Noel, I am a former captain at boutique. I loved it, great people to work with and they treated me very well. As with all airlines boutique air has its struggles. I appreciate you giving boutique another chance. Glad you enjoyed it. I flew a lot with the captain you flew with. I watched him work himself up the ranks from gate agent to captain. He’s a great pilot and I’m glad you got that amazing opportunity!!! Thanks!!!
@VeteranPilot this was 2017-2019. Much better company culture back then. I came from a company called dynamic prior to flying for boutique. They were awful. 12$ an hour no benefits and flying 4-8 hours made boutique look lovely haha
I appreciate you giving them another chance, but honestly I think it's pretty clear that you got treated so well because you're well known. When I saw the previous video, I felt like I was given a decent insight as to how the general public would expect to be treated by this company. This is by no means a knock on you, you're an awesome youtuber with a deservingly large following. I just get a little irked when I see a company only make up for prior mistakes only because it went public.
So they noticed a new booking by Noel Philips and all alarms went off in the office. From PR to HR, from Sales to After Sales and Flight Crew, all were in the highest state of alert to let this flight happen as smoothly as possible. They even went to upgrade Noel from his booked seat the the "business class". Even ATC was informed this was a high priority flight. Heck, even AF1 was diverted because this flight was in the area. (ok ok, going to far here, but this is how I imagined how it went that day)
Thankful for this flight review for not having any problems on board unlike last time, and this flight is even cooler as the pilot made you fly right beside him due to weight restrictions, making you feel like you are among their staff members, and as if you were their co pilot!
Flying on KLM business class to Toronto in the early 90s, I was sat next to the KLM Inspector of Pilots. When he went up to the flight deck, he took me too. The co-pilot leapt up and gave me his seat. The Northern Lights were literally exploding across the sky, but still not sure how they flew/landed those Jumbos with such tiny windows.
@@cardiac19That’s a common theme among all the pilots I know. They’re at their happiest when they’re in the sky and the plane isn’t giving them any issues.
That's another complaint I had with the two companies I mentioned previously (last Boutique Air video): telling you they'd do something for you and then utterly failing to come through. I'll keep Boutique Air on my do-not-fly list. Nice video, Noel, thank you.
As an old exchange student from Belgium who spend almost a year in Carlsbad, this video brought back a lot of great memories ! Thanks a lot Noel ! If you ever fancy a lift, I am now an FO on B747.
Fair play to you Noel. If an airline let me down, not just with being unable to get to your destination, not once, but twice, and the poor customer service after the previous flight, I wouldn't fly with them again. But big up to you for giving them another go. 👍
On the first leg, from Albuquerque to Carlsbad, there actually was a first officer, Noel. After all, you are a licensed private pilot. What a great flight. Boutique took good care of you, and you gave them a chance to redeem themselves, which they did.
What a great experience! You seem like a properly friendly gentleman, so it was really cool of them to acknowledge that when they reached out to you. Good on them for trying to make things right with you ✌🏻
I got the right seat in a Trislander, Negril to Kingston with Trans Jamaican Airlines. As it happened, this was the day before my first flying lesson (not on a Trislander).
I'm a former employee to United ground Express. I can tell you The Sunport has issues with safety, so much so that the FAA came in to investigate the company and even forced employees off that were obsessively written up. I can tell you tho that Boutique Air does have a good record out here in Albuquerque. They have had a issue where a plane had problems and the Military fire brigade came in to escort the plane. Thankfully nothing to bad. Yes the military fire crew come because AFR dont have a facility and we share with Kirkland AFB.
In a previous video on Boutique Air, one of the ex-pilots gave us an insight into the airline, who are clearly penny-pinching asset strippers. The staff and pilots are far too good for the people who own the company. I once had a contractor who was made of the same material. He owned the company and employed others to do all the work. He came in now and then but was mostly on the golf course by 10 in the morning. I sense something like that is going on with Boutique Air. I will never fly with them, nor will anyone I know. It's a pity because if they were run properly, their people were treated right and they had a good customer service system, they have a nice product to offer.
I loved the fact you told the check in guy the last time wasnt good. Fantastic honest channel and long may it continue. It helps hugely with my mental health all the best to you Noel
Once flew in copilot seat on a little 6 seater out of Dublin to Blackpool only a short flight but it was pitch black and pouring with rain the whole way and the runway only came into view around 50foot .... had nothing but admiration for the pilot flying instuments only.
My wife and I discovered your channel this week and all we’ve watched are your fantastic videos - wow what a lot of interesting adventures Please keep up the amazing work and stay safe
Living in Albuquerque, I had no idea Boutique Air was still operating. I thought Advanced Air bought them out years ago. Advanced Air operated similar routes out of Albuquerque with the similar type of planes.
How was your experience with advanced air they fly out of Merced and it’s the closest airport to me and I would be flying to Los Angeles and back but I don’t want to get stranded the other only close airport would be Fresno international and that’s an hour away
I had the privilege of sitting in the right seat on San Juan Airlines from SEA to Bremerton, Wa in 1979 and 1980 a few times. The only problem was the flight wasn't long enough - about 20 minutes as I recall across the Sound in a Cessna I think it was. Forty plus years tends to dulls one's memory a bit.
Good to see they fixed the precious problem. I hope they would do the same for everyone. Your reviews always try to find the positives and give the benefit of doubt.
Love your critique of Boutique Air. Their service sounds dismal. Flying in the copilot seat is cool. Did they offer you the seat for a better review? They should know better. You look quite happy in the front with the pilot. What a treat.
They probably did it without actually asking in hopes he would enjoy himself and give a better review. And I’m okay with it given that it wasn’t actually a direct bribe.
Sweet Pilatus... thought "TBM" at first due to the e-pod on the wing, but the panel shot fixed that misapprehension of fact. You do the best flight vids, not only on airlines, but trains and your General Aviation channel. Those Pipers are awesome. I hear they require special training to operate the engine and prop.
I recently took this flight to Carlsbad from Albuquerque and back, and overall it was a good experience. As most people who have only flown with the larger airlines and in larger aircraft, I was not sure what to expect with Boutique. The flight was on time for the departure from ABQ, and the air was smooth once we got to our cruising altitude, which the pilots informed us would be the case for this flight. The ground staff and air crew were professional and polite. On the return flight to ABQ, a dust storm rolled in and the pilots decided to return to the terminal and wait for the wind to recede, which seemed like a good idea. As we waited for the weather delay in the terminal, the first officer brought out a tray of snacks and offered everyone on the flight, which was nice; compared to my experience with American/Southwest, where you will wait 2-3 hours for a mechanical delay, and they will offer nothing.
Lucky you..that was phenomenal...I was asked to ride up front in a train once...fun but not quite as exciting as being in the first officer 💺 Seat. Thank you Noel for the work you do bringing us these videos....top man you are! Really enjoy them..a little piece of fun in relaxation watching them. Appreciate your work.

Another awesome video Noel, enjoy watching your channel. I’ve been lucky enough to experience the right hand seat of a PC12 on quite a few occasions including into Courchevel. Amazing aircraft.
Late watching this video, when I heard Albuquerque I thought your in my state. Then I heard Carlsbad and thought he was in my city for a few. Glad it wasn’t one of the ridiculous windy days we’ve been having here the last two weeks.
I have a theory... they ditched the First Officer back in Carlsbad originally as they saw your name on the flight manifest for the ABQ leg and decided that they didn't want to risk another hammering on their PR side of things, so the vice president asked specially for you to ride up front to turn that review into a positive one - nowt to do with weight and balance, that's all a handy excuse when flying a plane!
I’ve got to admit that similar thoughts. But at the same time I do feel that it was a fair extra compensation on top of the refund given what he experienced.
Oh, you should have stopped for a day in Carlsbad. Carlsbad Caverns (hence the airport name!) are SPECTACULAR and so much worth visiting -- to the extent that when we did a road trip from Las Vegas to Dallas, we basically centered the trip around going there! But great video!
Great video. Reminds me of flying in the co-pilot’s seat on Nature Air on a Caravan in Costa Rica. It was a blast seeing the beach and the volcanos. The Captain was a great tour guide.
Seems like Boutique Air was on damage control. I still wouldn't trust them. I can assure you that they went right back to ripping off customers. How do I know this? It's called life experience.

Great video Noel! I took this plane from ABQ to Denver via a small mountain town in Colorado a few years ago. I had no idea I had booked a tiny plane and spent ten minutes wandering around the airport looking for my flight! When I finally found the hand drawn sign 'Boutique Air' stuck on a wall and saw the plane I wasn't sure I could on a plane that small! I had a great experience with them.
