    We put our claw in a bucket between cows as well, except we have sanitizer in it to cover the inflations. One of the best things we have done to make milking more enjoyable is we moved our vacuum pump out of the parlor. We just have the vacuum hose and electric cord running through a hole in the parlor wall. Thanks for sharing!

    What kind of milking machine do you use? I am looking to buy one. I have always milk by hand but I’m finding it is getting harder and want an easier way

      I use a GEA bucket milker set up from my local dairy supplier! I recommend buying a quality one instead of a super cheap internet find.

    What type of feed do you feed in the winter ? Do you feed alfalfa and clover balage ? What are your thoughts on quality dry hay ? Best wishes with your dairy

      Quality dry hay and the grain they get! I’d love to be able to utilize some baleage but it doesn’t make sense for 3 cows, stuff would spoil before they got through it all, and my set up isn’t as conducive!
      Hay alone for forage is just fine for a cow in winter, plenty do it!

      @@themicro-dairyfarmer1104 Have you considered wrapping balage using a single or tube wrapper ? This can help preserve the bales. Alfalfa or Clover balage mixed with high sugar variety grass can really help milk production in grassfed diets. When that’s combined with the quality dry hay you may find you can reduce the grain further or eliminate it 👨‍🌾🚜👩🏻‍🌾🥛

    Question! I’m thinking of starting a micro dairy - currently have 5 mini jerseys, but in talks of purchasing an A2/A2 registered standard jersey herd. You mentioned it in the beginning of this video, but what kind of milk tank do you use for your milk sales?
    Also, do you live in a state where raw dairy is illegal? If so, how do you sale your dairy?

      Raw dairy is legal in my state of PA and my tank is a 30 gal. Milkplan

    How much milk do you average a milking and how many times a day do you milk?

    • @themicro-dairyfarmer1104
      @themicro-dairyfarmer1104  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Twice a day but interested in milking flexibility once the group is all past their lactation peaks since we are grass based!
      Right now averaging around 60 lbs per cow per day
