Vernon used to fart in his cups before performing and then hand them out to be examined. HAHAHHAHA.

Yeah, I saw a doc where his son said his dad came out and saw him do a race when he was six. He got 3rd place and Vernon told him not to make him come out unless he got first.

I have always agreed that Vernon should never have married. He was a terrible father. But the contributions to Magic that he made cannot be undervalued. He was called "The Professor" for a reason. I attended a lecture he gave back in the 1970s in Hartford Connecticut. He was scheduled to give a two hour lecture with a short break (The man was in his 80s then). But, at the two hour mark, he asked for a short break.
After the break, he did another TWO hours. He was a very generous and giving man.

I think all of that is very fair yeah.

    1. Christopher Nolan's film, The Prestige, proffers exactly the debate that you are hinting at in your criticism of Vernon. I would point to both lessons learned by Angier and Borden at the end of the film.
    2. As Ram-Tzu said, "Are you so surprised to find God as linked to death and shit as he is to sunsets and puppies?"
    3. How many times did you injure yourself learning his wand spin?

I’m glad you put this on here. Yeah arts can use someone that dedicated but definitely it’s better when their alone. Well like no wife and kids if you won’t be there for them.
And there’s been people that dedicated who neglected family but yet still lived them and tried to make up for that. I mean a lot of artists that become big I have those kinds of problems. But some of them will actually know their grandchildren because they care that they hurt people. Going 98 years is like you don even care but hey I don’t know the man.

    • @Daveat23

Learning magic to get "female action" is a losing proposition. To become good enough to impress anyone takes a lot of practice, when you could be learning how to talk to women without a deck of cards in your hands all the time.
