    On 08SEP2022, my 3 month old Volvo S90 saved my life. When stopped at a light, I was rear ended by a driver under the influence of multiple drugs. He was accelerating through 70mph at impact. I sustained multiple injuries, none of which were life threatening. Incredibly, even after such a high velocity impact, the passenger cabin was perfectly preserved. I now own 3 Volvo XC90s and won’t buy any other vehicle. Thanks, Volvo, for your commitment to safety, and for saving my life. Looking forward to the next generation of Volvo vehicles!

      I agree. My wife was hit by 2 cars from behind. Cell phone teen in a brand new mustang. Both cars went under her. Seatbelts pulled back on her and my grand daughters. Car did not roll or flip.
      I looked at the rear damage and myself along with the officer were shocked. It was like a cyborg bumper. Now if you could get Volvo Body Shops to do a better job.

    Volvo has always been a product for the cerebral, out of the box consumer.. The ad was a bit esoteric, but that is the Volvo mentality the Volvo way and that is exactly what kind of customer has been attracted to this brand. I am one of those and have had many high end vehicles in my life time and I must say, the Volvo, bar none, has been the best. Thank you Volvo for making "quality" and a safe car. That has always been your commitment and you have done quite well...

    I for one can attest to the safety attributes of Volvo. I had a 2013 Volvo C70 hardtop convertible (last year of production). Almost one year ago to the day, a young lady ran a stop sign and hit me head on. Airbag deployed, front end folded and I spun around. I walked out of the car without a scratch - my glasses still stayed on my head! The flatbed driver to told me what I knew...the car saved my life. I now drive the identical car except its a 2012 - couldn't find a '13 the same color and interior - and would buy a new one if Volvo started building them again. Thanks Volvo!

    I lease a 2021 Volvo XC 60 and it is probably one of the best and safest cars I ever owned and now lease. The safety features are awesome. We drive to and from NYC to Florida and on the major highways I use auto assist and the car stays exactly in the middle of the lanes (3 car lengths behind) and it follows the roads with its curves. Of course I always keep my hand on the steering wheel. I do hope that Volvo will take back my car in 2 1/2 years like they have done in the past. We can't wait to lease our next Volvo XC 60.

    Vary happy to see Volvo to continue it´s legacy of focusing on the safety of it´s passangers.
    The only disappointment was the presentation of the EX90 - which will be yet another big-size, top$ SUV in the next gen EV market.
    Loving my XC40 - I would love that next gen being a true, smaller, EVSUV (no crossover). I guess I will have to wait a couple of more years for that.
    In any case - good luck with your development and launch! 👍

      If you complain about big size then you know next to nothing about passive security on the road.
      Go and buy some small city car if your don't like big size. But don't complain if in case of an head on accident where you will be critically injured, but the other driver in his big and heavy, old cheap pickup will be unharmed.

    That is a great preview and much aligned with the excellence we Volvo lovers came to expect.
    My main concern is the implementation of AAOS. So far Volvo's implementation of AAOS has not been close to par to the rest of the car's technology and it is so poor it makes a great luxury car feel like a popular cheap car...
    The infotainment system and interface are one of the most important, present and constant points of contact between the driver and the car's overall experience and is a strong determinant of ones perception of the car. A lot of people that came to appreciate Volvo's luxury feel (myself included) are deeply disappointed that the feeling you get from the AAOS System is that your car is nothing special when it comes to the experience and feel of this new interface...
    Volvo got it really right with Sensus, which transpired refinement, good taste, great design and exclusivity, way above the popular cheap cars but also from the other luxury cars (MB, Audi, BMW, Land Rover etc...) The AAOS implementation, today in ALL of its cars, transpires the exact opposite... A terrible step in the opposite direction of what one of the things that made the new SPA cars such a great success repositioning ans strengthening the brand as a luxury / refined car... What a blunder... I do hope Volvo is not blind sighted in this move and is able to fix it... I, for one, already decided not to buy a new XC90 because of that alone...

    Hi, It's great to see Volvo is still putting safety at the heart of its build. I have a 2021 XC60 Recharge and I would say it ticks about 90% of everything I want, so 9 out of 10 is excellent. However one of the things I struggle with is the heating controls and the touch screen. I find I'm struggling to touch the right icon or temp setting. I know you can use voice control, but this isn't always successful. I feel this is a safety issue and should be looked at. I know this is the way the industry is moving to, but is it safe!
    Also a simple device to read and check tyre pressures should be available on cars of this quality. I know we have TPMS, put you don't know which tyre it is or how low the pressure is. A couple of weeks ago, the warning came on, I was on the motorway, so pulled onto the hard shoulder and then had to get out and walk around the car, not knowing which tyre to check and to see what the pressure was. Lots of car makers have a system to tell what tyre pressures are on each wheel. So come on Volvo lets see if you can add this to the EX90?

      @@VolvoCars Hi, thank you for your reply and passing it onto the engineers. If you don't mind, I wonder if you could also pass the following comments for me please?
      I use my car to pull our touring caravan and hope that the new car comes with a good towing capacity of at least 1800kg. I noticed that the new Polestar 2 has frameless door mirrors, so this would mean that you couldn't attach towing mirrors! Another frustration for me is the air suspension, you can't control it from inside the car! When we have picked passengers up, they have struggled to get in the car, as the suspension is raised. If we switch the car off, it sometimes goes down ( not every time), it sometimes will do it while we walk away. So the ability to do this from inside the car would be very useful. I understand that manufactures have moved away from spare wheels, but again I have a spare wheel for my caravan, but can't get one for the car. Maybe the frunk could have room for a spare wheel, turned so the charge cables can be stored in the well, just a thought?
      I'm very passionate about cars and I'm always striving to get the best car for my needs. If you need me to review and test drive your cars, please let me know, lol.
      Many thanks again, David.

    I bought a V70 XC at the factory in 2001. 336,000 miles later I am thinking about buying a new Volvo. Probably the last car I will ever own. My old Volvo performed magnificently (engine, transmission, body, safety, reliability, winter driving, etc.). I have read some reviews online, and am not sure if my experience over the next 20 years would be as gratifying. I appreciate the digital safety thing, but what about the hardware? Is the Volvo brand still a step above?? Thanks.

    May 2021 I bought a V90XC wagon. I was driving in Denver and went to switch lanes to another highway. A car came on my right going much faster than I was on the passenger side, and I saw an alert on my dashboard that said "accident detection, automatic intervention". My Volvo automatically pulled to the left out of the way of the car. I also like in cruise it automatically detects the car in front and will slow to the speed to keep three car lengths behind. I had a XC 70 ten years, and so glad I bought new. Volvo for life for me.

    As a long supporter and driver of Volvo cars I welcome new technology that can make the roads safer and the driver experience better. But I see these technologies as an AID and not to be relied upon and assume they will always get you out of danger. In my years as a police officer and a police driving instructor in London too many collisions are down to bad driving. Lack of effective observation; lack of anticipation; and driving too fast too close. I recall when safety belts became mandatory a discussion on the radio that this could give a false sense of safety and security and the driver may not be as cautious. With all the tech on current cars the driver needs to understand that the laws of physics will still beat the tech and not prevent a collision. The cars I see daily in London being driven badly are those with all the tech. I welcome this new technology because even if it results in a small reduction in collisions then that is good. Well done Volvo.

    I wish I wasn't so out-priced on anything other than what I have.

    I'm a volvo fan as my old volvo has been through a few fender benders and no one has been hurt. The car is solid! My newer car has been in the shop for 2 months now with an engine problem so not sure about all the new computer stuff. My old volvo is 2001 and the newer one is 2017. So not so sure having more computerized cars is going to actually be better.

  • @falconsail1062
    @falconsail1062 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Love you Volvo, but how about starting with missed basics- offer built in recording dash cams? The cameras are already there. Then add slow moving sensors so I don’t hit the lawnmower or the bicycle in the garage, never mind a squirrel at 80 km/h. And add waist level cornering cameras so you can see gates, curbs, people, when making turns below line of sight. And rear sensors to warn of incoming fast approaching cars from the rear when traffic slows down.
    Lastly, fix the annoying tailgate foot actuator. My dog or my foot sets it off when passing underneath. And when needed with arms full, it is finicky to engage.
    Look forward to the future. Keep innovating. Thank you.

    • @nicholash8021
      @nicholash8021 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Exactly. Such an obvious oversight with the lack of recording with existing cameras even on my 2016 XC90. Secondly I agree. There should be am AUTOMATIC REAR FACING HORN for drivers who are not decelerating safely.

    • @nicholash8021
      @nicholash8021 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm speaking about activating the rear horn and flash the rear lights both when you yourself are having to decelerate quickly or when the driver behind you is detected to be approaching too fast.

      Around 3:10, he mentions it being released on all of the new EX90s. Unfortunately, you can’t retrofit LiDAR and the safety sensors on the 2022 and 2023 models that Volvo has already built. 😔 So you’d have to wait for it to come to newer 2024 or 2025 models if you didn’t want the EX90.

    Hi Jim, will the new era involve overhauling Volvo Assist? Two of the last three call-outs was done by a sub-contractor, the most recent of which knowingly fitted a non-standard and incorrectly specced replacement battery. This has led to my XC60 now needing repair. And the promised replacement hire car, via Enterprise, failed to materialise (following abysmal communications) leading to me needing to personally go and hire a car to get my son to university.
    Given the importance/promise of Volvo Assist as part of the feeling 'safe' as a Volvo owner, I doubt my next car will be a Volvo.
    Almost forgot... despite the fact that the fitting of an incorrect battery led to my car being off the road (which it still is), it seems that the Caffyns Volvo dealership have, as yet, been unable to even get Volvo to agree to sorting out the battery/repairs at their cost. Ridiculous. This should have been instant. So, to avoid mind-numbing delay, I had to tell them to go ahead and fit the battery and that I'd expect to be reimbursed. Utter shambles and so not what the brand alleges to be about. Not safe.

    I lost my brother to a car accident when he fell asleep at the wheel. I've always been a cautious driver as a result, even 45 years later. Now, as a diabetic, I have to check my blood sugar before each trip to prevent the risk of a hypoglycemic coma from causing an accident. Knowing that the car can detect an issue, stop safely and call for help is a wonderful advance.

    My experience with Volvo is unfortunately not as advertised here. I configured a Volvo V60 in 2020, with blind spot warning. This was a key feature, as I had already come to love and appreciate it in my Audi A4. Then came the semiconductor crisis and this Volvo was no longer built. I had the choice not to take a Volvo V60, or to take one without blind spot warning. As I had already returned the A4 at that point and no other car was quickly available, I had to go for the Volvo without Blind Spot Assist. If I had ordered a V90, this key feature would have been available. So Volvo doesn't care as much about safe cars as they always claim.

    eu AMO o modo como a Volvo cars trata o consumidor. MUito antes - mas muito antes meeeesmo - de ser obrigatória a cadeirinha de proteção de bebês e crianças, por exemplo, a Volvo já tinha seu booster embutido em todos. Isto é CUIDADO, é respeito, é consideração com nós as mães. E fez toda a diferença do mundo em uma série enorme de acidentes que poderiam ter tirado a vida de milhares de crianças.

      the thing about wagons, everyone talks a big game about them but 0 people actually ever buy them... as a Volvo Salesman we get perhaps 1 per year who actually want to buy one new and the new ones we get sit forever. no one wants a wagon in the USA OR the euro market, an suv is just better for less.
