FSD currently gives people greater safety (like having a few extra pairs of eyes to look where you can’t and a backup when errors are made), much easier navigation in unfamiliar areas, and far less stress, particularly in busy traffic. I certainly would not want to go back to driving without it. And, in the near future, it will be much more: Able to completely disengage yourself from driving (sleep, work, play, etc during your ride), send your car off on its own to ferry friends/family, have it drop you off before going to find parking and pick up after, and becoming a profitable robotaxi. Completely changes everything.

None of my family has ever has a VW and there isn’t any EV they make that is attractive! Even the ID4 that is made in the US only has they hyper expensive models at our nearby dealerships! ID2 is the best most attractive one for me but I’d have to know the price first.
It's important to note that BYD has had a rash of exploding vehicles over the past year. Not just BYD though, several other Chinese EV's as well. Yes, Tesla's have caught fire but not spontainiously.

Imagine what would have happened if Elon had decided to build normal gas cars. Tesla would be building 20 million a year by now for 40% of what it costs VW to build a car. VW is using 100 year old production methods. They can not change.

About build quality, a very documented issue is the wide space between panels. On the left side if the var it is a quarter of an inch, on the right side a whopping half inch. A detailer on youtube also showed for some teslas how poor the paint job can be. It is irregular though. It just shows that quality assessment is extremely poor. Always go check your tesla before buying and make sure they send the car you vetted.
I keep looking at the long range ID3 but pricing is just stupid for the tech you get, I do like the look of the shape but will probably go for a Chinese 2nd car all down to price
With the more affordable model the sales will grow, but I doubt unsupervised FSD will only be $99, more likely $199/$299 you have to calculate in that this will have to cover insurance as tesla now have the liability, so the product will become very different.
Might be more like $1k, because why sell robotaxis for peanuts when you could use them yourself and make bank? They might sacrifice some revenue for immediate profit and divestment of liability but they wouldn’t sacrifice the vast majority of the revenue. Depends what the expected profit margin will be for robotaxis.

VW EVS - poor charging infrastructure (non-Tesla). Expensive. Worst problem - EV buyers want fully connected smart phones on wheels. Either young people who expect this, or slightly older buyers who are willing to pay for an EV, but still expect this. Anything less is simply not acceptable or appealing to modern savvy buyers...and this (of course) is where Legacy Auto are massively failing...the change has been swift and brutal....

The newest versions of the ID.3, 4/5 and especially ID.7 are very competive, and are doing well in Norway, with all three in the top 10 list of new car sales.

VW doesn't have a compelling car that the Chinese people want. VW need smarter engineers in software and a better way to mass produce cars so they can make money.
