A few days ago my wife got me my first fly rod, I want to thank you for all these videos, I have been binging a lot on them. I am a seasoned bass fisherman so learning something new is intimidating.
Great tips, I often fish riffles that most would not touch as they think the water was too shallow, and yet I find larger fish sitting in these waters enjoying the conveyor belt of food as well as the better oxygen levels. Thanks once again.
I've always liked to fish the fast/slow current breaks. It's like the trout can sit just inside the slower current and watch the Smorgasbord of bugs go by!!
I find the dry dropper great. I put the dry fly on a 5inch tag from the main leader so avoid tying onto the bend of the hook and have the dry float more naturally. But equally i have caught by also using bend on hook. Just not as many. Double surg knot a 6x tag
What advice to y’all have for pond and lake fishing with fly gear? I know usually speaking trout fishing doesn’t generally occur on ponds and lakes but I’ve been struggling to hook up on pier lakers and salmon.
Not exactly our specialty, but Orvis has a pretty good video about stillwater (lake & pond) fishing. Here is a link: th-cam.com/video/I993zgwqFlM/w-d-xo.html
I like to fish riffles from above (instead of standing at the bottom of the riffle like you are doing in the video) so I can retrieve my fly back through the riffle, is that wrong?
@@venturesflyco eh sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't lol now that I think about it, it might actually cause more snags this way. I gotta test it out against your way and see I guess lol

I'm loving this series!
If not already planned, an episode showing how to tackle deeper and faster rivers would be appreciated.
Will do! Thanks for the input.

I’m loving the visual examples to go with the narrating.

Probably the best riffle video I've seen Love how you back up your theories with actual fishing and you don't get too technical. I'm a fan.
I really appreciate your efforts to provide this content.
Happy to hear it. Thanks for the kind feedback! 😎👍🏽
Thanks ❤ more vedio and tips in river water ❤❤❤

Appreciate it. 😎🤙🏽
this video was outstanding.
Glad you enjoyed it!!
Thank you for this series. One ask, let us know what weight fly rod you are using for each application.

I love fishing riffles with a wooly bugger. Almost guaranteed a take every time.
I'll be trying this as soon as I get back on the water.
Let us know how it goes! 💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽
These are some great tips! Depending on the regulations of the water I'm fishing, I sometimes do a dry double dropper in deeper riffles
Good call! Another great rig to try. 🤙🏽
Do you do any reviews on the gear you use from the waders to the boots to the rods to the rods to the line?
The majority of the stuff we use is our own VFC gear. You can check it out here: venturesflyco.com
Good, informative video…
Glad you found it helpful!
Nice 😊 🤠🤙🤙💯💯👌👌🎣
Appreciate it! 😎🤙🏽
There in riffles, holes, eddyes, on grave l, behind rocks , sun bathing , in the shade , ….. they are everywhere in the river …😂😂😂😂

Honestly haven’t ever tried that, but if it works then we might have to give it a whirl!

"10 year old Spencer" lmao
Is it ripple or riffle?

bros just catching bate fish... "minnows" in them little ripples...
It aint the size of the dog in the fight, its the size of the fight in the dog! haha
This guy takes too long to say basic things we’re not here for a comedy show. I like the other guy a lot more
Everybody has their own style and preference. Appreciate the feedback!
Nah…I think you do a great job! Keeping it lighthearted and simple helps introduce beginners to Fly Fishing.
