Hey mint, I have been using mint for a year and you guys have been great, you guys have been updating with features like wifi calling and also you guys increased the data limits. Your coverage was great but recently from more than two months I am facing a weird issue where when other people call me, it is not even registering a call and I searched online and got to know it's a wide spread issue. I am posting it here so you guys can be aware of this issue and solve this as early as possible. I want you guys to succeed and provide a great competition to the big carrier provider charging 4 times for the same service.

Cricket is owned by AT&T, Verizon owns Straight Talk, T-Mobile owns MetroPCS and Sprint owned Boost (legally still does) and the big carriers can control the coverage and speeds you get at their budget companies to force you to want to be with a premium service like themselves. That's actually what happened to me and my family. My parents who use their phones for work need the more expensive plans. They own a small business so a business plan would be overkill and cost too much so they went with a family plan. My brother (33) and I (23) are still in the plan due to fact that once we leave they'll be charge ridiculous amount of fees. We of course re-emburst our folks and even buy them nicer phones than what they would pick. However, it's insane how expensive At&t can get if you don't have a grandfather plan.

I tried Mint about three years ago when I heard it mentioned on the Clark Howard show. I ONLY had service when I was really near an interstate or very spotty any where else. The coverage maps are total BS!. I had to drive three miles from my house to a very specific, very small area that had coverage if I needed to make a call. The customer service was non existent. There for a while I feared not being able to port my number away from them (the number I had for fifteen or so years). As I remember, I had to operate off of a new phone number from straight talk for about 60 days before I could get my old phone number back from Mint.
I, too, prepaid for a chunk of service. I knew within a couple of days it was totally useless to me. Since there was NO WAY to talk to any one and they never returned emails (except for auto responders) I had to go through my bank to charge back the service. It took several months but my bank finally reversed the charges and credited my account.
Try mint Mobile at your own peril.

I was in a similar situation where I was just piggy-backing off my parents plan.
Then I started doing some research into it, and found a 25$/month pre-paid plan with ATT that I really liked. It's only for 8 gigs of data a month, but I reckon I only use about 2-4 gigs every month on average. I never watch media on my phone, but I listen to Spotify while biking. So I need 'some' data.
And ironically, the first month just for shits and giggles I pushed it over the cap to where they purposely slow it down, and it still streamed Spotify without any lag or hiccups. So basically, it's unlimited data for me. ;)

The overages cost $10 per 1GB.

FYI - Mint Mobile only uses the GSM network on T-Mobile and AT&T. If you're phone doesn't support GSM or AT&T network, you won't be able to use it on Mint Mobile. Google Fi however, does support both GSM and CDMA networks so it offers a better coverage. Also, iPhones are supported on Google Fi and pricing starts at $20 for unlimited text and calls, and data is charged literally $1 per MB of data used. For two lines, you pay $20 for first person, $15 for each additional and data is charged at $1 per MB used. I'm not a fan of paying for data plans where I'm not using all the data I'm paying for, but there is also an unlimited plan on Google Fi. fi.google.com/about/
I switched from Verizon to Google Fi a few months ago, and I couldn't be happier with the service. I actually have better coverage in some spots than I did on Verizon because Google Fi is using T-Mobile's towers, Sprint's Towers (now belongs to T-Mobile) and US Cellular towers. For those who have a supported Android device, Google Fi does support RCS on Google Messages and also supports iMessage on iPhones.

Mint Mobile is one of the best carriers, especially on a budget. I do also agree with the annual installment. That is Mint's model, buying in bulk is cheaper and no matter what happens Mint already paid for their service in advance, if you switch carrier through the middle of the annual plan "oh well, thanks for the extra cash, we still give you service if you feel like using it, if not better for us".
Mint is overall nice. so for anyone with a good t-mobile coverage can hop on mint and be fine.

As a Mint mobile user for about 8 months I'm pretty happy about it. The coverage for the area I'm in is great and I like the updated app. I opted to use it for the(3 Gig) 3 month plan first to see how I would like it first and then I went for the (8 Gig) 6 month plan and then I just recently stepped it up to 12 months which gives the best savings. Now if you have internet at home I think 8 gigs is more than enough. I'm not always out and about a whole lot being on my phone unless I'm waiting for someone to drop off and I want to watch some TH-cam videos then it'll eat up some but you should still be good on data. But if you don't have internet then prepaid plans that don't have unlimited data isn't a good choice. Be nice if Mint does do a so called unlimited data plan which technically it isn't. But basically if your a home body a 3 gig plan you can get by as well. I had metro pcs and used 3 gig plan and only went over 3 gigs maybe twice.

Kinda similar story except in the UK. Was on EE (one of the biggest carriers here, used to be T-Mobile and Orange) since I started using smartphones. Was a very cheap plan £1/week plan that gave me very little data (around 500mb data because of their boost programme). Decided to switch to VOXI (a MVNO by Vodafone) and it's great. So much cheaper than going on Vodafone itself and definitely less than EE. They have offers a lot but rn I have 12gb data, unlimited social app data, calls, texts for £10/mo. Used to be 6gb but they always have "limited" deals for 8gb. You can even pay for unlimited data on video or music apps. It's great. MVNOs rise up!

They are currently offer omg double data on plans such as $40 3GB plan offering 6GB and their $50 8GB plan offering 16GB. Their prepaid unlimited plan costs $70. There is wording that makes it clear that temporary reduced speeds may occur during congestion. I have never experienced slow speeds on their Prepaid MIFI devices so I can only assume they are careful how they slow speeds.
