      If you discharge them lower than they are designed to go then they will vent but most Airsoft guns and RC cars have mosfets that won't allow them to get that low or at least beep to warn you when they've reached the safe point and with lipo cells like 18650' for vape mods and high end cameras if your battery wrap is torn it can arc and vent (explode)

    Shocked to see so many ignore the Amps & most importantly the Watts of the AEG. Recap: Volts x Amps = Watts. Most stock guns produce about 11 to 12 Amps in std lame form out of box with lame slow ferrite motors. Depending on 7.4v - 9.6v - 11.1v battery used, you will draw say 80 Watts to 130 Watts. Not a real problem at all for AEG's without a mosfet. However, once you start upgrading a gun with faster gears, faster/torque motors, stronger springs or even DSG you can easily double or triple the Amps and of course the Watts too. You could be drawing say 20 Amps but using 7.4v will only be a little over (148 Watts), than the stock gun @ 12 Amps on 11.1v (133.2 Watts). But if you run above say 150 Watts the arcing will increase at contacts due to the final Wattage. If running 20 Amps on 11.1v then that is 222 Watts. In actual fact a Lipo cell comes off charge at at up to 0.5v more at 4.2v max than 3.7v so that 11.1v freshly charged is about 12.5v x 20 amp = 250 Watts !!! Bit of a difference eh & we aren't even really pushing it - this is a moderately tweaked build - DSG's can really ramp up the Amps & of course the Watts depending on battery used. High Speed Motors will increase the Amps & very quickly deplete your battery, so a 16~18 tpa balanced or 22 tpa torque is best to keep Amps low (and Watts) plus ensure battery doesn't die before lunchtime. Keep an eye on the Amps and remember the final results in terms of Wattage as this is what kills your contacts in the end not really the voltage on its own but the Volts x Amps = Watts. 150 Watts or more fit a mosfet, with TVS protection. Have fun, play safe & leave egos in the safe zone - peace

    A mosfet with a tvs diode that protects a mosfet from voltage spikes will not burn out unless shorted out or overstressed. For high stress builds a mosfet is a must or trigger contacts will fail. A mosfet can help reduce resistance as well for more rps.

    2 weeks ago I bought a keymod all metal m4 at my fields shop. Had them install a lipo battery pack for me as well.
    I immediately took gun on the field for a game. Not 5 minutes into game (semi auto only field, fired maybe 100 rounds) I smelled burning plastic. Next thing I know my stock literally goes limp and melts to my buffer tube. Ref saw the whole thing and slaps the gun out of my hand, while directing me away from the now on fire gun. By the time they got a fire extinguisher. The gun was ruined to say the least. After clean up there was a black burned plastic outline of the back of a m4 left on the concrete floor.
    The field owner who sold me the gun said he had sold several of that gun/ battery combo's without issue. He apologized over and over. They were out of stock on the gun they had just sold me. So I got a cyma m4 of similar value to the melted gun. Plus they threw in used hicapa I had been eyeballing in the show case. When I wanted to buy a 5k bag of .25 bb's they only charged me $3.99 for a $16 bag if bb's
    Great shop, nice people. but I will never buy lipo again..EVER!

      I'm guessing it was either a really low performance li-po that got over loaded, it had a manufacturing flaw, or that it got damaged somehow. I've used li-po's for nearly a decade now, and they have been supremely reliable, I actually a lot of issues back when I used ni-mh batteries.

    Now yes you don’t need a MOSFET to be LiPo ready most guns now a days are stable enough to use a 7.4v, problem is when you get to C rating you may run into the fact you need a MOSFET.

    The only way to truly screw up a lipo is being really stupid with them, dont put a nail through it, dont smash it with anything heavy and dont bridge the contacts for any extended period of time )it wont catch fire it you let them touch for a second. And dispose of puffed up batteries.
    Just use common sense and read the manual before using

    • @indianman1037

    • @xWink
      @xWink 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +subie skyline34 Your red dot sight is dead forever. Replacing the glass will cost more than buying a new red dot. Next time, use a lens protector. There are decent ones for sale at most stores, but you can also make your own using 'Lexan polycarbonate'. You should also put a protector on your flashlights, cameras, and any other accessory that can be shot out.

    • @FLTAIRSOFT
      @FLTAIRSOFT 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I am probably a lil late to this party.
      But i want to add a few things here. First, in this video there are some very good points, but there are some very bad points as well.
      Do all guns that run lipos need mosfets? No, some guns, like his rentals, aren't using high discharge lipo's and the guns themselves do not draw allot of amperage. I have seen many guns, that people have run low c rated lipo's on, last for quite a while. But that's because of the low amp requirements of the gun and the low discharge rates of the battery. As far as the op wearing out mosfets, you must look at the mosfets he was showing you. Both of those fets are low amp rated fets. if the amp requirements get to high and/or the battery's get to low you can actually burn out those fets very easily. I actually recommend a mosfet for every gun, at least every gun that is decently tuned. It will help increase battery life, give you marginal trigger response and rof increase. And as long as you choose a decent one there are no drawbacks.
      Just my 2 cents

    • @FLTAIRSOFT
      @FLTAIRSOFT 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      MagicMinecraftStyle you are wrong here. A mosfet may actually cause your motor to burn out quicker if things go wrong.
      A mosfet has less resistance and actually allows more energy to be transferred to the motor. Mosfets will protect your trigger contacts and allow for a more efficient energy transfer. getting you longer battery life and marginal increase in rof and trigger response.

    I've run all my guns with no hard wired mosfet, I do how ever use a quick connect mosfet for it's 3 round burst and other options. Have not had one brake down, even if it does it will be an easy fix.

  • @coleman2721
    @coleman2721 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Depends what mosfet u have

  • @darkshock42mlg05
    @darkshock42mlg05 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Are programmed that way you can reduce the rate of fire so you're not burning people's patches ; ). It also helps with to response and make sure your 11.1 then burn out your contacts. If using 7.4 then you don't need it. I think the most you can get on a 7.4 is probably around 18 rps with a 30C battery. If you want to puch it to 25- ep you need an 11.1 plus a couple of other internal modifications like high speed gears, heavier spring (because pme), better motor, and aoe (to redice wear).

  • @XxXAirsoftboyXxX
    @XxXAirsoftboyXxX 6 ปีที่แล้ว +10

    Lol, you dont need a Mosfet for a LiPo, the point of a mosfet is making the gun ready for a 11.1 LiPo, not any LiPo

    • @bisterkding9249
      @bisterkding9249 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Even then you'd have to consider the quality of the internals in your setup. Many marui guns were not designed to operate at such a high rof, and neither are their clones. Just because a gun has a mosfet doesn't mean that you're immune to headaches like pre-engagement and poor feeding.

      little to late for me ..my regular ni-hm battery i used for my replica was at it's end..but i got plenty of lipo's laying around from the rc-planes i used to fly. 3 or 4 cells lipo's from 800 til 6500 mah..so i took the lightest one 3 cells (11,1) 800mah and it shoots perfect for about two months..till my bb-s just rolled out my barrel and found out my gearbox has broken in two and crushed my piston and head although it was a good quality reinforced gearbox (force core)...wel try to make a kind of mosfet from my rc spare parts maybe using a motor esc. or something.

    I have used Lipos for the last 15 years in RC racing and I have had ZERO fires... I have charged 1000s of times. I also have seen a few batterys get old and Puff up... They should NOT be used anymore after a puff or swelling.... This is the SAME argument with HPA VS AEG and Joule creep or bla bla... 400fp with a .20 is 400 With what ever you use to shoot it.. Just because you use an AEG to achieve 400 or an HPA the impact will be 100% THE SAME....The cheating is when a HPA user chronographs with a .25 and then uses a .42g bb and shoots someone point blank.. That is the Joule BS.... Its NOT the gun its the user...

    • @AbuGuroza
      @AbuGuroza 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      joule creep happens in gas systems
      in AEG, the most of the volume is stopped when piston hit the wall, and sometimes it sucked back by the piston movement, even the sudden stop sometimes making little drag to bb
      but in the gas system, the gas is continuously streaming pushing bb, no sudden force whatsoever, even GBB having that advantage, but it's not joule creep that proble arise, as maybe Joule retain is just around 20percent, but in HPA system, user can adjust the power whenever they want
