Please do show how you work in your sketchbook. I am a great fan of you and your art. As you know, I have taken every class you have offered. Also, I enjoy your podcasts with Richie❤
Hi Barbara! It is lovely to see you here and thank you for the amazing feedback. I have so many video ideas. I am excited to continue the TH-cam journey and feel like I am beginning to find my feet here. It's lovely to see familiar names in the comments!
Thank you! It's always fun to dig out an old sketchbook. Sometimes it surprises me what I appreciate after a break and what no longer floats my boat 😊🎨
I love seeing inside your sketchbooks and watching you create inside them. I'd sit and watch a long tour where you just flip through all your sketchbooks. Thanks for the beautiful video.
Fantastic, it's very freeing to go back in and re-work pages! I often love the pages I re-work even more than some that turn out well in the first instance. All part of the process! Very grateful for the opportunities that mixed media provides!
Thank you for sharing your sketchbook. It is lovely as always. I always look forward to your calm and genuine manner when you speak about your art or sketchbooks.
Thank you, I really appreciate the encouragement to show up on TH-cam as I am. Sometimes I worry that I am not loud or enthusiastic enough in personality for TH-cam. It is silly to think like that, I know! There are a lot of beautiful, calm videos on TH-cam. Room for us all 😊🎨 Glad you enjoyed the video!
You are very welcome, I love sharing sketchbook videos, so there will definitely be more over the coming months! It's great to get the feedback to keep sharing sketchbook related stuff!
Thank you, Laura, for sharing this. I would love to see more of your sketchbook creations. I find my sketchbooks very meditative and use them almost daily, even if it’s for only 5-10 minutes. They’re a nice break from reality.
Thank you for this inspiring video! The most helpful part of this video was to see the beauty you made from the pages at the end that you “did over”. I would love to see more of this part of your process and how it informs the rest of your work. I have a few of those pesky pages in all of my sketchbooks that make me cringe every time I look at them😂 Thanks again Laura your videos are such a blessing to me.
I'm glad that part was helpful! I feel like I have become a bit of a pro at dealing with the pesky pages 🤣 I will share more about that part of the process, sure comes in handy!
Yes, it’s fun to see the variety. My approach in my 7th decade of life ( turned 62) has been to fill sketchbooks. Your way keeps the pages interesting 💚the stich work & the book 🧵🪡🌺🐾🖌️
Love these sketchbook tours. Yes please, keep sharing all and any. So many great (organic) ideas + the reminders to not be so fussy and see what shows up are wonderful. As well as the freedom to go back, revisit, paint/collage over...Thank you for sharing. I am inspired!
I love working in a sketchbook and love your inspirations. It makes it easy to keep favourite art recipes in one place. It’s always my favourite way to enjoy afternoon tea flipping through your own art work. How proud!!! As always, love your work ❤❤❤
I feel like you could take this sketchbook and turn it into a mark making book by Laura Horn! I would definitely buy that book! Beautiful sketchbook! So inspiring’
Very inspiring. I thoroughly enjoyed this tour and your explanations. Definitely would like to see more. I find your use of acrylic inks very interesting. Thank you for sharing!
Thank you! I took your sketchbook sanctuary course and loved it so it was nice to see how you added to the pages. I would love to see more sketchbook spreads especially if you're adding stitching. Helen's book looks amazing it's in my amazon cart:)
Love the many ideas and artwork that evolved on each page. The colours and textures. So much beauty. Thank you for the flip through Laura 💖🌿 Please share the other sketch books
I absolutely love these sketchbook videos. Thank you so much for sharing. I think I remember you mentioning in your podcasts that you were going to do some more TH-cam videos and I just wanted to tell you that I thoroughly enjoy them ❤! Blessings from Iowa!
Thank you! Yes, Richie and I decided to focus more on TH-cam rather than short form vertical content like Reels and TikTok. We prefer longer videos, just suits us better. Let's me ramble on a bit!! Glad you are enjoying them. That's wonderful feedback for us. Much appreciated 💓
Thank you, it's lovely to get the feedback around what might be enjoyable to watch on TH-cam. And with a video like that, I can add a voiceover later if needed. It's nice to be able to just put the camera on and work away for a bit to see what comes through.
It's an interesting approach to try. Maybe not for everyone or all art styles, but for the way I work, I find it incredibly liberating! Thanks for watching
Yes please!!! Flick on the camera and share…..I’d love to see more of the ways you create such amazing transformation to what you referenced as “a bit of rubbish” 😂 I have more than a bit of rubbish, but now I’m totally inspired to get it out and play over top of some of it, stitch on it, cut it up, whatever!!! Absolutely loved today’s video! Thank you ❤
Haha, I think we all have more "rubbish" than we'd like! I will make some more makeover type videos, they are always fun! Glad you enjoyed the video, Sheila! Lovely to see you over here on TH-cam!
It's coming! I have been putting together a little collection to share. I am sooo excited for the video, as it includes some of my all-time favourite art books.
Thanks for the feedback, I have a good feeling about Sundays. Seems like a lovely day for catching up on art videos. I often tune in myself to videos on Sunday.
Yes 🙌 I love your sketchbooks and your reference books!! I’m trying to build a collection for inspiration ❤ thank you for sharing. Are you planning anymore courses? I love everyone I’ve taken of your course 😊
Thank you very much! I talk about my upcoming plans for courses on the most recent podcast! You can listen here: www.laurahornart.com/thepodcast/170 The short story is yes, I have some more mini courses in the works 😊
Great video! Loved it so much that I watched it again in case I missed something. Love different styles of mark making. I would love to see you re-work some old paintings. I like to keep a few of the older, uglier ones I've done just to remind myself of the progress I've made, but I don't need to look at all of them. 🤣😂 Thank you for this series of videos, and all that you do. ♥
Thank you, glad you enjoyed the video and even watched it twice! I have some paintings that I have put aside for makeovers on TH-cam so there will be videos along those lines in the future. Stay tuned x
Hi, sorry to hear that you are having difficulty with accessing Sketchbook Sanctuary. Please email laurahornart@gmail.com and I'll be able to look up your details to see what has happened and get you back in.
You are right, I haven't shared Willow in ages. I will make sure she has a guest appearance soon 🐶 She's looking more and more like a little dog now rather than a little pup!
I like how you create simple pages not losing the focus on the art. I get anxiety with journal pages that have too much 😂 losing the original art collage.
Oh, I relate to your comment because it happens to me too-probably more so with paintings on loose paper or canvas than sketchbook pages. I sometimes overwork things and lose all the lovely beginning energy. I find that with sketchbooks, I am less perfectionistic and often stop before I might otherwise and when I come back, I actually like the simpler look.
You can actually try to paint over that dried flower with acrylics, with a matching vibrant yellow, and then coat it with varnish to preserve it. If you feel it might harm the flower, you could try it on a seperate dry flower. At this point that flower is just dried texture base so adding light color strokes over it shouldn't harm it.
@@LauraHornArt Exactly! Hopefully this lovely little guy will get some color back! I'll be excited to see the results, if it goes well, and you end up documenting it ☺️
Thank you , very inspirational. I also recently bought Kate Rebecca Leach’s book called Creative Abstract Watercolour, and it too speaks of mark making and different ideas for making abstract art. Thanks again for your generosity in sharing your knowledge . Suzi 🙋🏼♀️🌻🇨🇦

I love the idea of adding things later on. I don't know how I'd break the mindset of "finished spread" by interrupting them. But great idea.

Thanks for the suggestion. I am not sure if much can be done to protect their colour. They still look lovely even with the muted tones!
