- We bought a Ferrari 488 GTB for our dealership NG Supercars and admittedly, I don't really want to sell this car. It's too good and we have some really sweet plans to modify it just right. We already bought a Kline Inconel exhaust with heat shields and will install that as soon as it arrives. We might also lower it a touch. This vid reminds me of the time we did a group drive on PCH during the lockdown in 2020, it was once in a lifetime opportunity to drive that stretch of roads at 2-3x the speed limit with no annoying traffic or cops at the south or north ends. Absolute heaven on earth

I've done the PCH 1 route many times when living in Los Angeles and it's glorious, but you don't want to be on it around the section from Malibu to Santa Monica on a Sunday as all the AARP members come out driving half the speed limit. LOL. If there is a next time for you, try to hit up Latigo Canyon Road which starts from PCH1 and leads up to Mullholland Road (aka The Snake). It's a very windy and technical road up into the mountains with great scenic views and elevations changes. I believe it's also one of the routes James Dean used to practice driving his Porsche and Matt Farah I believe does his one-take videos up there occasionally.
Also, on PCH1 is Neptune's Net which has delicious seafood before the first "Fast and Furious" movie came out (sadly, its now more of a tourist trap). In the movie, it's where Bryan and Torretto go to eat fried seafood after racing the Ferrari in the Supra (also on PCH1).
And I agree what you mean about turbo cars. They can be modded to sound mean. I have a 997.2 Turbo 6 spd built by AIM Performance making a hair north of 1000bhp at the motor (815 whp) and when the external wastegates open up, it scares women, children, and small animals. lol. However, I am contemplating selling the 911 Turbo to possibly step into either a 488 or a 296 later down the line (and if I do, I will be reaching out to you for your services and advice).
Anyways, another great video Dan and keep up the great work! Your videos hold a wealth of knowledge and I use them to try to learn as much as possible about Ferraris in order to decide if I should I make the plunge or not.

The PCH is a fun highway to drive. Glad you had the opportunity to drive it in a fantastic car! I did it in a *slightly* less fun car, a 2011 BMW M3, also red, but a true manual.

When the I started the video, I did not expect to see you on the Pacific coast highway with a new Ferrari! LOL I have not drove that road yet, but I hear it is epic.

I can't stand it when people don't drive these amazing cars. I have my dash setup so that it displays DTE instead of the odometer reading because I totally don't care about the dang mileage. I'm digging this 488. I hope you mod it and keep it a few months.

dan could you comment (maybe make a video?) about lowering cars and putting wheel spacers on them? my friends 812 is lowered on novitec springs and has some spacers. it definitely looks better than mine but im worried about modifying a suspension that had a lot of R&D put into it

I love your new business position. It’s a big step up from garage upgrades you did for the past 5 years. But I’m trying to understand how your able to afford these cars with less than 100,000 subs. I see all these cars your purchased still sitting in the Howard. Can u help us understand what the hell is going on? It took me 15 yrs before I could buy my 430 that’s with working as an industrial engineer with GM. Owing a home living normal life family college ect. Thanks again for your inspiration to all of us gearheads.

It’ll still sound like any other big engine turbo car. Close your eyes and it could be a Porsche, M series bimmer, my old Alpina B7, take your pick. They sound like dishwashers regardless of exhaust.
Close your eyes and listen to a 458, even stock and it sounds like a Ferrari. Bang, burble pop. Add Fabspeed headers and S line and it’s arguable the best sounding supercar ever, even with stock cats.
488 is more refined, 458 is more fun and more Ferrari

Is the binnacle or other dash bubbling? Can you do a video on repair or feature a shop that specializes in this? Someone we can send things to? I heard it’s a very common problem.

While I think that the 458 is still a better looking car, the 488 really isn't bad. There is, unfortunately, one visual feature on the 488 that I absolutely can't stand and that is the body colored uprights in the large opening in the nose. I'm sure that along with the area below the grill that they are supposed to evoke the design of their F1 cars from the time (like the F138), but all I see is a gaping hole with the uprights. I much preferred the canards used to fill that space on the 458, or the treatment that the Pista got. Even without the S-duct it would look so much better than what is on the 488 GTB. Still, it's a great car. Good luck explaining it all to Meg.

Because of the turbos and torque curve you can stomp the snot out of all C7 Corvettes, all newer model Camaro’s, Scat pack Dodge’s and Mustang’s and hang or possibly best C8’s. Sometimes you just want to take comers to Gabblebee’s!

Performance aside, the 488 with no blessing from pininfarina looks a step down from 458. The two intake holes on the sides break up the lines and the front bumper is a bit buck tooth like. The rear has two matte blk plasticky looking trims next to taillights… plus it’s not as reliable with the turbo (I forgot what component my Ferrari tech says fail often and $$). And doesn’t sound as good as everyone knows (f8 tops it by sounding worse)… yeah do we really need more power to go into a ditch. Anyways, a very fast car just doesn’t generate a lot of desire. Just my 2c. But yes I love those bucket seats

@@normalguysupercar True. But I bought my Tributo and frankly I was disappointed because it just missed the criteria when it came to exhaust sound and the turbo noise as you mentioned earlier. I drove it 4000+ kilometers (let's say 2500 miles more or less) and found myself enjoying it more and more because what it lacks in one department it made up for in others. I wanted my friend's 430 (It's a awesome car) but after driving both recently I found myself liking the Tributo more. I will always miss that awesome exhaust sound of the 430 make no mistake but the handling on the Tributo is soooooo much better and it's more comfortable. I did found one downside though and that is that at times it feels like if the aircon just stops working and when I switch it off and start it up again it starts working like if there was nothing wrong with it. I will be sending it to the dealership to get checked. Anyway to get back to what I was saying is. Don't drive it too much because you will get attached to it the more you drive it

I was "crushed" when you sold the 458. You need to get back on track. List the 488 for STUPID money and see what bites. If nobody shows up to buy it....then by the laws of the "playground", it's yours.

At least with Lamborghinis, you don’t have to modify them to make them sound good. I have a 458 and it’s great, but the sound is no where close to my Huracan.
