Forgive us, english is not our mother language. We mean the area where the glovebox is normally present on a car - A pillar, passenger side. You can set the connector where you like actually, as long as it is reachable in case you need an update.
Hi, yes it works on 650S. However we didn't shoot videos at the time, so we will take more videos for evidence and guidance during installation after February as Chinese New Year holidays will be over and we can get the cars! The one shown in the video indeed is a 570S system, good catch!
Hey, two questions: any chance to make a demo with a unit from the 650S? Also, can you please show how to operate the AC controls while Carplay is running?

@@mysupercarexpert thanks a lot for the reply. Even though I am very much looking forward to seeing more videos, my real hope is that you guys will eventually develop a similar unit for the 720S :) I have no doubts that with the experience you will gain in this project, you will have no trouble cracking the Iris unit in the 720S too. Keep up the good work!

Also, forgot to ask: the biggest advantage of your unit is keeping things looking as close to OEM as possible. The external microphone, however, is a bit of a deal breaker. It screams aftermarket and simply doesn't belong anywhere in the interior of a $300k car. Isn't there a chance to adapt the wiring, so that the OEM microphone is used instead? Ultimately, the OEM microphone MUST be wired somewhere in the stock wiring harness connecting to the unit... so it should be possible to tap into it, as you're inserting your wiring in between, right? There's a vendor in the Porsche world, which offers a similar product to yours. Their name is Mr12Volt, and with their product, they have managed to integrate the stock microphone into the wiring of the Carplay box.
Hi, sorry for the late answer. Unfortunately at the moment we could not figure out a solution to use OEM mic, although we can for Ferrari so it is possible we figure it out later on... without complicating installation any further. For now we don't want to make any promises as we focus on testing the current kit on as many models as possible to expand the range of potential users!
@@samn1217 Here is our video on our own 12C. th-cam.com/video/8TD_EhmXOC4/w-d-xo.html Note that we swapped the IRIS head unit because it was an old 12C using IRIS 1. Modern 12C (or those where replacement was done before) use IRIS 2 just like 650S which works fine.
Will make tests on car after February when we get back to work and get cars to test. Unfortunately our solution in this moment works only on carplay and huawei systems, as Android Auto doesn't really work in China where our development is, so it's harder to do testing etc.
"Put the USB connector in the glove box" - Mclarens don't have glove boxes !

Does this work on a 650s? Your video shows the install on a 650s but the demo seems to be using a 570s' IRIS unit?

Hi, please can you supply the link to the unit used. thank you.

Is this actually apple carplay or is it an android based system made to look like apple carplay like some other solutions are doing?
It's Apple Carplay working with Apple phones only. We actually do not support Android yet, only Huawei's kernel!
@mysupercarexpert it seems the link is now claiming android auto support? Can you confirm? Also wondering if a 570s install video will be coming.

Will this work in a 2013 McLaren 12C? That unit has a different button layout than my 12C.
