- An Inside Edition investigation found that you might not always be getting clean bedsheets when you stay at a hotel. We visited rooms at different hotels and sprayed messages on the sheets using washable paint only visible under UV light. We checked out and booked into the same rooms the next evening. When we switched on the UV light, the painted messages were still there. The hotels #InsideEdition
Next time I stay at a hotel, I’ll put a note under the sheets that says “If you’re reading this, they didn’t change the sheets”

My best experience at a hotel was when I asked for the sheets to be changed, and they were not. I took the sheets and put them out in the hall, and was promptly escourted from the hotel for causing a fire hazard.
What an experience 😲☹️

I used to think my cousin was ridiculous for bringing her own bedding to every hotel, until one time, she started unmaking the bed to put her own bedding on and there was a 2 day old opened newspaper under the the blanket. Grossed me out so much! 🤢
Oh no!. How did you both cope?. I hope you've had counseling for such a tragic incident?!.
Oh my goodness so scary 😰😰😰
I had what looked like red paint smeared across the sheets at what was supposed to be a fancy resort. They came and changed the sheets and even took the towels too. They refunded the fee and gave me a discount but afterwards, I have always been extra careful and check everything when I first go into a hotel room. I disinfect all surfaces and make them change the sheets while I watch.
@TaylorSchabusiness1💀
I have always pulled back the comforter and inspected the sheets thoroughly when staying at a hotel. A few times they looked clean but had a random hair strand or two between the flat and fitted sheets. I took that as a sign they were not changed. Whenever that happened or anything else about the bedding looked suspicious, e.g., wrinkles on only one side of bed, I would request a new set of sheets.
When checking out, I always pull the sheets and pillow cases off of the bed and leave them in a wrinkled pile on the floor along with all of the towels I've used. Therefore, it 1) makes the housekeeper's job easier and 2) pretty much guarantees that the next guest will be getting clean sheets.
I worked as a housekeeper.
The static from the dryers causes some hair to stick to the sheets, not a lot but there will be the occasional hair there. I checked for hair when I did the bedding but you cant catch them all.
That's incredibly thoughtful 👍
I love how they spend their time exposing people😂

Would have been nice to give recognition to the other 6 that did change the sheets.
Cleaning something properly isn't exactly a commendable achievement. They're all supposed to do their jobs...
Maybe, but it wouldn't have been nice to know which hotels hold a higher checking standard?
Hi
+Julia Saeore It depends on the worker. Not so much the actual hotel or owner.
+beaverchops08 Agreed. They did this for views and money.
One time my friend and I stayed at a Econo lodge hotel and we found a dark long piece of hair under one of the pillows that was already there and an empty condom wrapper behind the nightstand on the floor so I’m not surprised that these hotels aren’t changing their sheets🤷🏼♀️ they definitely need to be held accountable for doing this, it’s disgusting.
This happened to me the sheets were so nasty. When I showed the manager she was so rude. I ended up leaving the hotel. This is why I always take my light every time I stay at a hotel.
My mom used to be a housekeeper at a hotel and Everytime I came with her she would change the pillows and the sheets which made me happy
Because its standard thing to do. You know, good on your mum and everything, no hate there, but it shouldn't be an achievement for doing what you're supposed to do in the first place 😂
Merrilie Sarah Gibbs you might as well just appreciate it
Awe no fair I wish my mom can be a housekeeper so I can be with her and explore every place in the hotel where she cleans 😜
True cuz when I call my mom she's always changing the pillows and the sheets from the bed
Merrilie Sarah Gibbs I agree to some extent but I also believe that we should be more appreciative of that because not everyone does what they’re supposed to do... it’s like when the cashier tells you that you left your change behind instead of keeping it for themselves knowing that there’s no proof that he/she didn’t give you back... appreciate the good, because there’s so much bad
Imagine seeing a bunch more glowing spots when using the black light

Or... what you could do is immediately call housekeeping and ask them to change the sheets. They don't get to question you or argue with you about it, so they'll do it (even if they feel it's unnecessary, which may or may not be) and you'll then have clean sheets.
If the hotel managers knew Luminol doesn’t wash off, they could have disputed the allegations. Luminol has to be removed by alcohol based products. It would’ve been better to use a washable ink. However I strongly believe the sheets weren’t changed at all. The chances of washed sheets ending up in the same room is rare.
That’s pretty impressive knowledge. But what’s even more impressive and true is that it is very rare for sheets to end up in the same room. Hotels can dispute this and win.
Sorry Inside Edition, but you didn’t tie all loose ends in this one.
Edit: with this new evidence, I believe the hotel maids DO change the sheets every time.
@@mikenelson8377 you think the sheets will dry off in the one day gap and they would reuse the same sheet in that room? Instead of a replacement one, if they really clean it?

So I'm not surprised that some house keepers don't change the sheets.. which yes, is absolutely disgusting. They need more time.
I'm sure. I would think need at least an hour just to properly sanitize the room without breaking themselves.
Fully agreed. When I ran my Airbnb. It took least half an hour to an hour to thoroughly clean a room after the guest check out
Maybe need more employees..... they should Hire more people and not risk others to dirt ....
Maybe they should mark the room unavailable while the cleaning is not yet over (While taking the time of course)

Canada OMG I agreeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!
ugh, No. This 'test' still isn't completely proven + unfortunately, if 1 day old bed sheets don't dramatically culture diseases etc (any reason for business to stop) It's really not in the govt's interest to supervise -they don't have money to be throwing in obscure places like that. I mean... when sleeping anywhere but the bed you clean, why would you actually expect it to be as clean? Upsetting, but true.

For all the people saying "it could just have not washed out" consider this.
Washing bedsheets in hotels is done in batches. It is very unlikely you would get your own sheets back. Also, this experiment was done to see if they change the sheets, not wash them.
@@franksanchovezyou’re disgusting.
I just wanna say, the workers there who clean and change bedsheets, they’re supposed to change them but if there’s an unused bed, they leave it as it is because they give them a short amount of time to clean room, if they don’t do it in that amount, they get in trouble. They give them very LITTLE time. It’s the hotels fault not the workers. If they gave them more time, there’s a wayyyy higher chance of them changing the sheets. I know this because my mom used to work at a hotel and she told me.
Just remember that it’s not often that this happend. These hotels just have bad service, but that doesn’t mean every other hotel has. So please don’t get too terrified

Once they actually wash them it will. Some hotels just pull out the sheets, flip them over and put them in another room if it's only been one night.
Plot twist the invisible spray paint was actually permanent paint

but you have to change sheets, and if it was permanent and they washed it, how would it get in the same room again in every hotel?
But even if it was I should have been a different sheet
Hattie Dunham it wouldn’t have made a difference
It's almost a guarantee that you will not get clean sheets in any hotel owned by people from India or the middle east. My ex girlfriend used to work at several hotels in several states and every single one was owned by them, and they were made to not wash them unless they looked dirty. True Story
Isnt this like totally............... politically inncorrect!
I had a terrible experience from a hotel in TN where the manager was from India. The sheets were so dirty it was disgusting. I called reception and ask for a change of sheets when he finally came and changed them they looked dirty and disgusting again. I was so upset I asked for a refund but they told me because I booked online they were unable to do so.
I don't want to sound racist, but it's true!
I travel with my husband for business to Middle East, India, Bangladesh. These 3 places 4 stars 5 stars hotels don't change bedsheets everyday.
And I have Muslim friend who went for Haj pilgrimage to Holy Mecca, stayed at Orchid Hotel (prime hotel) for continuous 1 week. The whole week, the bedsheets wasn't changed, she asked the male chamberstaff who was from Bangladesh why not? He said, he was busy overwhelmed to manage 60 rooms in 1 shift. He also said, he didn't change her bedsheet, her parents bedsheets because he observed them to be clean. She bribed him with money to give her & her family new bedsheets and towels (yes, they weren't given fresh towels for a week).
Please redoit again on the same hotels and rooms to see if they finally cleaned them
so why not mention the name of hotels that did change sheets??? I mean, so that people would know which ones to stay in 🤔🤔🤔🤔
