High altitude (extreme) places where its oxygen level is 30% Indian troops work 24×7 running killing terrorists...citizens of high altitudes are so mentally and physically fit .I saw 50 + years old village women carrying child and 50 kgs logs on shoulders walking long distances climbing steep roads in north east villages

My Land is a God Gifted Land . I'm a proud Khasi myself.
I just feel we should preserve our culture, heritage, and traditions, and always be a nature loving people.
We should be able to harvest rain water, but sadly, our educational system does teach us this.
I urge every Khasi, Garo, Jaintia, and Bhoi to always be taking the responsibility to take care of our beautiful God Gifted land and preserve the cleanliness and the sanctity of it to the fullest.
My Grandmother told me that those vertical standing stones(monolith) are carried by people and placed in the battlefield while fighting against the British, to make them look like tall strong people from afar and scared the British army away.

I used to be a rain lover too until the devastating flood hit our state Tripura a few weeks ago, killing many, displacing thousands, affecting almost 1.8 million people. Running down our state and devastating the society and wildlife. Now every time I hear rain, my heart starts racing.

We always live with rain but it's ok nothing happened to us if Meghalaya is flood i don't others state what will happened because is hilly areas so no problem for us
Here in Meghalaya it's rain for 1 month nonstop especially in Mawsynram and Sohra......in my village it rain for 2 to 3 week nonstop

Meghalaya is just an Indic exonym, name given to that place in the 1970s
The locals speak Austroasiatic & Tibeto-Burman languages, so they have local names to call their place.
What is the native name, if any? I think it was because native names were based on tribal boundaries, no native names were there for the state as the state did not exist earlier.
Only the garos of meghalaya migrated from tibet, the khasis and the sub tribe pnar has migrated from cambodian and indonesian region.

Because Cherrapunjii is the name given by the British as they couldn't pronounce Sohra & most prefer to call their places by their original names to preserve their heritage

I live in Guwahati, Assam, and Meghalaya is like 20 km from my home. I've visited there many times with my friends and family. But I have yet to explore the majority of Meghalay.

It's not odd for women to run shops. I don't know why the youtuber feels odd. Just because meghalaya is a matrilineal society that doesn't mean it should be odd that women runs the business.. M'en do run businesses too here. Everyone had to had a certain job right to run their family. M'en are also hardworking it's just that they do more manly works..

Khasis are an ancient race of people who existed before Abraham's Patriarchal World & is one of the last surviving people that still practice the matrilineal system.
Infact the method of pottery is without the potters wheel so predates the invention of the wheel.

In North & Central India, you won't find many women outside, or as shopkeepers.
Only in the NE, SW-Coast, or Ladakh, those cultures have women on equal footing.
That is not true, I think you should travel more in rural India majority of rural India women own and run business on equal footing with men
Excluding Assam, Assam is not safe for female same as mainland india.

Paan is not like a regular food/snack. The paan leaves are minty in taste and are eaten with bettel nuts with some lime in it. It is basically eaten to have a fresh breath after a heavy food. But some people like it so much that they chew it more often and seems to be addicted to it.
There are some hills, but the land is a flat plateau.
The plateau has sudden drop offs into cliffs you see here.
Meghalaya's theme is " half way to heaven"
for indian snacks visit the indian supermarkets or shops in usa, anywhere....you will get a tonne of it

Yes We did have earthquakes not some but many because of Our Indian tectonic plate is constantly crashing into euresian tectonic plate. And this collision created The Himalayas, world highest mountain range. Do you know Himalayas grow about 1 inches every year if I am not wrong.
