Don't waste your money on these cheap ass phones. Assurance wireless sent me this as a replacement and after 3 months I had to spend money to get another phone because this phone is CRAP!
My issue is horrible camera. And to watch videos you have to tilt towards top. Just being honest. The screen and cam are only issues I've had. Oh and calls going quiet for ten seconds at a time. And this is second phone same type so can't be two duds at once. Idk...

Received this from Assurance Wireless after switching over from SafeLink after having them for years. SafeLink's customer service became so deplorable I simply gave up...I could write a horror story. I'll pop back after using this for a couple weeks.
I went through the same exact thing. I had SafeLink for years, the customer service was unbelievable. I switched to Assurance, received this Schok Volt 55 because the old UMX SafeLink gave me was out of date to use 4G and 5G. I've had nothing but problems with the Schok Volt 55. The speaker blew after a few months and had to use headphones to make and receive calls. They were supposed to send me a replacement, they sent me an obsolete UMX which I sent back right away then promised I wouldn't receive another UMX, that they don't use them anymore because they know they're defective, still hadn't received my replacement from July, called today from a friend's phone 'cause now I have no outbound sound, can't make a call or anything else using outbound sound, asked what happened to my replacement phone, first Representative claimed I never sent back the outdated UMX they sent me which I did, called back, insisted I need to have a phone, it's still under warranty, let's see if they send me another UMX which I don't want. UMX have lasted me a few days to months, lucky if up to a year. My friend has a collection of defective UMXs they've sent her. I was on a complaint website earlier for Assurance and Schok Volt 55 reading all the complaints. Happy if anyone has no issues with their Schok Volt 55. I will say before the speaker went it made loud static or crackling and everyone said I sounded garbled and low as a heads up to anyone. I did check and reset everything countless times.
Safe link is run by strange people if you want to get in touch call at 9am when they open you still may have to wait awhile.if you have sent in appocation an it's been rejected tell them to delete old appocation.then send in papers that are only weeks old not 3 months.when requesting a new phone from assurance ask for koobee it's pretty good beat them at there on games. worked for me good luck

Have the same problem, have to use either speakerphone or my Plantronics M90 to make a full call, otherwise the incoming audio cuts out about every 20 seconds and I have to move the phone down enough for the screen to light up and then the audio comes back... they can still hear me uninterrupted. Mine is through Assurance, too. Anyone have a clue how old this phone is?

Not everyone needs a fancy phone that costs hundreds of dollars. I have a computer for all the "non-phone" stuff. It has a 40" screen and a real keyboard. ;)
Its pretty good, but it came oinda laggy. And it can NOT run roblox or any bigger games. And it takes a few seconds for things to run, but it kinda surprised me when it ran skullgirls. Its honestly pretty good for 30 bucks tho. If ur looking to get a very cheap and decent phone, then i highly suggest
Phone screen glairs weird when you tilt the phone sideways, it's hard to play games on that plastic screen. Type C usb sucks. I prefer the old style better

This phone is the worst! Calls drop and sometimes when I make a call, I can hear the person but they can't hear me. A call will drop in mid stream and then pick up again! I have had people hang up on me because they can't hear me! Not a good phone to have in case of an emergency!
There's two slots on the back of the phone when you remove the cover. You want to put in the sim card on the bottom slot with the numbers on the sim card facing you when you insert the sim card. Hope that helps.

For the same 29 bucks everytime their phone breaks down I can have a Xumo box, internet, and phone service. Spectrum told me I can get one of their phones for $5

When it is on I have great coverage for the internet., However I don't think it is dependable I want it for emergencies. It would be free of bills; you just needed to pay that deposit to have the best free phone they were offering. You only had 200$ to your name. They told you that the moto G power 2022 was a 400$ phone. Also if you got the upgraded free phone at the end of the year whatever new phone came up you would be able to upgrade to for free. Hehe what would you do? Let’s say you already got the shok. You didn’t pay anything for it and now you have a phone to make phone calls; you would like to spend the 95$ to fix your iPhone 7plus but it is acting up pretty bad. You also have to pay to get a brand new finger print scanning home button because yours came off and it’s not working. Here’s the kicker: you have over a decade of memories, information, on the iPhone but no back up; there is too much for the iCloud storage that you have. The phone also has other bugs. Would you stick with your iPhone 7plus; pay the 95$ to restore the mother board and mic; look to see if you can upgrade your iCloud storage; deal with the phone without a home button and use the assistive touch; Then if you can get all things backed up; look to try to get an exchange? Would you go back to the people that were giving the free phones to tell them you want to give back the schok to pay the 80$ to get the moto g power 22 just to have THAT phone be your emergency phone instead and also get free upgrades to the newer phones every year? Wait some time and also fix your iPhone 7plus? Or just stick with the schok as your other phone for free and fix the iPhone. This could, just be a tiny challenge. Because it could be worth it to pay 80 to get the free service in the moto G power and also be able to get the new phones every year; Maybe eventually you could just stop using the iPhone, save money and just use the free phone. If you see this interesting little challenging conundrum; get back.
Oh and you also already spent money to have a screen replacement for around 85$ and a battery replacement aswell on the iPhone 7plus; along with getting a new charging port entry.

Can't add memory. Moved from SafeLink to Assurance. You're better off buying your own phone from SafeLink than getting a "free" phone from Assurance. Takes horrible pictures.
This phone is garbage so far by Assurance wireless, now they no longer give a year but a 90 day warrantee they certainly are not worth the hassle. On the better business site they have over 1000 complaints for this phone. I any case now they charge $29.95 and claims FedEx is charging it taking up to 10 days for delivery, knowing and admittingly from a customer service rep they've had the same reported issues with the phone. The phone turning off and on automatically, battery over heating, and battery not charging around 3-6 months after receiving. Including just stop working. I think it's a complete scam as they are subsidized but the federal government. Why are they allowed to get away with it, since they're recent take over from T-Mobile. There's no way they are paying even probably five dollars for those phones.

I wouldn’t buy this phone if I’m using for more than 2 weeks . It’s super entry level very basic and breaks fast slow software aswell

Can't add memory. Moved from SafeLink to Assurance. You're better off buying your own phone from SafeLink than getting a "free" phone from Assurance. Takes horrible pictures.
This phone is garbage so far by Assurance wireless, now they no longer give a year but a 90 day warrantee they certainly are not worth the hassle. On the better business site they have over 1000 complaints for this phone. I any case now they charge $29.95 and claims FedEx is charging it taking up to 10 days for delivery, knowing and admittingly from a customer service rep they've had the same reported issues with the phone. The phone turning off and on automatically, battery over heating, and battery not charging around 3-6 months after receiving. Including just stop working. I think it's a complete scam as they are subsidized but the federal government. Why are they allowed to get away with it, since they're recent take over from T-Mobile. There's no way they are paying even probably five dollars for those phones.
