2018 Audi Q7 Drive Modes Explained! (Air Ride & All Wheel Steering)

- Overview of all the different drive select modes in the 2017 and newer Audi Q7. This Q7 is equipped with the Adaptive Chassis, therefore it also has settings for the Air Suspension & All Wheel Steering, which some other Q7s will be lacking. Enjoy!!!!

I drive a Q8 so the modes are similar,. One thing I will say is that the owners manual says you should briefly lift off the throttle, after you change modes when on the move. This is to allow the engine to have the selected mode activated.

awesome video :) is these settings available with the ambiente equipment on the Audi A4 aswell? :) i was wondering if you only had the option to pick 1 color for "all the light" in the car, however it seems like you have 2 colors to pick :D hopefully you can do it on all their new models.
Philip Rojahn thanks! The A4 will have different colors and separate zones of color only on the prestige trim level! The premium and premium plus will have all white ambient lighting. This is based on the trims for the American market !

Do any of the driving modes change the all-wheel-drive function to 2 wheel drive for better fuel consumption?
I have just the 2018 premium q7. What mode is suggested for towing? Also when plugging in lights it has issues even though all trailer light and vehicle lighting is working. Thanks

What if the Off Road is listed but not Lift option. Does that mean it has adaptive air suspension?

Too bad individual can't be used to lower the front and raise rear for high speed driving. That would be really neat.
Thank you for posting the video. I ordered my 2018 Q7 Prestige with air suspension and I'm expecting delivery in a few weeks. Can you please tell me what the ground clearances are in Dynamic mode and in Off Road? All of the research I've done leads me to believe that it's 6.7" for Level 2 to 9.7" for Level 5, but I've yet to confirm that. Thank you.
So glad you found it useful! From my research it seems these are the correct heights but out on the highway when in dynamic it seems to have the capability to lower an additional 1.2 inches for added aerodynamic 👍
How is the Q7 holding up now?

Does air suspension come standard on a specific trim or do you have to pay extra?
Jswerve Jordan 2017 - 2019 you need to get the prestige trim and you need to make sure it has the adaptive chassis package in order to get the air suspension. They did a special trim level for 2019 as well called the SE and the V6 SE premium plus comes with the air suspension standard. For the updated 2020 model you can now get the air suspension as a stand alone option on the premium plus and I believe it is now standard on prestige.

I have a 2017 Q7 with what Audi calls Air Suspension Sport. In Dynamic mode the ride height is at 1 bar. Perhaps this was changed for 2018?
JerryD386 We never got the sport air suspension in America we only got the “comfort” air suspension option. The dynamic mode does stiffen everything up and drops the car compared to auto but not nearly as much as the sport air suspension option would!
Car Tech Connect I’m in Canada. From what I can tell we got the sport Air suspension option here, at least in 2017. I’ll post a video of my car in action.
Yes you guys definitely did along with the sline package which also was never available in the USA.
Car Tech Connect I also happen to have an Sline. Did not realize it wasn’t avail in the US. That explains why my car performs differently

The American models do not have the efficiency mode while most other markets do!

That’s very high mileage. I just bought a 2017 with 34k miles. It was a personal lease vehicle. I’d definitely take it to a mechanic for a 120+ point inspection.
What was the (A)OFF button next to the drive select buttons.
I’m guessing the next one over (before the hazards) was the ‘traction control off’ button , but can’t work out what the (A) OFF is?

@jeffreycardwell4733, the only way to disable the engine auto start/stop is getting the OBDeleven device and plugging it into your card it will help you unlock many other features.

If I didn't live gets so much, I don't think I could've handled the "umm, uhh, umm" every other two words more than a couple minutes in. Some say it's actually a speech impediment.
