- How to: Connect and use IPhone IOS through the Audi MMI controls. This will be a similar setup on most of the 2017 & 2018 Audi lineup!!
NOTE: There are two USB ports in the center console & they will both work for apple carplay & charging

CarPlay does not work on Bluetooth at least with an iPhone with latest iOS, only USB. When you go to the settings/General/Carplay, there is no option for bluetooth or USB. In the video, it shows just plugging in the phone to USB and "poof" it works. I had one of my iPhone 7's work fine and the other would only work as a "music" player and phone. When you plugged it in to the USB port, no CarPlay would come up and nothing showed up in the settings on the iphone. You have to go into the settings on the Q7 for MMI and select the phone in question while it's plugged into the USB port. This enables the phone for CarPlay. I could not find this info anywhere in the manual or on Apple support. I just kept going into the menus and finally found one that worked. CarPlay is fantastic once you get it working.
Is there a way to keep the phone outside of the armrest w/o pinching the cable? I have a 2017 Q7 and the worst part is having to keep my phone inside the armrest for fear of damaging the cable.

What happen if you have Musi for Music on your phone will it be on that touch screen for the car play ?
car play keeps dropping or disconnecting ,does everyone have this issue ?
Approx 70k with tiny azz center monitor MMI and no phone holders. Then after the initial Audi connect expire you'd be charge $500 for 30 months. Audi should provide at least 36 months worth of service for their Audi connect.

TH-cam is not supported through carplay so there is no way to get that app on the screen. You can play the video on your phone though and it will play the sound through the cars speakers while carplay is active.

Does the 2018 Q7 prestige have wireless Carplay?
Unfortunately no, you will need a 2020 or newer and I believe you will also need the Premium Plus Trim.

The 2018 A6 manual required certified apple cable to connect the iPhone to the car's USB. But newer update apple car play is in development to use BT instead. Not sure the timeline, you might have to update your Audi's firmware. Check with your Audi service dept.

Buy a new BMW instead, it's the only brand that support wireless carplay right now.
Your check engine light is on, I went to look at a used Audi Q7 and it’s light was on too. They told it it’s normal. I’m not sure please help
His check engine light is not on. The car wasnt turned on, only the ignition was on so that's why the check engine was there

If I do not continue the 6 months trial of Audi Connect, do I lose the Apple carplay? The Audi Connect charge $499 for 30 months. Figure if the iPhone 7 have all similar functions already, why I need Audi Connect.
+Guan Guan Nope! Apple CarPlay usability is completely independent from the Audi Connect Services. It will continue to work!
