You said you weren't going to use hose connectors.
You just used hose connectors to connect those two hoses.
I prefer using brass tubing.
I've had bad luck with plastic hose parts.

I hollowed out some bamboo and did this but didn't think of giving it heat treatment good idea but bamboo works temporary fast fix

you have to have a perfect grip on the metal clamp, over tighthing it will break the plastic hose inside.
