I'm shocked more don't know about Star Wars Republic Commandos. Such an amazing game.
Criminal it never got a sequel.
Aspyr are no longer making Knights of the Old republic, Saber Interactive are making it.
Saber Interactive? The ones who made the Halo remakes? I'm down for that.
I hate to tell you, but saber and aspyr are the same. And both under embracer. If anything aspyr got parted out to saber and other groups in embracer.
Great timing considering we are watching a surprise homerun be shot down by Sony in Helldivers 2
People are going to cry for about another week. After that, they will make a PSN account and then keep playing.
This is such a brain dead complaint.
Every multiplayer game requires an account sign up.
PSN isn't the first company to do this.
Buyers were warned from day one you are REQUIRED to have a PSN account.
Nothing bad is actually happening to the player base tho, its just reviews. Fake, white knight, review bombing. Unjustified
Then why did Sony sell it in countries they don't operate PSN? And secondly, they already walked it back. Oh and I say that as a PlayStation 5 owner. So don't even try calling me an Xbox fanboy.
@@DeadlyTinyOrc Are you really buying that? They had an account, it's called Steam. No need for PSN. And if you *need* an account for multiplayer how did we ever play Doom? Battlefield 1942? Or any of those other pre subscription games?
@DoofusScorpio Sony didn't sell it in countries without PSN.... Steam did. Steam's storefront is the reason it sold in those countries. Sony backed out because of the review bombing, even though 3 screens in, on PC it told you that you needed a PSN account, with a QR code to link and create one. I think Sony should have stuck to their guns tbh. To play MK you need a WB account, to play Smite you need a hi rez account, to play League of Legends you need a riot account, no matter what installer you used to install. None of these games tell you prior to purchasing/installation you need one. People just bitched because it was Sony
I think Forza Motorsport deserves a slot on the list. 6 months since launch, player count nearly non-existent, day one bugs being ignored by developers, updates that break the game, cars and tracks that are launched broken, singleplayer is devoid of content, Criticism being actively scrubbed from the official forums, and to top it all off, Turn10 blaming the community for the state of the game.
I was pretty excited for the reboot and then ended up playing for a couple hours one afternoon and never went back. Just blah...
Forza is a very niche game to begin with.
Did not BRINK also change the style and theme of the game losing a big chunk of the base.
I got the Battlefront collection for the single player stuff only, and i got to say i love it! Although they dosnt give the option to invert the Y axis for thw first 2 weeks which sucked. Other than that im pretty happy with my purchase to be honest.
Personally I have found 0 issues with private matches with friends also. (this was launch day)

Also, you can blame Disney for the failure of Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite. It was either their way or the highway.
Capcom had no choice but to do it Disney's way and Disney tossed the entire crossover franchise in the trash when they learned doing it their way wasn't profitable.
Wasn't just Disney. Was the fact that they couldn't use any of the Fox owned IPs at the time, plus Capcom trying to make extra cash with Dlc characters.
Me: wow, Jules makes awesome points
Jules: the American Revolution was a bad AC setting
Me: sweetie! Get my flintlock!
*INTERNATIONAL BALLISTIC TOMAHAWK INBOUND*
Yeah, I disagree with almost everything he said about AC3.
I had a friend who ended up passing away before cyberpunk came out. She had been hoping and hoping it would finally get made, would talk about remembering when it was first announced. Worked in a game store that I think even had some poster or cards made up at one point for a promised release date that never came? She passed away right before 2020, literally mid December of 2019. She never got to play it. Even had she lived long enough to see the release, she would have had to have endured that erap launch and indeed, how many other people didn't live to see things improve? I guess it was good she didn't see how terrible it was then but still. Fixing things later isn't always going to work and especially when they had been at it for as long as they were.
If it’s any consolation, some of these games, AC3, Cyberpunk, Titanfall 2, did either much needed improvements and/or people just learned to appreciate them over time.
Final Fantasy games character's likeness kinda been explained in FinalFantasy 14 :P.... "The Sundering" they called it one person soul been split apart into 14 soul parts (14 worlds).
So basically every character in the main line games are reincarnated into the next game?
@@barletproductions Think of it as Jet li's "One" movie Lol
@@barletproductions sorry, no they die and relive another life with hidden memories of past lifes while stayin on that World. OR the world ends and returns to the "Source world" with the "source souls". sorry for late late reply
As a big Star Wars Battlefront fan it hurts me to see Battlefront on this list but it belongs on this list 😥
Jewls is the only TH-camrr who actually called out Disney for the MCU move they did with the franchise. I salute u sir
What's sad is that Anthem is the best Iron Man game out there....
After the first season of Diablo 4 and i found out i had to rebuild my character after every season i was infuriated i had to put in another 100 hours every 3 months made me take the game out and never touched it again
THANK YOU JULES!
Fyi, Aspyr are no longer in charge of the Kotor remake. It was taken away from them by Embracer and given to Saber Interactive. Embracer have since sold Saber (I think to Saber themselves), including the IPs Saber had control of. The Kotor remake is still alive, but it will probably be a long time before it launches.
10:40 at least anthem only took itself out, but also PS4’s with it
Jason Schreier confirmed that Titanfall’s 2 release date wasn’t EA’s fault, but Respawn’s.
Those knowing the story of Respawn know that some of the key figures had been fired from Activision and formed their own studio. Respawn asked for the specific date because they wanted Titanfall 2 to compete head on with that year’s CoD.
The game had gone gold before that and marketing deals were set in place.
That’s when tragedy struck: Battlefield was simply not ready and had to be delayed and the latest possible date ended up being next to CoD & Titanfall 2.
Due to the marketing deals, Titanfall 2 no longer could change its release date… and the rest is history.
I hate EA as much as anyone (specially for cancelling Anthem), but I’m also not in favor on devs making bad decisions using publishers with bad reputations as an easy scapegoat, best example being Bungie with Destiny, for which after the split with Activision, Jason Schreier also said that most of the bad decisions made for Destiny were made by Bungie, not Activision.
If we ever get a remake of AC2+Brotherhood, I would love it if Rodrigo Borgia would get a new character model and voice actor…. Both in the form of Jeremy Irons.
This legend will always be Rodrigo Borgia to me.
I wish people would give battlefront classic collection a chance again. The updates have really helped it and it's actually fun to play now, but almost no one is online.
I actually found AC Brotherhood uncomfortable, and I completely avoided Revelation. So I ended up coming into AC3 with fresh eyes (aside from a clear bias toward learning about the American Revolution). Anyone who had watched Johnny Tremain and Little Big Man would have understood why a story about the American Revolution visa-vis Native Americans would never have a "lady's man" like Ezio, and simply played AC3 for what it was!
It's A Me, Ezio!😏
I uh...cant help but notice a crazy amount of EA/Bioware titles on this list.... absolutely warranted mind you but says something about EA/Bioware
Damn Jules, that AC3 take was bad. That’s my favorite in the series and that’s with me admitting how good it’s predecessors were.
the list isn’t how great the games are, it’s games that should’ve been great at launch but weren’t.
I remember everyone bashing AC3 when it came out. “worst ac game ever” most ppl said.
God I loved Sim City on SNES
The only issue with Cyberpunk was that it was forced onto the old consoles.
Titanfall 2 is a case of "vote with your wallet" in the worst possible way. People flocked to the tried and true game that they were already familiar with, since they get them every single year, and even if it failed we would have gotten another one, over the new and unique one. Then wonder why devs are so hesistant to be experimental and publishers rarely take risks.
According to Jason Schreier, Respawn asked for that release date, since they wanted to compete with CoD directly.
Respawn was formed among other people by devs which were fired by Activision and apparently their hubris got the best of them in this case.
What no one counted on was that Battlefield’s release date had to be pushed back and ended up next to the other 2, with Respawn not being able to change TF2’s release date due to marketing deals already set in stone, since they game had already gone. Gold.
Warcraft 3 reforged could earn a spot on this list. It could have easily been a slam dunk, had blizzard devoted the resources to fulfill its promises.
Simcity 2013 is the reason I never preorder a game now
I played Titanfall 2 for the first time earlier this year. Fantastic game.
I thought for sure Kingdom Hearts would be the next Dynasty Warriors type game. It worked incredibly well for Fire Emblem.
I have to admit that I've found a new appreciation for Final Fantasy XIII and that it really is much better than I remembered. After Final Fantasy XVI came out and...was what it was, I started wondering if I'd been too harsh on FFXIII, and going back and playing it now, I found myself enjoying the game and the cast a lot.
The only problem with FF13 is that it was linear, other than that it was pretty good.
I loved XVI, but unfortunately when I tried replaying XIII, which I had loved the first time, its linearity did bother me. Perhaps because XIII was one of my first FF games, if not my first (or maybe 7 was, I played both very close together).
@jiblitin1520 I don't think the linearity was the real problem. The real problem was the lack of diversity in terms of setting. Final Fantasy X was also pretty linear but each area looked different . Granted, Final Fantasy X was much more "open" after you got the airship but the first 3/4ths of the game don't offer much in the way of exploration.
Maybe it's because I'm a pessimist, but I didn't see any of these as home runs. Heck I thought Battlefront classic and Capcom v Marvel were DOA. Half of these were obvious cash grabs, the other were incomplete games with no real support behind them.
I figured that Fallout 76 would have gotten a nod on this list
Its had its redemption arc already
We couldn't even play in Philadelphia in AC3.
Also Diablo making it impossible to get a horse to ride until your character is like level 50 is a hack/middle finger to the players especially considering how long it takes to level up.
Also also Diablo 4, Mass Effect Andromeda, Cyberpunk 2077 and Anthem were All incredible ideas that barely make up for the initial releases and lack of content updates to justify their lacking quality.
I would put KOTOR 2 on this list. More cut content than a hair salon.
Splash damage made brink not human head studios
RIP Titanfall, my favorite FPS of all time.
Surprise, surprise EA are on the majority of the entries
CDPR rectifying Cyberpunk 2077 is the ultimate show of respect to the people that were let down. Didn't buy the game until 2022 (1.6) & it's the best game I've played since Fallout New Vegas (oh how Bethesda f**ked that series up, even the "next gen update for FO4 is a broken, unimpressive waste of hard drive space).
I'm still depressed about the classic collection
Tales of Symphonia "Remastered" is arguably worse than the Battlefront Classic Collection for me. Symphonia R cost more, adds absolutely no QoL features, & locked at 30 fps, unlike the OG version of 60. For all the latter's faults, it at least attempts to entice players to buy it. Whereas the formers was a COMPLETE cashgrab!
Titanfal 2, man its wild, i bought my copy of that from a Dollarama, for 2$.
Jules is still in whatculture? Great!!!!! 😊
Infinite's problem wasn't that it wasn't a MCU cash grab that would of been fine.... If they owned it rather they tried to make the game out to not be a cash grab by having these characters but trying to distance itself away from both the MCU and MvC3 was really a stupid idea, the devs of the game should of bit the bullet and either committed to fully embracing it's MCU ties, which sure still would of sucked but at least it'd be honest with itself, or put in some of the damned X-Men, honestly even moon knight would of been a happy middle ground.
Contrary to popular belief, AC III was not a mere home run, but an out of the park 1,000,000-run grand slam.
Lol yeah, it was the first one that kept my attention all the way through. As an American though the setting is really what drove me though so I get why a Brit might not feel the same
Best part of that game was exploring the underground tunnels of NYC and Boston. That’s how bad that game was and is.
Honestly as much as I love Ezio I've always felt that Connor gets a bad rap and in my opinion most of the people who hate on it havent done the Davenport homestead missions ive met a few haters who have played it again when i said did you do them? And they went no, and go back and play the game doing those missions and there tone changes
This is a bad list. Half of the games on here were huge successes.
Until they killed off Desmond and ran a previous 4 games' worth of build up into the gound and killed potential for at least one spin-off title set in the present day with Desmond as the main playable character majority of that game.
Amazing video.
Aspyr is not in charge of kotor remake. Saber interactive is
Don't forget the Cyberpunk anime
Anthem also provided an extra black-eye to BioWare because they pulled workforce from Mass-Effect Andromeda to make the project hurting most successful franchises to the point that planned DLC was canceled the BioWare Montreal branch was merged forcibly merged by EA with Motive Studios.
The Fantasy is never really “Final,” is it?
AC3 was awesome. That's probably my favorite time period as portrayed in AC thus far
I would've bet money that Marvel's Avengers would've been on this list......
......... Aaaaaaaand now I'm out $20.........
Shout outs to the following games:
Dead or Alive 6 just needed to follow up on the slam dunk that was DOA5 but mixed marketing, poor release with bugs and missing features, barely any detectable graphical jump but actively lacking modes and features DOA5 had, heavy grind for costumes, also same aggressive monetization for costumes leading to asking for money to change hair colors on the PS4 version killed the franchise. Also stopped selling Mai in DOA5 to force people to buy and play her in DOA6 because that brilliant move didn't backfire and kill both games. Thanks Team Ninja!
GTA Trilogy: Internet: Just release good functioning ports for a fair price and make sure we still have access to the original.
Rockstar: No, and we're delisting the original and striking mods and we didn't quality check the new version so enjoy weird looking rain, odd looking body proportions and AI misspelling things.
Internet: You had one job!
Rockstar: Yeah, money.
Helldivers 2: (didn't fail but the login issue didn't help them )
Internet: In the race to Game of the Year, Helldivers 2 is in the lead and it's not even a competition. There's nothing that could stop them, they're just a behemoth.
::Sony shoots Arrowhead in the leg midrace::
Sony! Why did you do that?! They were on your side?!
Sony: huh?
::Sony shoots ShiftUp and Stellar Blade with a T-Shirt Canon::
(Censorship thing didn't kill the game but adding an unnecessary controversy didn't help either. However, there's no confirmation the changes were from Sony, it does feel like an arbitrary thing Sony would ask for.)
Internet: Sony! Stop shooting developers that support your platform!
Sony: Sorry with Xbox being all friendly I don't know who to antagonize anymore...
Shenmue 3: Play like Shenmue 2 or Shenmue 1 and finish Ryo's Story and give closure regarding Lan Di.
Yu Suzuki: Let's play worse than any previous Shenmue game, constantly make Ryo lose, lose to Lan Di again and force another sequel despite the fact getting funding for this was a miracle and clearly not guaranteed or entitled to me.
Fans: So I guess I'll go play Yakuza now...
Tekken 8: Launched to critical acclaim and good reviews but suddenly decided to be Activision Blizzard and add microtransactions and a battle pass w/o telling players and the content they added was so sub par alongside patches that had bugs and lacked any vetting led to a Mostly Negative reviews on Steam.
Harada: Don't ask me for $***
Fans on Steam: Don't ask me for money or positive reviews until you fix your ish.
Secret of Mana and Midevil modernized their looks but didn't modernize their gameplay and were thus met with middling reception from what I recall.
Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order and The Last of Us Part PC Port were released and would've gotten world wide acclaim if they didn't run like a 200 year old terminal patient in a 50 mile marathon.
That's all my brain can spit out.
Excellent list!
What the hell is dia blow? Lol
This video going up the day(s) of the helldiver debacle would be funny if it weren’t so sad
I thought splash damage made brink ?
Tbf to CD Project Red at least they fixed their game and when I went back to play for a great game. Yeah the launch was unacceptable but EA don’t bother. At least they sorted it.
Anthem still angers me. Mass Effect: Andromeda got sacrificed for THAT?!?
Brink was not developed by humanhead studios
Die Hablo Foe 😂
You're smokin that joker pack if you think ac3 was bad. The parkour? It was far superior to anything having to do with ezio
AC was better with all the counters imo.
I guess I'm in the minority here, but I really liked AC 3 and Connor. In mechanical terms, they took everything that made AC2 great and improved it and I did not agree with the criticisms heaped on Connor. I found him an intense and driven character. Something that resonates with me.
happy Simcity was so bad, Cities Skyline took over
The SONY Resistance series??
Hoping for Titanfall 3 🤞
I still enjoy Brink
3:37 Why is AC2 held in such regard. Etzio was a BAD character. I don’t get it.
So essentially, EA ruins video games. I thoroughly enjoyed both Titanfall games and hoped for a third installment but it looks like I’ll be stuck playing apex instead.
Can we nominate Bayonetta 3 as an honorable mention? It still genuinely amazes me how badly they screwed that up. Almost a full decade of hype and buildup and it somehow became the worst (and worst-selling) game in the series.
I think that A.C. 3 is a way better game than A.C. 2. I lost interest in 2 but I beat 3.
Dee-ah-blow, not Die-ah-blow.
Yes, captain pedantic
I thought Anthem was supposed to surpass the clearly better Warframe.
*fanmade content without their permission was only said by the creator of said fanmade content, the only source is the modder themselves going "trust me bro"
I have not seen anyone without an unbiased opinion actually look into it.
AHem ... If anyone still think that Cyberpunk 2077 is bad in 2024, you should probably test it, this game is an absolute masterpiece, the kind you don't want to finish . Believe me .
I actually finished it when it came out I liked it so much.
I bought it on release day. Stop playing when my game glitched and didn't know what was happening even after loading my save so I stopped. Restarted after the big update around when the DLC came out. I agree. Leaps and bounds from the original release. It's great now and to me redeemed them self from what the disappointment they release. It's definitely worth the play now
Really No Street Fighter x Tekken come on man I remember that game being the most hyped up fighting game of all time and they crap it up hard 😂
wtf is a Dai-a-Blo
Stop using shmup to refer to fps's it refers to side scrolling space shooters like gradius or twin bee
Dude we can still play brink!? Bad @$$ lol, how much is a copy?
Namestake? Really?
Hard disagree on AC III and FF XIII.
I'm not even sure you can class Final Fantasy 13 as a true RPG. They had limits for how far you could upgrade the characters making grinding completely pointless while also giving the first 10-15 hours a huge difficulty curve that just simply wasn't needed. Like as if they wanted 13 to be the Dark Souls of the franchise but even in DS you can grind to level up as far as you want. And honestly I think the only character from 13 I actually like and can get behind was Sazh but then for 13-2 he barely even appeared and any further spinoff sequels he was cut out entirely! Meanwhile we got stuck with Hope who was a miserable whiny little bitch 🙄 idk what the hell Square Enix were thinking with FF13 but it says a lot when they're still failing now and losing millions upon millions per year.
Mario👏Strker👏
Had to go through here cause I love the delusional comments from the ff13 defenders. You do know you can like a franchise and still understand that maybe not all the games will be good right?¿? ff13 was straight trash. The story if you can call it that was nonsensical and that's being nice about it boy was the story absolutely stupid and soooooo borriiinnnggg. All and I do mean all the characters were boring or annoying. This game was dumbed down for casuals which is a bad move regardless, look rpgs have their fans no need to please everyone because all that will happen in the end is you will please no one. Gameplay oh f me the gameplay was the most boring in the entire series, no point to grinding, leveling up, certain builds none of it mattered at all. Takes 30 to 50 hours to get to the point you can actually start playing the game and by this point I put the controler down and walked away cause it wasn't worth playing. I've played some bad games before and still managed to get to the end credits, this game wasn't worth my time or anyone else's time. Just get a time machine take every copy and replace the books those guys burned in 1940's Germany 😂.
Anthem isn't BioWare's first live service, the Old Republic was pretty damn big.
mmorpg isn't the same as live service.
So The Video Game Equivalent Of Kangaroo Jack the film was a minor box office success for Warner Bros. Regardless of being critically maligned but the Direct To Video sequel Kangaroo Jack G'Day USA was much worse than the Live Action original movie TBH and that franchise was put down faster than Crocodile Dundee
I like how Jules manages to not name the only 2 characters in FF13 who were actually worth getting to know (Fang and Sazh)
The sad
Assassin's Creed 3 was awesome
And so was the parkour. And combat. But if the main character isn't Ac2- Revelations, list-icles love to knock down every other Creeds.
@@ryuk65 Eh. AC3 is the only AC I started and didn't finish. Was pretty far, too; I think I cleaned up the map and got the collectibles, was about to enter "the other tunnels" and I think the showdown was close.
I specifically disliked the combat. The cam was my enemy and whenever I entered a fort I fought a good part blindly because I only saw walls. With the acquired feel from the other fights I could button mash my way through those sections but I didn't especially like it.
@@tubensalat1453 not saying it's doesn't have its faults but a lot of the time, people mainly go "Conner isnt as cool as Ezio so he's terrible"
FF 13 is the only one I like
AC1 is great. Most people - including me - didn't see how much was included in that game.
The combat alone has so much more to it than we realised back then and is my favourite in the series now that I've learned. Watch the video on it by DaBeanieBoi if you want to know
Helldivers 2 will be on the next list of this type, unfortunately...
To quote Helsing abridged
"is it on fire?"
"It could be more on fire"
