      Tom, I've watched a lot of golf tips on YT and followed a lot of your input over the last 18 months.
      I tried your weight forward tip a year ago and started hitting decent shots but my gammy left knee got sore and I started all sorts of swing theories.
      Three of your key tips I found really helped me... 1. The weight forward, 2. Trail elbow slightly tucked, and 3. Low hands takeaway.
      Trouble is the more YT tips I tried in recent months caused 3 big problems..
      Firstly the more tips I added to my "list" meant that the earlier learned tips drop from my mind.
      Then I found that my form and confidence on course was nowhere near as good as my practice form. Then I tried so hard to perfect my backswing that I couldn't swing thru properly!
      End product is I've fallen apart in recent months and course mentality is killing more, soooo - I'm going back to your basics. (FYI the biggest improvement I get is when I remember to keep my hands "low and in" in the takeaway, somehow I get a better turn and crisper ball strike.?
      Keep up the good advice!!

      Great video as always! You should make a video on the correct address position with the shaft straight with the lead arm instead of pointing at the belt buckle. Incorrect address and consequently the grip is messing up a lot of people

    I keep typing the same thing into the comment box for Tom. #1 I think Tom's approach leads to the fastest improvement of anyone on TH-cam, and it is honestly amazing he offers it to us. #2 We all start thinking too hard and Tom just keeps imploring us to keep it simple and use common sense. Now can we just get back to scoring better and having fun? Thanks again Tom

    Tom, I wasn't sure if you were the right guy to help with my golf swing, but you managed to reference both The Princess Bride AND Robin Hood: Men in Tights in a teaching video, so clearly you are the most qualified instructor on TH-cam.
    With that said, how the heck do you manage to get Stack & Tilt to work for Driver??? I can mostly integrate the concept with irons (shorter the better) but I can't seem to dial in a consistent move with driver.

    • @SagutoGolf
      @SagutoGolf  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      LOL! Two classics indeed, and obviously a valid qualifier for any PGA instructor.... 😆😆
      It is essentially the same swing with every club; just some minor setup differences and naturally occurring shaft plane changes as we graduate up in club length from short irons to woods. To demonstrate, you'll find towards the end of this episode some practice range footage of me hitting a 7 iron, 3 wood, and driver: th-cam.com/video/o0xscMyN3v8/w-d-xo.html Beyond that, if you search the word "drive" on this channel you'll see some related content.
      Oftentimes when golfers are hitting everything well except for the driver it can be attributed to one of the following:
      1) Their hips are not continuing their lateral slide through impact. This is common with the driver as the wider stance means that the hips have a greater distance to travel. If the hips stop moving laterally towards the target on the downswing then their rotation takes over, inhibiting any further necessary forward weight loading (we should be 80/20 forward halfway down, 90/10 at impact, and 95/5 in the finish), changing the low point and rerouting the club into a steeper angle of attack (AoA). This can produce a variety of undesirable results including fat and thin contact, topped shots and popups, straight pulls, and “banana” slices.
      Of great importance is keeping your upper torso/head in place (in other words, not moving towards the target from a face-on view) while the hips execute the lateral slide action. This preserves the swing center and the desired shallow AoA.
      2) They are not allowing the length of the club to dictate the backswing path and are getting too steep as a result. The shaft of the driver is considerably longer than the other clubs and thus requires more of an around the body backswing as established by the shaft plane at address. It may "feel" flat as they take it back along the shaft plane for the first few feet, but as long as they maintain the "weight forward, shoulder down, and hands in" components while allowing the club to work around them, it should put them in the proper position at the top so they can attack the ball from the inside. (A good feel for that lead shoulder is "down and in, under the chin".)
      3) Many believe - and some even teach - that we must try to "hit up on the ball" with the driver. However, consider that in our stock setup with the driver the hands are even with the inside of the lead thigh (as they are with all clubs when playing a standard shot) and our ball position is even with the inside of the heel of the lead foot. This presets a very slight degree of forward shaft lean with the driver. Beyond that, the ball is behind the zero-point of the swing (which is even with the lead shoulder), meaning that without any contrived manipulations the club will still be on its descent - albeit very close to flat - at impact. So, perhaps with the exception of folks with slower swing speeds - or those Long Drive participants teeing it extra high and hitting maybe 1-2 balls out of 10 onto a 60-yard wide "fairway" - in general the path is still ever so slightly down. In fact, the PGA Tour average with the driver is actually minus (e.g.: downward) 1.5 degrees - nearly level - and it should feel level - but slightly down nonetheless. (Here is an article on Ping’s website addressing this topic - ping.com/en-us/blogs/proving-grounds/optimal-launch-and-spin#:~:text=According%20to%20Trackman%2C%20PGA%20Tour,85%25%20ball%2Dflight%20laws )

    Hi Tom, I have a friend name "R" who is constantly trying to get me to adopt the complex, back-breaking crab method you emphasized NOT TO use. R hits the ball with plenty of distance by simply using his natural ability along with your basic swing advice. I mean he can hit his 9 around 180 and his 7 over 200. He has a drive that can reach in the high 200's, and his 5 & 3 woods in the 250 range. Yet he is still looking for that magic move to give him what...a few more yards on occasion? It makes no sense to me, but he is a great guy who means well. We are both getting up in the years and have past injuries and motion limitations, so a video like this really puts things into perspective. Thanks Tom very much for the wise advice!

    • @SagutoGolf
      @SagutoGolf  25 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I sincerely appreciate your kind words, and I'm very glad to know that my instruction content and teaching style are resonating with you!!
      I'm not sure how many yards "R" is looking to squeeze out, but hopefully it is not at the cost of his body and his golfing future. Contrary to that, a significant percentage of my online school members are in their 60's, 70's, and 80's - i.e.: a smorgasbord of chronic ailments, physical limitations, back/shoulder/knee/hip pain, arthritis, and joint replacements - and they are overwhelmingly elated to experience the dramatic pain-free game improvement, seemingly effortless power, and resulting enjoyment that this swing affords them. It all begins with a proper setup which provides for a free-flowing motion. Upon that good foundation a repeatable swing which produces consistently crispy impact can be built.
      For example, the outward flaring of both feet 10-20 degrees in our setup facilitates the proper amount of body-friendly, free-flowing hip turn back and through. This is a major power source, and it also keeps the club traveling on the correct path. If you were to square your feet so that they were perpendicular to the target line, then your hips would be impeded from turning sufficiently in the backswing (which would then inhibit the shoulders from executing a full and effortless turn), and from releasing properly in the downswing to propel the club through the zone. Restricting this action can cause a variety of path issues and/or also place strain on the lower back, lead knee, and the hip joints as the hips will "want" to move laterally and turn through into the finish but will be fighting the body in the process.
      By the way, have you looked into the comprehensive, sequential learning platform of the online school yet? That's where - among many other courses and lessons covering various aspects of the game - you will find very detailed instruction and drills that take you through the entire swing step-by-step, position-by-position from setup to finish. Thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - are now enjoying the best golf of their lives as a result, and their unsolicited testimonials tell the story quite well: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews. The value in terms of what you get for the low price point is beyond comprehension, and based on proven results it represents by far the best golf instruction deal on the planet.
      And if you'd like to first "dip a toe in the water" prior to diving into the school, then here is a link to my FREE mini course “The Top 3 Keys You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker”: go.saguto.golf/ Featuring 17 videos and 45 minutes of detailed lesson and drill content, this is a great way to gain a fundamental understanding of this system as well as an introduction to the formal learning method that is delivering the referenced results.
      One absolutely does not need the flexibility of a Romanian gymnast - or even of this far less pliable golf instructor - to execute this swing, experience great ball striking, and reclaim - or even exceed - yardages from years past without diving down body-wrecking rabbit holes. As such, with regard to your "getting up in the years and have past injuries and motion limitations" perhaps you might wish to give the school some thought?
      Thanks again for your message and support, and keep up the great - and body-friendly - work!!

      I sincerely appreciate that, Tommy, and I'm very glad to know that my instruction content and teaching style are resonating with you!! But here's the thing: This body-friendly, powerful, consistent, low-maintenance swing system is rooted in physics, geometry, and human physiology, and it is modeled on empirical observations of the game's most prolific ball strikers. As such it does not discriminate by age or ability - from kids to seniors and everyone in between, inclusive of the best players in the world. Watch any Tour event on TV and you'll see a significant number of golfers executing these motions, a fact corroborated by just how many of them have a very centered swing with the lead knee flexing and the trail leg straightening during the backswing, their lead arms on or very close to their tilted shoulder planes, and their hands deep behind their trail shoulder at the top.
      Thanks again for your message and support, and keep on bragging out there!! 😎

    Saguto your swing methodology is like a reliable Japanese sedan. Efficient, easy to locate parts, low maintenance, and a lifetime warranty. yes, it's quite hilarious when they tell us to rotate the right hand thru etc. only to see a players right hand disconnect. the irony being that left extensor digitorum tendon, right thumb pad, fusion, in transition, will actually releases the club thru, in the hitting area. and, to call you tube golf instruction confusing is an understatement. more of a minefield, really. eventually it will get to the stage where the pga will ban all golf instruction from you tube; and, instead, be only able to upload pga approved videos on the pga's own app

      LOL! The only problem with your proposed "ban" is that "shift & lift", "torque", "fire the hips", "release the hands", and all that other misconstrued "conventional" jargon remain standard elements of sanctioned instruction to this day, so that is what you might be left with! I refer to it as GASP (generally asinine swing principles), or perhaps more familiarly today, "fake news".
      Unfortunately, such sorcery from this dark underworld of golf instruction - which is rooted in physics, geometry, and human physiology, and modeled on empirical observations of the game's most prolific ball strikers - rarely finds its way to the mainstream because if too many folks found out about it the mainstream would then be rendered irrelevant....... 😎

In-person lessons at my South Carolina location will be open to members and non-members.

    Thanks Tom, instant results. I been back playing for a month now after a 5 yr lay off. My ball striking was terrible and it's not something I ever struggled with. But I hit the range yesterday after watching your videos for 3 or 4 days. I took the sway out, weight onto the front leg, straight left arm, tucked right arm. And I hit the ball so well, not only my ball striking was good but I could actually hit the target over and over again. if I played a round, I would of been 15 shots better off, it was just a night and day difference. I'm excited to play golf again and return to single digits , thanks you so much.

    I lost my way in the past months trying different things and while my scores have improved a lot from more awareness on the course and better strategy, I feel like am hitting the ball worse than when I was shooting in the 140's last summer. I noted during my range trip this weekend I was hitting fat often and was experiencing both unplanned fades, draws, a handful of flat out hooks and even a slice or two. Got home and went back to the divot board and a short iron. Weight forward, hands forward, head locked in space and straight lead arm and instantly the ground strike and face strike is back where it should be, swing path is back to the usual slight in to out.
    Sometimes we stray, but we always come back... it's just common sense.

    • @SagutoGolf
      @SagutoGolf  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'm very glad to learn of your improvement!
      If your face angle is square at address but then presenting itself open at impact, then it seems as though there is either a faulty grip and/or some unwanted handsy manipulation occurring somewhere in the motion. If we pre-establish the connections properly in the setup and have a foundational base that facilitates a full centered turn without restriction, then once we've ingrained the correct actions through sequential drilling and repetition we can entrust the motion to the big muscles and allow the arms, wrists, hands, and club to simply go along for the ride and respond accordingly as if on autopilot. The power accumulators - including the proper arm, wrist, and hand action - will then naturally load and fire with no contrived manipulations or precise timing necessary, thereby returning the face to the position pre-established at address. It's called "giving up control to gain control", and it's the formula for consistently blissful ball striking and seemingly effortless power. Here are a few lessons on this topic:

    First of all, my game is greatly benefitting from applying your approach so thank you. I have been working with different approaches and what I would love to see one day is a few top teachers of different approaches, get together and discuss why they teach what they do (and not what the others are doing). This would be helpful to me because when anyone of you talk about common sense, or physics, or how the body was designed you all make sense to me but are giving different advice (don't turn you shoulders, do turn your shoulders, pronate/ don't pronate etc.) Besides being instructive it would be fun to listen to!

      I'm very glad to learn of your improvement!!
      I appreciate your suggestion, although I believe such a debate would only serve to further stoke confusion among the already confused masses! Golfers must be careful in navigating the muddied, overly-complicated, oft-conflicting realm of golf instruction. It's best to commit to a methodology, put one's blinders on, and stick to it!
      Now, since you posted your comment here on my channel I'm going to take some liberty to promote the robust body-friendly, powerful, low-maintenance swing *_system_* I teach. The mere fact that it truly is a system and not simply a "swing style" was a permanent game changer for me once I learned and adopted it, and since this system is indeed rooted in physics, geometry, and human physiology, and modeled on empirical observations of the game's greatest ball strikers, it does not discriminate by age or ability - from kids to seniors and everyone in between, inclusive of the best players in the world. We can watch any Tour event on TV and you'll see a significant number of players executing these motions, a fact corroborated by just how many of them have a very centered swing with the lead knee flexing and the trail leg straightening during the backswing, their lead arms on or very close to their tilted shoulder planes, and their hands deep behind their trail shoulder at the top.
      Anyway, my duty is to inform and not to convince, and I respect every golfer in their efforts to do what they believe suits them best. Given your experience so far I hope you will continue with my instruction and perhaps eventually migrate to the online school where you can take your learning and your game to the next level, but that choice is ultimately yours and I wish you all the best no matter which direction you choose!!
      Thanks again for your message and support!

    Great video, as always! I have to disagree that knowing we need to strike the ball first and make a divot after is common sense. I have been paired with SO many beginners who after a bad shot say: "I couldn't get under the ball." They sincerely believe the club is supposed to get under the ball and scoop it. The golf swing is indeed overly complicated in particular by one part of the human body: the brain and all the swing nonsense and misguided instruction it has been fed. Garbage in, garbage out; and countless golf swings have sadly been trashed as a result. This is not saying that golf is "easy" as it most certainly is anything but. However, the complexities of the swing - both real and perceived - can indeed be greatly simplified and easily repeated if we ingrain the motion through proper drilling and keep our brain out of the way!

    Always enjoy your video lessons Tom, very informative yet simple to understand. Once one has this method of swinging firmly down pat, what is the best way to "ramp it up" and gain more acceleration and distance with this swing? What are your thoughts on "speed training" and the best (or worst) ways to achieve more speed (acceleration) and distance?

    • @SagutoGolf
      @SagutoGolf  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I sincerely appreciate your kind words, Ken, and I'm very glad to know that my instruction content and teaching style are resonating with you!!
      With regard to ramping it up, if we pre-establish the connections properly in the setup and have a foundational base that facilitates a full centered turn without restriction, then once we've ingrained the correct actions through sequential drilling and repetition we can entrust the motion to the big muscles and allow the arms, wrists, hands, and club to simply go along for the ride and respond accordingly as if on autopilot. The "power accumulators" - including the proper arm, wrist, and hand action - will then naturally load and fire in sequence with no contrived manipulations or precise timing necessary, thereby returning the face to the position pre-established at address. It's called "giving up control to gain control", and it's the formula for consistently blissful ball striking and seemingly effortless power.
      Having said that, some of my students have done speed training and achieved favorable results, and I would say that as long as one does not depart from the boundaries of this swing system there is no harm in giving it a shot. However, if you really wish to take your learning - and your game - to the next level and have not yet enrolled, then my best suggestion for getting on the fast track towards properly learning this swing system in a comprehensive, sequential platform is my online school. It will make for a far more efficient, superior, and enjoyable learning process rather than haphazardly trying to piece things together through these channel videos that jump around randomly from topic to topic. The school is where you will find very detailed instruction and drills that take you through the entire swing step-by-step, position-by-position from setup to finish, along with diagnostic and corrective tools for resolving common swing, contact, and ball flight issues, and much more. Thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - are now enjoying the best golf of their lives as a result, and I'm happy to let their unsolicited testimonials tell the story: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews. Have been toying with the idea of using "Moe's-like" single plane swing. There are elements of the stack and tilt method that are very similar. Eliminating variables makes sense. Curious -- what iron head / shaft are you using in this vid? Cheers!

    • @SagutoGolf
      @SagutoGolf  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Jonathan,
      While the Stack and Tilt system I teach shares a one plane feature, it is definitely different from the "single plane" version patterned after Mr. Norman's swing. For example, the straight-line relationship of the arms and club shaft from the DTL view is a trademark of Mr. Norman's setup that one will not typically find in S&T instruction. However, there are also some definite shared features - particularly with regard to the very centered, connected, weight-forward nature of both methods.
      Having said that, I do not recommend crisscrossing between the two methods as it could lend itself to confusion. This should not be construed as a knock against Mr. Norman's renowned ball striking prowess or the style of instruction that he inspired; it's simply that some components of that swing method are not compatible with S&T. So although some golfers have had success developing a "hybrid" between the two styles, my best suggestion to those who are “comparison shopping” is to choose one or the other, but preferably not both. To this end, have you worked through my FREE mini course “The Top 3 Things You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker" yet? go.saguto.golf/ This is a great way to gain a fundamental understanding of this swing system as well as an introduction to the instruction style that has thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - enjoying the best golf of their lives: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews

      You were just recently doing so well, Chaunce, so it's still in you!
      One problem that can occur during or after a good round or practice session is when we say to ourselves, "Now I've got this." That's an open invitation to our old swing demons, and they never miss an opportunity to haunt. We get a little too relaxed, a little too loose. We let our guard down. One swing element starts to break down, and then the chain reaction begins.
      When hiccups like this occur, it always best to go back to the basics beginning with our setup and to avoid diving down rabbit holes with rapid-fire swing adjustments. If you continue to be challenged then we can always arrange for a swing video analysis lesson which would enable me to put my eyes on your swing, diagnose any issues, and provide a corrective action plan if applicable.
      Let's get you out of the abyss and back to crispy ball striking bliss!

      I do my best to convey multiple “feels” or thoughts throughout the swing wherever possible. We're all different physiologically and psychologically, and something that connects effectively with one golfer may not necessarily work for another. However, no matter the variety of suggested feels/thoughts offered for a particular element of the swing, they are all directed at getting different golfers to achieve the desired positions, motions, and results. This is why I routinely recommend the online school - saguto.golf - to anyone who truly wishes to experience the joys of consistent, powerful, body-friendly ball striking bliss. The sequential lessons and drills provide the guidelines and set the boundaries, while allowing ample leeway for each individual golfer to infuse and exercise their own uniqueness.

    Is it just me, or do have a slightly wider stance than most people recommend? It does make sense to not release the hands, but it also means most of us who have been releasing to keep the face square through the whole swing, as the release is meant to close the face after opening it up in the backswing.

    • @SagutoGolf
      @SagutoGolf  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Camera angles can greatly skew a viewer's perspective with regard to both ball position and stance width. My widest stance is with the driver, where the insides of the heels are shoulder-width apart. This is quite standard. The stance gets incrementally narrower as the clubs get shorter.
      Rolling the face open in the takeaway and then trying to square it up with the hands introduces variables that must be precisely replicated and perfectly timed from one swing to the next if there is to be any hope of consistency. It also does nothing for power except to reduce it. Here is a lesson video on this topic: th-cam.com/video/4uxcuKSJUGQ/w-d-xo.html

    Tom, you don’t turn (rotate) your hands, but do you release them? Thanks.

    • @SagutoGolf
      @SagutoGolf  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Correct. With regard to this erroneous notion that we need to affect some type of active hand-rolling “release", given the inability of most folks to spend sufficient time at the range to lock in the required exactness of such an action this misguided thought has led countless golfers astray. It's not something that even the vast majority of pros are trying to consciously manufacture during the split second that the clubhead is traveling a distance of approximately 6' from parallel to parallel at speeds in excess of 100 mph. The forearms will naturally "trade places" from pre- to post-impact, but this should not be construed as a contrived move (although many a casual observer has gone down that rabbit hole). There really ought not be any active manipulation of the hands through the zone and attempts to precisely time any such rolling or flipping - which does nothing for swing speed - have relegated many an amateur to the vast abyss of inconsistency and frustration.
      Stick with the position-by-position school curriculum. It will make for a far more efficient, superior, and enjoyable learning process rather than haphazardly trying to piece things together through these channel videos that jump around randomly from topic to topic.

      @SagutoGolf  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Mike,
      I'm not sure I agree that it's "just about everyone" LOL....
      Anyway, we first need to be aware that camera angles can greatly skew the viewer's perspective on ball position. That aside, while this system affords you some leeway, in general once my students and members show some level of proficiency with the swing I suggest that they migrate to a stock ball position that is in the middle of the stance for short irons, two balls inside the lead heel for middle irons, and creeping more forward for the longer clubs - the farthest forward being even with the inside of the lead heel for the driver (with the stance width increasing as we move from shorter to longer clubs). From there they can make incremental tweaks to see how different positions affect impact quality and shot shape.

      Glad you enjoyed it!
      - th-cam.com/video/1FLm67Fn81M/w-d-xo.html
      - th-cam.com/video/RfH96tUn6ls/w-d-xo.html
      - th-cam.com/video/Gm_RtSHbH8c/w-d-xo.html
      By the way, with regard to watching different videos from different sources, please be careful in navigating the muddied, overly-complicated, oft-conflicting realm of golf instruction. That is not a dig against any other teachers out there. It's simply best to commit to a system - whether it be this body-friendly, powerful, consistent, low-maintenance method or another - put your blinders on, and stick to it. And if the system I teach appeals to you or at the very least stokes your curiosity, then here is a link to my FREE mini course “The Top 3 Things You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker”: go.saguto.golf/ It's a great way to gain a fundamental understanding of this system as well as an introduction to the instruction style that has thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - enjoying the best golf of their lives: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews

    Is there any other response to the question : why have a shallow back swing (hands below shoulders) when majority of the pros do not, other than: theyre pros so have better timing ?

    • @SagutoGolf
      @SagutoGolf  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Actually, David, this body-friendly, powerful, consistent, low-maintenance swing system is rooted in physics, geometry, and human physiology, and it is modeled on empirical observations of the game's most prolific ball strikers. As such it does not discriminate by age or ability - from kids to seniors and everyone in between, inclusive of the best players in the world. Contrary to what you are saying, watch any Tour event on TV and you'll see a significant number of golfers executing these motions, a fact corroborated by just how many of them have a very centered swing with the lead knee flexing and the trail leg straightening during the backswing, their lead arms on or very close to their tilted shoulder planes, and their hands deep behind their trail shoulder at the top. As for those who take it up higher with a disconnected lifting motion, it took them years and years to hone their craft and get their respective swings dialed in to the extent that they have. That's a testimony to their hard work, determination, and perseverance.
      This is by no means a "flat" swing as some might misinterpret it to be. It is a one-plane motion, meaning that there is no independent lifting of the arms and hands as you would see in a two-plane move. In other words, there's no need to "drop it in the slot" if you've already put it there. Instead, by properly maintaining our connections the arms, hands, and club are "elevated" as a result of the tilting, turning, and extending motions while the lead arm crosses the chest 45 degrees and the trail arm folds to 90 degrees. Beyond the repeatability of this motion without the need for precise timing and coordination of variables, by creating depth and swing on a tilted arc we are fully harnessing the tremendous force known as "angular momentum", where physics and geometry collide.
      Thousands of folks across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players - are now enjoying the best golf of their lives as a result of learning this swing system through my online school, and I'm happy to let their unsolicited testimonials tell the story: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews. Compare and contrast that with the sad reality that despite all the advances in equipment, technology, golf course grooming, etc. the average golfer still struggles to break 100. Epic failures within the realm of “conventional” instruction, perhaps??? So many misconstrued and/or misguided teachings - such as taking the club straight back, turning the shoulders level while lifting the arms, shifting into and torquing against a firm trail side, firing the hips, actively rolling the hands through impact, etc. - have relegated generations of golfers to the vast abyss of inconsistency and chronic frustration (and chronic back/knee/hip pain as well).
      I hope that is a sufficient explanation. If so then here's a link to my FREE mini-course “The Top 3 Things You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker” in case you’re interested in learning some key aspects of the swing system I teach in a more structured manner: go.saguto.golf/ If not, well - my job is to inform, not to convince, and as such I thank you for visiting and wish you all the best in your golfing pursuits.

    Tom- you’re right. Makes so much common sense. I must admit that I fall victim to watching other great golfers on other TH-cam channels who focus on shifting the upper torso to the right, “dropping,” and many other things. They make it look easy, and what they say sounds wonderful, so I end up convincing myself that I can emulate them. But finding consistency when golf isn’t the center of your universe is difficult, which is why I love your common sense approach. I find that when I follow your advice and keep my weight forward and just focus on bringing the club back to the same spot every tim I can at least make contact with the ball with much greater consistency. And amazingly, even when I’m not taking a big backswing, I sometimes hit the ball crispy clean. Bottom line- I’m doubling down with the crispy KFC approach; meaning I’m going to focus on keeping my weight forward, my left arm straight, and bringing the club back to the same spot every time. If I can build in some other stuff as I progress, that’ll be great. But in the meantime I’m going to keep my focus on the common sense approach. Thanks, Tom, for all of your great videos and advice. You’re the man! Long live KFC!😊

    Is driver more weight back then?

    • @SagutoGolf
      @SagutoGolf  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Nope. Believe it or not we set slight more weight forward with the longer clubs as that actually facilitates a shallower downswing path, and not a steep one as some would erroneously believe.
      I am aware that many folks out there believe - and some even teach - that we must try to "hit up on the ball" with the driver. However, consider that in our stock setup with the driver the hands are even with the inside of the lead thigh (as they are with all clubs when playing a standard shot) and our ball position is even with the inside of the heel of the lead foot. This presets a very slight degree of forward shaft lean with the driver. Beyond that, the ball is behind the zero-point of the swing (which is even with the lead shoulder/armpit), meaning that without any contrived manipulations the club will still be on its descent - albeit very close to flat - at impact.
      So, perhaps with the exception of folks with slower swing speeds - or some of those Long Drive participants teeing it extra high and hitting maybe 1-2 balls out of 10 onto a 60-yard wide "fairway" - in general the path is still ever so slightly down.
      For these reasons I do not advocate trying to hit up on the ball, and efforts to do so due to erroneous advice have caused many an amateur significant issues with their driver.
      Upon learning this swing properly you will be harnessing the tremendous power source known as "angular momentum". This is the reason my students and online school members of all age ranges end up bombing it farther than they ever had previously, and I'm happy to let their unsolicited testimonials tell the story: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews. I can't keep my lead arm as straight as yours thus limiting the range of my backswing. This presumably results in a lower swing speed and distance. Is it Ok to bend my arm slightly while still keeping the right elbow tucked in and down close to my side? My turn around the waist is very good.

      @SagutoGolf  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Ralph,
      If your lead arm hangs straight at address, then you should be able to keep it straight for the entirety of the swing. A very slight bend is okay, but the key here is get to - and not go beyond - your body's natural stopping point in the backswing. This is the point where if we were to try to go any further any or all of the following will occur:
      1) the lead arm will bend and/or lift
      2) the wrists will break down
      3) the lead knee will kick inward towards the trail side
      4) the lead shoulder will level out and lose its orientation towards the ball
      5) weight will shift into the trail side and bring the low point back with it, resulting in inconsistent contact and unpredictable ball flight.
      6) you'll "chicken wing" and/or flip through impact
      7) pain, discomfort, and/or possible injury
      We don't need to try to get to "parallel" with this swing, and fighting your body in an attempt to do so will result in some combination of the above issues. If you execute this swing properly you will have created width and plenty of distance for that club to travel by taking it in deep, and that will enable you to harness the tremendous power source known as "angular momentum".
      By the way, regardless of your age you may be interested to know that a significant percentage of my online school members are in their 60's, 70's, and 80's - i.e.: a smorgasbord of chronic ailments, physical limitations, back/shoulder/knee/hip pain, arthritis, and joint replacements - and they are overwhelmingly elated to experience the dramatic pain-free game improvement, seemingly effortless power, and resulting enjoyment that this swing affords them. *_It all begins with a proper setup which provides for a free-flowing motion._* Upon that good foundation a repeatable swing which produces consistently crispy impact can be built.
      Have you looked into the comprehensive, sequential learning platform of the online school yet? That's where - among many other courses and lessons covering various aspects of the game - you will find very detailed instruction and drills that take you through the entire swing step-by-step, position-by-position from setup to finish. At just $14.99/month or $149.99 per year the value in terms of what you get for that price point is beyond comprehension, and based on proven results it represents by far the best golf instruction deal on the planet.
      And if you'd like to first "dip a toe in the water" prior to diving into the school, then here is a link to my FREE mini course “The Top 3 Things You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker”: go.saguto.golf/ That is where you can learn some key aspects of the swing system I teach in a more structured manner.
      You don't need the flexibility of a Romanian gymnast - or even of this far less pliable golf instructor - to execute this swing, experience great ball striking, and reclaim - or even exceed - yardages from years past. I hope you'll give the school some thought.

      Indeed, a sad reality of this completely non-sensical world....
      However, that aside it can still be effectively applied to the golf swing.
