"The Changeling" is the best ghost story movie EVER! I just watched it again for about the 10th time last week because you can with this movie. It still makes my hair stand on end! Those whispers, "Joseph!" "Help!" "Help!" "Help!" And that old wheelchair, wow! It's just awesome.
Getting chased by a Wheelchair and seeing a ball you just threw into the river come bouncing down the stairs one step at a time, mannnnnnnnnn, makes "The Changeling" one of the best Ghost Stories in the past 40 years. 👻👻👻👻👻👻
Good on you for providing the list in the description box, including chapters, where the flicks are available, their prices and genuine enthusiasm. Subscribed.
@@AnaC143 I just finished watching it. Was beautifully-shot, well-acted and had a few really creepy scenes. Kainan's 100% correct about the emotion and drama in it - very well done. Psychological and spooky, I'd give it a 7/10. I really liked the end. P.S.: like most people here horror is my main preferred genre so when I rate horror movies they'll usually be higher than what imdb or whatever says.
Thank you so much for addressing the hate on Daddy's Head!! I really enjoyed the movie and got so annoyed with people picking it apart. It was a solid flick with a creepy creature and a dark story. Im glad someone else liked it as well.
I enjoyed that movie too. It freaked me out the way they did his body and head. It’s a decent movie 🍿 with different concept and that’s good enough for me !
Awesome!! It looked so good yet the little I've seen has been negative ....I'm gonna watch it tonight ...bet I'll love it ....I seem to love movies the mainstream hate 😂🤷🏼♀️
I thought it was OK. The title definitely sounds like a different flick. Maybe call it Father's Reflection, or something. None the less, that had nothing to do with my disappointment with it. I love slow burn horror, but I didn't find it rewarding. Not enough monster for a movie that hammers home it's a literal monster, and I thought the drama got repetitive. Beautifully shot and acted though.
While I enjoyed it, I think it had a lot more potential than the film gave itself. It was never explained how or why that happened to Dad, and that was such a a wasted opportunity. What was up with the dad's design for the wooden structure in the woods? So many unanswered questions that were shown to us then never addressed.
Thank you once again Kainan. I love the enthusiasm you put into making these videos, I'm thoroughly edu-tained by your videos. Love those trivia bits you put into each movie. May the horror be always highly highly recommended. ☠☠☠
Thanks for the great lists, Kainan. I've been so busy with hurricane duties I've missed a bunch of premiers, but it helps so much when I DO have time to relax! 🖤💋 Oh, and Daddy's Head was awesome, as were Caddo Lake (what a mind bender), Significant Other (another surprise!), and Malum (LOVED!). I saw the Changeling as a kid cause I'm old, but another great one. Gotta catch up with the rest!

15:55 The Changeling has been my favorite haunted house movie since the first time I have seen it. It is best of the genre, from the cast to the plot to the cinematography, it is just brilliantly done!
The Changeling really moved me with its spooky story and deep emotions. I loved how the film builds tension slowly, focusing on psychological horror rather than relying on jump scares. The themes of grief and loss resonated with me, making the supernatural elements feel even more powerful.
I was looking for something scary to watch before I went to work & came straight to the channel to see his picks. Thank You 🙏 so much easier than scrolling looking for a movie. Love ❤️ the vids
“Well ladies. I’ve got good news and bad news…The good news is your dates are here. The bad news is…their dead.” -Tom Atkins. Loved Night of the Creeps when I first saw it as a kid back in the 80s!
Awesome picks. The changeling is a classic 80's horror movie. I've watched it several times over the years. Yes! George C. Scott was awesome in his role.
Loved your review of 'Daddy's Head', which I really enjoyed. I think of it as a smart, creepy, unique, and meaningful horror flick, which wasn't all about blood splatter n gore. I actually like how it focused on loss, grief and the complexity of a stepmother's and stepson's relationship. Great job, dude!
Dude, as always, your channel delivers!! So glad you covered Significant Other. It is such a good movie. And Night of the Creeps is some fucking great memories!!! The good news is your dates are here........
Strange Darling was a nice surprise. Night of the Creeps is one of my favorite B movies. I even had the soundtrack at one point. It was too short to fill out a whole cassette so the entire soundtrack was on each side.
I absolutely LOVE Night of the Creeps! I've been searching for this too so I'm so happy you found it on Tubi. Thanks for sharing your horror recommendations. You are always spot on.
Hi Kainan! I follow you since a long time and you're definitely my favourite content creator on TH-cam, so I finally decided to leave a comment! I have seen Daddy's head yesterday and I was so impressed by the cinematography, the direction and the performance of the actors, but above all by the gritty tone of the movie. As Maika Monroe, I must say she is my favourite performer in horror since I saw It Follows. Well, thank you for putting The Changeling in this list because it is a forgotten gem. I so love that movie. Infested? Just one of the best of this year. Keep up the good job! Kudos from Italy
Great list! Will watch Daddy's Head next. Just saw "Die Alone" (2024) last night and the third act blew me away. Movie is a pretty standard post apocalyptic zombie type thriller up to that point but with a great payoff.
"Strange Darling" gave me the biggest surprise/s I've experienced in a theater in a long time! I almost didn't go, but I'm so glad I did. I was genuinely giddy while watching it! After a certain point I was actually talking to the screen in the theater! I wasn't loud or anything, but it's something I NEVER do!!! (and I wasn't the only one doing it either! lol) Awesome. The acting and the plotting and direction are all amazing imo.
This has some awesome recommendations like Caddo Lake and Significant Other which I don’t see getting mentioned often unfortunately. I added Daddy’s head and Deathwatch to my watchlist. Thank you so much. Awesome video
Loved Daddy's Head!!! No ridiculous made-up back story just a great movie you don't have to think about. Very well done. Thanks for your recommendation the other day about Beezel and Azreal. I enjoyed them both. The acting in Beezel left a lot to be desired but the tension was spot on. Azreal, I had to read an “explained” article to see I'd interpret red it right.. I need to find your video and comment on it because I saw most of the movies on that one. Thanks again!!!
Good vid with some terrific films. George C Scott was one of the greatest actors of all time and besides him I did see most of the films on here and your review is spot on. Especially when you espoused about people not giving some films a chance because they aren’t what they expected. Great job. By the way the woman in the Changeling is pronounced Van De Veer.
Just watched Strange Darling this week! Loved it! Probably one of my favorite hidden gems of the year! Adding everything else to the list now! Also you feeling ok? You're looking a bit pale bud!
My dad met George C. Scott during the filming of The Changeling, he had a Polaroid photo of them where they filmed the cemetery scene. The Mountainview Cemetery is the only cemetery in the city of Vancouver and runs 10 blocks between 31st & 41st Aves between Prince Edward St. and Fraser St. if anyone out there plans on filming a location video. They stack coffins 5 or 6 deep now, buried in shared plots and headstones, because the land is limited and stuck between residential neighbourhoods to the North, East and West and a high school to the South.
I was lucky enough to see a screening of Night of the Creeps along with Tom Atkins and Fred Dekker in 2011 in Pittsburgh. Tom is so cool and hilarious.
Death watch is amazing! A true hidden gem, a def must watch. I loved, loved Caddo Lake. What a great, twist ending. I'm putting Strange Darling on my list for tomorrow's day off viewing for sure. I love Gallner!! Side note, The Cleansing Hour (he's in it) is a solid horror. What else can I say about The Changeling that you didn't. I saw it as a kid and it haunted me for days. Happy Halloween to ya, man! Great job as always. Thank you.
Love the look KB, very creative with the face paint and the mask. I watched a movie that was recommended to me, not sure if youve seen it, The Caller (1987). It takes the setup of a woman alone in a big house in the woods and a man asking to use the phone because his car broke down and flips it on its head, you arent sure who to be scared of. The first 15 minutes is boring so just throw it on in the background but make sure you buckle in for the second half. Malcolm McDowell is great, the practical effects are great and the ending is bananas.
I love your videos and I we share similar tastes but couldn't not say anything about Malum. Last shift is superior in everything especially because of its low budget style that makes it more eerie, creepy and way better in special effects. Just my humble opinion ;)
Surprising films I’ve stumbled on this Halloween that no one talks about. 1. The Innoncents. An Absolutely amazing but sad film that’s on ‘Let the right one in’ level. It’s the best horror film I’ve seen in about 10 years. 2. Possessor. One of the best Sci/fi horror I’ve seen in a while. 3. Possession. I can’t believe I’ve never seen this classic. The acting is over the top and a bit cheesy but the story and gore effect is top notch. 4. The Brood. Another secret classic that doesn’t get enough talk. Killer mutant kids for the win. 5. Infested , yes it’s that good that I’ll repeat it from the video list. 6. The Circle, another sci-fi great. No gore, really no violence or action but the acting and premise keeps you interested all the way until the end. 7. Suspiria remake. I seriously don’t know what is wrong with people. Take the original out of your mind and the bad reviews. This is a well crafted horror masterpiece that makes me upset that I slept on it because it’s a remake. 8. When Evil Lurkes….. yes I know a lot of people actually do talk about this one but I was still Completely surprised by this and it’s not for the faint of heart. Very original story and original style violence. 9. Soft and Quiet… ok it’s more of a disturbing drama than horror, but brutal rascism is as horrific as you can get and I had no idea this film was going to be about that very topic. It’s deeply disturbing, so tread lightly. 10. The seasoning house. Holy shite why aren’t more people talking about this film. Yes it’s disturbing and disgusting but it’s done so well and it’s one of the rare films that successfully mixes drama with horror.
Yeah definitely all great movies! I’ve covered them all in a video on here at some point. Accept the Innocents. That movie lost me early on with the animal killing. That’s just one thing I struggle to watch
Hi Kainan! Great list as usual! Do you have and reviews on scary tv shows? Also the music that is in your intro is awesome,if that from you when you were in a band? Do you have a review on Salems Lot?
Yeah I talked about Salems lot on my video a few weeks ago. Another highly rec one. That is my old Guitar players music who was in the band with me. But it’s not from our music. Tv series just take up to much time. I did make a best tv series on Netflix a year or 2 ago but the views were low and it just takes so much time to watch entire series. I do recommend Edge of Sleep on Prime Video right now though
Kate Siegel is just fantastic!!! I have become a huge fan of hers and I said that on your last video when you mentioned VHS Beyond….she has become a favorite of mine and I think her and Michael Flanagan are so damn cute together!! Kyle Gallner has become one of my favorite actors as well in the last few years…he’s just so incredible and talented
I love Mike Flanagan. I think she is underrated as well. I binged most of Mike's shows on Netflix in like one week..lol. I certainly think more people should watch this. Great list!!
Another great list. Daddy's Head and Strange Darling were my most recent, and I keep thinking about them. Always a good sign. I'm almost positive I saw Night of the Creeps, but if I did, I don't remember it, like most of the eighties. I'l check it out.
Strange Darling is down to $6.49 now on Prime (I guess if your a member) Plan on seeing it this weekend. I was on the fence about "Daddy's Head" because someone said it was The Babadook without the popup book but obviously based on your review here its more than a knock-off. Deathwatch has been on my radar aa while too. So happy to see it listed too. Hush I adored when I first saw it. It's coming back to theaters too. Great list Kainan. Great face paint and mask too, your killing it
I loved Last Shift, I didn’t know they remade this and I just found it on Amazon streaming for free. But it may be free because of one of my subscriptions. And the Changeling was incredible for its age.
I have a great question, what is a guilty pleasure movie that you like that is not horror that would surprise fans of the Ghost Pirate 🏴☠️ channel? Edit: when I first discovered your channel, I was sort of critical, but I absolutely love it. You’re doing a great job.
Kainan, you’ve become my go-to source for horror and sci-fi, man. Thank you so much for putting these videos out on TH-cam.
MEE TOO LOVE @Ghost ❤
Agree he really does have the best horror review channel plus he likes the darker stuff that others shy away from.
Thank you guys! You make all the hard work worth it!!!
That part every time lol
Hope you’re doing well! Here’s some gas money to get away from Art the Clown.
Just kidding! You can never get away from Art the Clown.😂😂😂😂

This movie was just awesome, it's one of best trillers I've seen in years.
Kainan, you weren't the only one who thought Kate Siegel was deaf and mute after seeing "Hush." She's incredibly underrated as an actress.

I'm just joking he's one ov the best horror critics in the game

Kyle Gallner has become one of my favorite actors as well in the last few years…he’s just so incredible and talented
I love Mike Flanagan. I think she is underrated as well. I binged most of Mike's shows on Netflix in like one week..lol. I certainly think more people should watch this. Great list!!
Yeah I can’t wait for his projects on Prime Video hopefully next year and his Exorcist will be amazing too
Another great list.
Great face paint and mask too, your killing it
Night of the creeps it's a campy fun horror film and the essence of the 80's right there.
I would like to hug this man
1:14 Do you know about scare fest thing in lexington ky this weekend? Line was about 4 hrs long outside of rupp arena.
Yeah convention all over the country are getting huge.
Lexington here!
My favorite horror thriller of the year is Strange Darling followed by Terrifier 3 as a very close second.
One I would recommend is We are Zombies. A great fun zombie movie. It’s on Tubi by the way.
Deathwatch, interesting. Will deffo give that a watch. Some cracking movies on that list mate 🤙
I love Deathwatch. I'm glad you recommended it.
Forget about the rest of them, The Changeling all the way. One of the all time cult classic horror movies of all time.
I loved Last Shift, I didn’t know they remade this and I just found it on Amazon streaming for free. But it may be free because of one of my subscriptions. And the Changeling was incredible for its age.
Way to go recommending Daddy’s Head it was incredible
I have a great question, what is a guilty pleasure movie that you like that is not horror that would surprise fans of the Ghost Pirate 🏴☠️ channel?
Edit: when I first discovered your channel, I was sort of critical, but I absolutely love it. You’re doing a great job.
I don’t feel guilty for anything I enjoy. So I don’t know what that would be. I like all types of shit
CADDO Lake was so good! It was definitely a surprise!
You have such a great energy :-)
Really excellent list.
Significant Other is an awesome film, I went in blind and it surprised the hell out of me.
