@@charlee_hotel - can't speak to your question, but to clarify: these are speeches at the reception, not during the wedding ceremony. If you've seen movies that include weddings, you've probably seen this kind of thing. The speeches involve things like family members telling cute stories about the bride or groom as a child, or friends who are in the wedding party telling a sweet story about how the couple met or what makes them think that marriage will last. Sort of tributes to the bride, the groom, or the couple.

The wedding hasn't happened yet for it to be ruined but one of my old acquaintances from high school told me if I ever got married that he'd run through my wedding naked screaming "The end is nigh!" Because he couldn't believe that I would eventually marry somebody.

I am a guest who ruined the wedding.
While living in Asia, i ve worked for very wealthy sweet family, and we all have been invited to a wedding of my boss work partner in company.
The second groom saw me, he was stunned... His eyes were shining, smiling like on a pudding, looking me deep into the eyes.... Suddenly his beautiful bride (seriously she was a 10) was completely invisible... Groom was trying to sit with us at the table, talk to me only, following me everywhere on his own wedding.... I ve managed to ask my boss and his family to evacuate or help me to get taxi, because this is horribly awkward.. When car arrived, groom run on the other side, trying to get into the car with me... My boss managed to get him away so i could escape... Was feeling terribly sad for his bride and whole family, it was weird...
    I m not a 10, more like a 7,
Wasn't flirting, wasn't giving any looks, literally gave best wishes to a couple and crack few jokes with them all...
I still don't know what the hell, but this memory stays with me forever

my mother in law decided the wedding was a perfect time to tell everyone that she didn't like our theme... (harry potter) she didn't like the food (because it wasn't catered) didn't like my dress (I had a vision since I was very little of getting married in a medieval style dress my cousin MADE said dress by hand as her wedding gift to me) she didn't understand why I didn't go down the aisle to DUN DUN DA DUN (I chose Athair Ar Neamh by Enya... which I thought was beautiful and perfect) we did not get married in a church and have a huge reception at a hall (we got married at our house.... because both my husband and I decided a small wedding with friends and family was better and more economical than going into massive debt) kudo's though to my whole family that was there.... they shielded me and my husband from everything she said by keeping us very busy and away from her... so none of this was found out at the time however... none of my family (who told me about it later) were keen with her.. thankfully the JNMIL is out of our life. That sounds like an awsome wedding. Aside from the pos MIL ofc. I myself adore Enya’s songs and, have like 12 of them on my playlists (now 13 thanks to your awesome recommendation). I’m sorry for the long comment but I have to geek out about Enyas songs a bit as I rarely meet another fan. “Floras secret” holds the most nostalgia value for me, it has a special place in my heart, as it’s the first Enya song I heard when I was very young. In addition it was played at prom in the last year of middle school when we did the slow waltz like dance. I was actually able to rediscover the song when we were practicing for the dance, and that was the song that we danced to. Funnily enough I was partnered up to dance with my crush (though at the time i had already suppressed my feelings as he had gotten together with someone) when practicing dancing, I sometimes cursed when I accidentally stepped on his foot, as I was so nervous. To the extent that I probably sounded like a sailor. On the actual prom dance, the dance hall (we used our modern looking cantina) was way to small for all three classes to dance (more than 90 teens) so it was very cramped. Therefore, although I had practiced a lot to avoid stepping on his foot, it was unavoidable and occurred about two times, both of which I got so nervous that I said something along the lines of «shit, sorry». I at least ended up with a good excuse of avoiding eye contact so I could instead observe our feet to avoid stepping on him further.
Other than that, I equally love “Caribbean blue” and “Exile” as they are special songs for different reasons, the former is upbeat but also relaxing at the same time, and as the title suggest it makes me imagine an ideal tropical vacation, the last of which I have unfortunately not had since I was 4. I only remember bits and pieces but this song helps me remember and immerse myself in that feeling and relaxation I had at the time. The latter song has a beautiful and sort of haunting melancholic quality to it especially with the melodic flute like instrument that sounds like it is being played through mountainous forests. I also appreciate that although the song has a melancholic feeling, it also has a hopeful quality to it when listening to the lyrics, and melody. Anyways sorry again for the long comment but If you have not heard son of the songs I have mentioned (aside from floras secret as it is one of her more popular songs so you probably have) I highly recommend them

It wasn't a guest---Well, it did involve a guest-- but the bride was heavily involved. My cousin, twice removed, married a woman that he believed was "the one". He even broke off his "FWB relationship" with his kids' mother (a.k.a. his place-holder), so he could start his new relationship off on a honest start. He said that his fiancee was a lot more classy and beautiful than the women that he usually messed with, or, lived in his town. She reminded him of "Whitley Gilbert" from 'A Different World'. Well, anyway... At the reception, the... blushing bride... was performing some risque dance moves on several male guests. And I am talking about "twerking, doing splits and P-Popping on a headstand" type of moves. I'll give my cousin props: he did file for an annullment as soon as he could. My cousin eventually had gone back to his babies' mom and they're still together. I do feel bad for his children's mother, though. He still has his one foot in and the other foot out the door. He is still looking.

so this is a story I witnessed on a day trip in 2019. basically my family were at a festival of sorts and we went inside a hotel to find a bathroom. I'm waiting outside the stalls, which are near the dining rooms, for my mom to be ready. I see a man who looks in his 30s and a woman looking in her 60s storm out of the dining room, where I can hear other people too. the woman is shouting at the man, who I guessed was her son. she starts staying things like "you're a fucking (f slur)?!" and "you didn't even tell your own mother!". from the snippets of the convo I pretended not to listen to from behind a wall, the man was apparently gay and getting married to his fiancé, another man. the mother hadn't been told about it, in fact it was mainly the fiancé's family and a few friends who attended a small civil ceremony and the party afterwards. I assumed it was because the mother was homophobic, because jesus christ the vial things that she said. the man eventually asked a staff member passing by if she could get security, he was in absolute tears. I felt so awful for him. the mother was ushered out by a security guard, but not before yelling "I HOPE YOU AND THE OTHER (F SLUR) GET AIDS!". the man sat on the stairs nearby for a bit crying, before his now-husband comes out and brings him back in. I hope the mother goes to hell, no one should treat their own children like that.

Oh I love these lol. Not a ruined a wedding story it was actually hilariously cute to my sister(the then bride) I was told the Christmas before her spring/summer wedding that she wanted 8(?) year old me to be her flower girl! I was so happy because well my sister met the love of her life and wanted me to play such a part! I didn't know much about weddings since I've never been to one so I had no clue this was usually reserved for younger girls. Apparently they decided against doing the ring bearer and flower girl thing and I wasn't informed. I was apparently now a bridesmaid at like 9! Hella cool right?
Well I was confused when I was told to follow her friend(I hadn't met any of her friends before) down the aisle for rehearsal and was told not to pretend to spread petals. I was shaking and trying not to cry in utter confusion cause I was so lost on what was happening. No one had their dresses yet(my sister had on a pretty practice dress) and I was in jeans not even knowing what a wedding rehearsal was our why all the benches were empty aside from a few people watching for support. After the priest or whatever he was finished his practice speech we got in a little discussion circle and one of her friends noticed I was really quiet and stunned upset and I stated balling asking what the hell was going on and why we were dressed like this why I was following these strangers and wasn't I the flower girl!? You know what any confused child would do.
My sister tried consoling me but she was snickering so much from her utter shock as I'm a mess of tears and confusion xD
I know it probably sounds like I was being very immature and for anyone wondering why I didn't know her friends they were college friends from what I remember and we live in different states.
I was just so upset that I didn't know what was going on and thought I was following the wrong advice(hence the shaking) since me sister didn't tell me anything herself. Her friends just kinda took over for that part unaware of that I was completely clueless to what was going on lol.
I don't even remember the wedding really. I remember the preparation before the wedding itself and the reception though and it was so beautiful! My sister in her dress dancing with her husband and just smiling like no tomorrow. They are still married and I have an adorable nephew and niece from them! I love her a lot and even though that incident still reminds me that I have way too much anxiety apparently even from a young age it's still nice that my sister found enjoyment in it and still tried to clear things up even with all that was on her plate. I know she'd do anything for me. She even keeps bugging me to move to her state and even live and work with her lol. She's a sweetie and I have two other sisters I'm glad to call mine.

My mom often tells the story about how my older brother interrupted the wedding vows of her friend’s wedding. At the time he was about three or four years old and just generally hated churches. So after sitting for a few minutes he decided to start running up and down the isle while screaming. I’m not entirely sure how to translate this from my language, but after the priest had tried to say something to make him stop he said something like “Shut up you damn priest!” (Håll käften din prästjävel in my native language.) My parents eventually got him out of there so that the ceremony could continue. Apparently a lot of people found this funny so the wedding wasn’t completely ruined, but it did make my mom really embarrassed.

My husband's aunt, who has made the full circle a couple times of Bible thumper to addict/alcoholic and around again, was raging mad when we wanted to have the wedding at a public park and the reception at the shelter house. Nothing big, like 25 people or so. She was mad because alcohol is not permitted in parks. My husband wanted to please everyone, so we had the wedding in his parents' backyard. Whatever. I'm fairly flexible. I just wanted to be with him and enjoy the rest of our lives together. What did send me over the edge was a different aunt's boyfriend was admiring the kukri my husband wore in a sheath around his waist for the ceremony. He held up the machete and said, "this is a great N-word killer!" I don't recall exactly what I said, but it involved "piece of sh*t" and "racist mf'er." I walked/ran away from them and my husband caught up to me a minute or so later. He said he told his aunt to get that SOB out of our reception. They left, and we never saw that boyfriend again. Didn't ruin the event, but definitely was a crappy moment. We will be married 19 years in September 2022.

I'll get Grandpa to give me away," and did so. My grandpa would have been honored. My dad hadn't wanted me to get married because he wanted me to take care of him if his marriage didn't last, but I was 39 and had met the right guy so I told him was getting married whether he liked it or not. It was actually pretty minor compared to a lot of other things I've read here, and I handled it.

I ruined a wedding when I was 5. I was a flower girl for a family friend’s wedding and I did everything wrong and was the stupid horrible person that I am, and I had no concept of being quiet during the ceremony (I had never attended a church service before) and I’m pretty sure I yelled something when the bride’s sister told me to stop talking….like “stop criticizing me” or something. And then when we posed for photos everyone else is standing up straight and smiling, doing it the right way, and I’m leaning to one side with my hands on my hips and a goofy smile. Not sure I did anything bad at the reception, probably by that time I was too tired. I haven’t spoken to the bride since and I’d rather not, she probably hates me, it would probably be mortifying. Plus what if I was the reason the marriage didn’t work out? I mean this was a thing that solidified what a bad person I am. And I’m surprised the parents and other sister have been nice to me over the years.

Not mine, but my girlfriend/at the time friend’s wedding.
1 of her maids of honor worked with friend and I at a hotel. However, in the months leading up to the wedding, that MOH was acting weird.
First, she got back with her cheating ex-boyfriend (who was a maintenance guy at the the property) then broke back up with him when finding out he was still dating the first woman he had cheated on MOH for.
Then she got depressed. One night when relieving her at work, I noticed 3 cut marks on 1 of her wrists in what looked like a failed suicide attempt. A few weeks after, she covers the cut marks with a tattoo.
Finally, on the wedding day itself, she got very inebriated and became a sloppy drunk. She had ruined all the photos that were taken between the wedding and reception, got even more drunk, enough to where she couldn’t drive to the friend’s house for the reception after party. Her parents had to pick her up.
Meanwhile, I’m trying to get the bottles of wine and cases of soda for the after party. Right after I come back and ready to help set things up with the groom, the bride gets a call from said MOH’s parents. She won’t be able to make it to the after party cause she’s just short of fall-down, getting close to unconscious drunk. You can hear over the phone the MOH just incoherently screaming, and she was to also get a few things for the after party as well. I then spend another 10-15 minutes at the store getting those items so that my friend can have at least an enjoyable after party.
A few hours later, I head into work an realize “Crap, said inebriated MOH is to relieve me in the morning. Hopefully she’s sober/awake enough to replace me on time.” She did, even though I wanted to make sure she was okay.
Apparently it was an omen for things to come. Said MOH eventually got fired and arrested by cops for multiple DWIs and drinking on the job (to where she would leave the hotel to go to her car and drink the mini alcohol bottles in her center console). The bride got divorced about 7 years later after finding her husband not only was cheating on her with one of his coworkers, but got said coworker pregnant.

My daughter just got married on October 30th this year. So there were 3 things that happened and now she doesn’t even want to discuss her wedding. First of all, her so called best friend of 15 years was supposed to be her maid of honor. She showed up at the church and my daughter and I were running behind in getting there and the b!:#&h had ghosted her because she had a rave to go to so needless to say they’re no longer speaking and then her dad was pitching a fit due to us being behind schedule and stood up in front of everyone and said “This shit doesn’t need to happen anyway and he walked out and had to be chased down because she was ready to walk down the isle! Last but not least an uninvited guy who had given one of the groomsmen a ride was literally smoking weed somewhere inside the church and the Minister smelled it!!!! My daughter grew up in this church and her grandparents still attend and have for many years and it was daughter’s Youth Minister of many years that officiated so now my daughter is absolutely mortified!!!! She has written a formal apology to him but it’s still incredibly embarrassing!!!! Regardless of all that it was a beautiful wedding 😏

My little sister wedding was super stressful but amazing for the most part. I feel bad for a few things and I wish I actually enjoyed myself more instead of going hard to make things so perfect. But it's not about me it was her day. Some things I did prevent from happening is my younger brother (middle child) getting so drunk and being his usual asshole self and trying to fuck up her day.(dad and I almost beat his ass). My dad was so ready to walk her down the isle that she never got the chance to pee for like 6 hours. I felt so bad for her. I tried to stop my dad and tell him to hold on for like 10 minutes but he was off. (We laugh about it now) my sister her new husband his sister and her boyfriend sneak off to smoke weed and are crashed by our pot head aunt and my sister best friend XD they brought more weed and we got blitzed!!! The shit was awesome! I didn't realize it until the next day that I hadn't eaten anything that entire day and was just go go go until I crashed that night on my tiny little cot because I had my other siblings in town taking my bed and the air mattress. I slept so good! And my sister loved her wedding so not bad. And good riddance to my pretentious and judgmental and just all around rude ass grandma that never showed up. No one has spoken to her since a week before that day. (Months before she had been saying nothing but negative things about my sister's dress and her future husband.) My brother in law is the best and is honestly my sister's soulmate. He and my dad get along perfectly too. My grandma needed to get her head out of her ass and stop being so rude. C'est la vie!

I hate weddings, including my own (except I love my husband and obviously wanted to marry him). I was the most disinterested bride you ever saw in any of the decor etc. I didn’t want to spend a dime on the wedding. It was the barest quickest little church wedding you ever saw. I just wanted to get it over with fast and get out of there. I’m not into that “princess for a day, look at me!” bull crap. Or spending a ton of money on one day when it could go into a house instead. The most I can say for it was that I was wearing an inexpensive white wedding dress. He was in a tux. I did not want to inconvenience my relatives with some long winded ceremony. I think the whole thing was over in 30 minutes tops. No reception. No asking for gifts of any kind. Just a “thanks for coming” see you later fam 👋. It was only our closest family members there, very small. Then we took off for our honeymoon because that was going to be the fun part for us. Pretty sure we conceived our son on that trip 😂

My time has come to shine.
So when I was back in 5th grade, my friend decided to wed their animal pencil cases. I was the wedding planner and hired people, invited people, made actual rings, the whole deal. On the day of the wedding, other people decided to be nosy and crowded around us. I was shooing them off when a teacher who was most feared throughout the school came up to us and demanded to know why we were packed so tightly. The poor mother-in-law of the cat shaped pencil case had to step up and explain everything. I felt so bad for her because I was the planner and when the teacher came over, all the nosy girls ran off. The next day I held a quiet wedding for them and gave them both a wedding present to compensate for yesterday (it was those plastic diamond things that the people at my school would obsess over).
TL;DR: Small 5th grade ‘wedding’ got interrupted by uninvited girls and strict teacher when they crowded around, attracted the strict teacher to come over and demand an explanation from us and ran off like they were never there.

it didn't ruin the wedding for anyone besides my mom 32 and another dancer it happened at my aunt 30 wedding last month at the reception aunt who thought it would be a good way to save money by not hiring dancers for her song ask my mom a dancer to do it as a wedding gift mom agreed so long as aunt brought the outfit they talk about since mom was wearing slacks and didn't want to ruin them aunt forgot to get the outfit and mom didn't find out until the reception when aunt realize she forgot but mom still agree to do the dance along with the other two dancers who aunt guilt trip into doing it during the dance mom pants rip and the other dancer who saw it stop and pointed and laugh just when the other dancer turn and hit her in the face by accident mom ended up having to stuff a hand towel into her belt to cover the hole and the other dancer had a black eye and aunt got to make fun of both of them all night

Punctuation fills our writing with silent intonation. We pause, stop, emphasize, or question using a comma, a period, an exclamation point or a question mark. Correct punctuation adds clarity and precision to writing; it allows the writer to stop, pause, or give emphasis to certain parts of the sentence.
