One of the most heartbreaking things I've ever seen. I cried a few times watching this. Nick refused to talk to the media about Arthur's death. He decided to make his own statement, and it is a beautiful one at that.

Lost my only child, Julien at the age of 13, suddenly, violently and unexpectedly, ten years ago this year. It's true, once you are a parent your identity is so tied to the child you devoted your life to, it feels like the floor has dropped out from under you. An alien in an alien world, with the heavy cloak of grief covering you and pushing you down further and further till you feel like you cannot bare it any longer. It's like a nuke has been thrown on your once safe and happy life. The color literally disappears and you are left sifting through the rubble that was your life for years asking yourself, "Why? How could this have happened? Was there anything I could have done?" Over and over again to the point of absolute madness. "Why can't I just hold him/her one more time? Let me just talk to them, I would do anything, just... please!" It took me seven years to come close to any kind of peace with it... But there is no real answers, no closure - just the memories that you have of that part of yourself that is more precious than you are. The one thing death can never take from you is the most rare and pure kind of love - unconditional love and the love that your child had for you... Death cannot TOUCH that... My heart goes out to Nick, his wife Susie and the rest of the family trying to find their way through the most devastating of tragedies...

God bless you Laura... may you know the peace that surpasses understanding through the perfect love of our father in heaven. It is my sincere hope that we can find a path to give love to others in any capacity possible until the day we leave this sovereign designed earth, to join all those who wait in eternity, to live joyously in a perfectly ordered relationship with our father God, and those we love so dearly.

Thank you for this, Laura. I know a Baul, a tantric master of the highest order. She said recently that the only thing she still cannot manage in this life is death. The confusion of it, the utter unknowability, the sudden and absolute devastation of it... all of it is beyond us, beyond understanding and religion and nice things we say to each other. Please know that in this brother- and sisterhood of death, that you are not alone, that so many of us have lost that one who matters the most, that one who gave color to life. I don't know if it means anything, I don't know if it helps, but you are not alone.

Laura it’s my worst nightmare. I am so sorry for what happened and the suffering you are still going through. You surely never really get ‘through’ it but you have to make another kind of life and keep going. Bless you xxxx

I surely wish this got nominated for best documentary feature at the Oscars. It’s a goddamn effective movie and even if you haven’t lost a child you can relate to Nick Cave’s feelings of isolation and loss. God bless that guy, and I hope he finds peace eventually.

As a fellow parent who lost a son of 16 years old, I could relate to Nicks comments fully. In fact - even though it seems he was lost for words - he put into words what I could only feel. Yes, time is elastic and it regularly snaps you right back to the moment.... and yes I too am a different person since my son left us.

Sorry for your loss. We all change, and are even forced to change when someone close to us dies. If we don't adapt, we die or go insane, simple as that. My father died 5 years ago when i was 20 and it's so strange that as i was typing this a close friend of mine just texted me that his dad passed away of lung cancer. Enjoy and be good to those who love you, that's all i can say.

One of the best documentaries I've ever seen. Cave's observant and philosophical musings intertwined with those incredible performances of his haunting music and the touching interviews - it was such an amazing experience to watch. The cinematography was absolutely stunning. Even the trailer is mind-blowing!

Only time I've experienced the entire audience surrender to the moment and not move until the titles had run, the curtains had closed and house lights came on

This video trailer helped my group get a perfect score for a presentation done in a "understanding personality adjustment disorder" course class. The trailer along with a short personal account of being diagnosed with it after my Mom passed felt so very comforting. I Love Nick Cave

I think Nick Cave is amazing - - - and i can not imagine the sorrow he has felt in the last year. I would love to see this film; as with anything; his creativity is enchanting - - - Being in Canada - and in a town that has no movie theatres - I don't know if I will get to see it. The album (CD) Skeleton Tree - is heartbreaking and beautiful.

Sadly, it is the loss of a second son of his that has led me to discover this documentary. Words fail me.

I too have found this only after learning of the death of another of Nick Cave's sons. I met Nick Cave briefly in 1992 after an amazing performance. My heart goes out to him and his family.

+Yes Sir! WOW, again, amazing how people are so cold calling it a "shame" when someone has been completely traumatized bares their soul and the worst pain you can possibly imagine! What did you think it would be like? A Pixar movie? Maybe you should stick with comedies...

Nick's films on Demand are viewable on all the wrong networks, owned by big tech corp's of which we now know its better nòt to make use of, due to their global control / surveillance network they all participate to sett up. Are there still alternatives to watch this doc. ?
