Effects of VELOCITY on ACCURACY

  • All tests are conducted in a controlled environment. None of the test models are homemade, 3D-printed, or previously modified. We test different weight airsoft BBs to see if accuracy is improved by maintaining a consistent velocity.

It would be interesting to see what the accuracy would be with the .32g bb at the same pressure as the .20g. And then, the accuracy of the .20g bb with the same pressure it took to get the .32g bb back to 380fps.

His previous video shows that. To summarize, he tested with 0.2, 0.25, 0.3, 0.43 and the order from best to worst was 0.3, 0.2, 0.25 and 0.43. But, of course, it depends on the power of the gun, the type of the gun (pistol/rifle etc.), the propulsion power, the distance, the type of bb (some are better than other even if they have the same weight) and the environment (indoor/outdoor).

Should match joules - 1.49 for 400 FPS w/.20s and then try shooting the .32s and see how it hits.

I’d like to see heavier bb while keeping the fps the same. So as bb weight increases you need to change the fps as well.

Okay spoke to soon :) next is like to see the force comparison between the two. Obviously the heavier bb will “hurt” more.

I think that's unrealistic because the limit is defined in kinetic energy (Joules) which is 1/2 * mass * V^2. Your intuition is correct that a heavier BB going the same velocity as a lighter BB would have both greater energy and momentum and hurt more. It would lose less energy to drag as well because it has the same form factor (5.95mm), but a greater mass. A heavier BB, going the same velocity, should be superior in every way. The only exception may be that the magnus effect (lift from backspin) may not counter gravity as effectively, but I think that would be overcome by the greater momentum.

Intresting video. But is does nog test velocity. Both are at 380pfs and different joules. Could you remake this video?

Great videos pal. I think if you could combine all the results and then just tell me what gun to buy around $400 :D

    5 to 14.25 with the .20.
    2.33 to 6.25 with the .32g
They each got ~3x bigger at 2x the range.

affect is the verb, effect is the noun

Before seeing the results my guess is there won’t be any difference in accuracy. If you were outdoors, then the heavier bb will be more accurate. But there is a huge difference in force. The heavier bb will have much higher force

Hey Chris it’s Ryan long time no see huh? I see you are really doing well with this airsoft business. I’d love to swing by and say hi sometime and check out your store. Idk if you will see this comment or not but I figured I’d leave it anyway. I do still have some airsoft gear but I haven’t played in years I’m thinking about coming by to play sometime

50ft = 15m? you should be doing 150ft = 45m that's is the average engagement distance and the max effective distance being 200ft = 60m. Even with a 1 joule gun with .48g you should be able to hit someone 80m away.

  • @digler88

FPS is NOT velocity. FPS is speed. heavier BB's will carry the same velocity (if not sometimes more) but at a slower speed. but that also means it will lose its velocity slower.
you should measure velocity in Joules, not FPS

so u are more accurate with more energy. What a world we live in. You tried really hard to produce usefull data, this time with a descent gun, most likely good grouping, indoors, sandbags, like perfect. But you decide to tes the gun one time with .32/.2=1.6 times more power. why ?
