This video actually makes a really good 10 year anniversary video for this channel. If I recall correctly, you started this channel in 2014, at least according to the oldest public video available on this channel. So it was really interesting to acknowledge just how much you have changed over the past decade.
Honestly, the reason I keep coming back to this channel is because of your opinion and your vocalization of it. If you were just buying and reviewing tech like the 10,000+ others out there, I certainly wouldn't still be around. You be you Drew.

Also, I agree that Drew’s example of the Mac mini is a poor one - while there is no need to review the newest MacBook or iPhone, the new Mac mini is a leap forward and I certainly would have liked to get Drew’s hands on take on it. You're doing great, Drew. I love Apple products and have since I was a teenager, but I have only owned a handful of Apple products since my mid-twenties. I personally don't need you to buy everything they release to talk about them. In general, their products are mostly just great and homogenous, and they either work for your needs or not. Right now their phones work for my needs but their computers don't; I currently don't have any Macs because my primary software is Windows-only and despite Parallels being great on Apple Silicon, running everything directly on a good Windows machine just gets work done with less hoop-jumping than when I had an M1. I have also found that I don't need tons of computers for every specific task. I come for your commentary, comedy, and outlook on these products that we love but that also frustrate us. Keep doing what you're doing while it keeps making sense/cents for you. We appreciate you.
I think your absolutely correct. I have changed also with regard to the tech or Apple tech. I still like it but have noticed Apple seems to be progressing too slowly to keep my interest up.
10/10 video, love looking back on life like this! Congrats over the last 10 years, amazing how much fun we've all had here together thus far. Remember the Minecraft server you had? I still remember the Apple Store build in it 😁
Talk about the old days... back in the 90s... if you brought a new computer, six months later there would be a new one with twice the capacity. This cycle lasted for years. imagine your brand new 8mb of ram, 250 mb of hd and then 6 months later you could get 16 mb of ram!
I don't know what more innovation people want out of their smartphones or technology in general. People ask "Has Apple become boring." When in reality, it should be "Do we really need any more?"
This channel has been one of my fav channels I’ve ever watched and I’ve been watching for years now and will continue to watch and support 👍🏼 You do you drew your content is always gonna be great! Happy Thanksgiving 🦃
Happy Thanksgiving Drew!! Long time viewer here. You haven't changed. Apple has changed. The silicon has changed. The world has changed. I became EVEN MORE interested in your channel back in 2022/2023 when you were using/reviewing/daily driving older iPhones. At that time (and even now), many people were feeling financially unstable. You popularized the idea of holding onto devices for longer. During the chip shortage, we all learned to make do with what we have. But when that shortage ended, people went back to "disposable tech". At the same time, companies like Framework arose in response to Apple's locked down ecosystem. Now, I watch your channel because you still review the new stuff, but stick with the old. So do I, thanks in part to you. This is the longest I've ever kept a MacBook (M1 Pro 16" MacBook Pro), even extended the apple care so that I can replace the battery when it dips below 80%. The fact that you and your wife are experiencing tech changes in real time (along with the rest of us) but still managing to grow/expand despite economic concerns, you set a great example.
Both have changed in many ways and so have the viewers. As a tech enthusiast I must say I’ve grown kinda tired of the rumors-launch-reviews cycle year after year. We already know what to expect even if we don’t watch tech TH-camrs: minor aesthetic changes and improvements… it’s gotten boring.
You know, you really opened my eyes to the reality and seeing through the hype. Especially in the value you can get by buying used even in one year. I actually really appreciate that perspective and it has been helpful. I’m pretty sure you’ve actually saved me many thousands of dollars by just sticking with my iPhone 12 because like you, I’m not seeing the massive massive difference. Normally, I would have pre-ordered every phone between the 12 and now. But I am happy with what I have still.
I think it’s because once you have all of your needs covered, the minor updates year after year are less appealing. I’ve recently been able to go from just using an iPhone, to also owning a mac, apple watch, airpods- pretty much the whole eco system I own now, plus a good pc with an i9 13900kf and 4080ti. My enthusiasm for new apple announcements has substantially diminished because as you said, they don’t do me any different.
I was an Apple fan for the past 22 years since I bought my first G4 tower back in 2022. It was a positive first Apple experience so I was a dedicated fan for years but they finally priced me out of the market and I noticed there’s seemingly no rhyme or reason to their releases. They’ll release a couple of generations of the Mac Studio Ultra (M1; M2) then skip it altogether on the M3 release and possibly on the M4 as well…then they suddenly drop a bunch of M4 iPad Pros. Their releases seem arbitrary at times, like they just suddenly realized they forgot to release an update of something for a few generations and then suddenly decide to throw one out just to justify keeping it around (like the Mac Pro).
I enjoyed THIS video...without reservations! It's SO human, and humans get my attention. Pretty Macs (I have a few...) are all well and good, put it's the people who interact with and use the things that are important. Your skits and your insights and reflections on tech keep me coming back for more. Happy Thanksgiving and much aloha to you and your family!
Wow. Refreshingly honest content. Love it. I have a suggestion. I would love to see a channel comparing iOS vs android. I know many r over it, however, it’s never been done to a granular level, the nuances. Comparing all the features with native apps like calendar, notes, etc. many complain about these videos but they create the most comments n potential channel growth. I think u would be great at it. Also, im sure u know, ur tech channel expenses could be written off at 60%. U could then sell ur unwanted tech. Peace.
I’ve actually grown more fond of your coverage as you’ve evolved. I think I hit that mindset a few years before you so I remember feeling a bit outside of where you were at earlier in your TH-cam career-I was much less Apple optimistic even though I use almost all Apple products than you seemed to be. But, needless to say, you’re one of my favorite tech commentators now. I appreciate the honesty and the willingness to change your perspective and stay true to yourself.
I’ve worked for for over 10 years. It has changed so much in that time. has really taken there eyes of the ball. It’s a hideous place to work at the moment.
More seriously, I hope you know the reason we watch is because you are the same tech and car nerd we all are and while we may not have the time, energy, motivation, or whatever it be, we like hearing what you have to say about these products because if we had our hands on them we’d probably feel the same way you do. What we like to watch is YOU for that reason, so make what content you love and feel is best and the people who understand will keep coming back. Keep it up Drew
Drew, I appreciate this video. I’ve been following you here on TH-cam for a few years, and I agree: tech has matured and not everything is as exciting to review - specially when there is so many reviews already out there and the cost of it keeps growing more and more. But I do love your views on it, predictions, and rumors. It is definitely what makes the channel unique and that’s what I’m here for
I feel I have changed the same and you definitely had input. I used to feel I had to have the latest product every year, but now I’m happy with what I have
Regarding what you said at the end about reviewing older phones, I honestly think that that would be a great thing for you to do. Take out like the iPhone XR as an example, update it to iOS 18.1.1, and do a day, or even a week, in the life with it.
I didn't realize how much you changed since I started watching you in 2016. I got inspired by you to build my own Apple ecosystem. Now, I am not so much excited in releases, and also Apple has become more lazy in a lot of ways (AirPods Max cough cough). I also didn't realize how much I changed until now. I just couldn't justify a new Macbook Pro because my M1 Max that I got cheap second hand is doing really good. I recently upgraded from a 15 Pro to 15 Pro Max and i am planning on keeping it for min 2-3 years, hopefully more than that. I am excited for Apple Intelligence because that is something I will be able to experience for free with my own devices. Only thing i am missing is an Apple Watch, but i just cannot justify myself to spend that much money for it. I owned one before and while it was good, I can do without it. Maybe if it gets a better Siri. Anyways, thanks for this sincere video! I really should be watching your videos from now on. Keep up the good work!
Sure. But he has a self-sustaining channel & I think he's just pointing out that it's a wasted effort on behalf of the user. Surely if he wanted to be good maximize that kind of enragement bait or something but I get the impression that's not the kind of channel he wants. He could also take advertisements and he never does which I find fascinating so many channels -- some of them much larger than his channel albeit with more overhead -- would have you believe they could never sustain without them.
Really enjoy the channel, luke miani caught my attention by reviewing older budget apple products perhaps that's a option for you, there is a huge percentage of the population who cannot afford the latest apple tech new but buy it used, personally I will only buy apple at 25% original price, I think this trend will only increase as time passes and people realise that there are little difference between one apple product and the next iteration
Good video! A movie called 28 Years Later I believe was shot on the iPhone 15 Pro Max. 75 million budget movie using an iPhone to film it. What I find interesting about tech is what we do with it.
BLESS Y❤️U & THANK Y❤️U DREW. This video will perhaps be the most important video on your channel as it provers your fans a ‘new way’ of thinking and making decisions in their lives. I’d say it’s the best video yet I’ve seen so far on ‘Tech’ in this TH-cam platform. You have sparked in us all a different way of thinking - LONG TERM AS OPPOSED TO SHORT TERM 👍🏼😊👍🏼
Really good video. Enjoyed your thoughts. To me alot of tech reviewers made huge gains during covid. To my eye they have become very monochromatic. I enjoy how you talk about tech vs look at the new shiny. I am rocking an m1 max mbp 16”. No need to upgade. It works so well. Also why would you buy a mini when thembp plugs into my ASD? Nope. Really enjoy your takes and that is really it. Continued successes. Appreciate your honesty. Peace.
Apple has changed. I used to look forward every year to the new iPhone. Since the introduction of the “island” or whatever you want to call it, my enthusiasm has dropped. More and more is an incremental increase with a promise of functionality “coming soon”. There is so much on an iPhone these days I will never use, have no use for, but have to have it turned on and accommodate for it. 😕. These days other mobile devices are drawing my enthusiasm. Not the iPhone.
Thanks for the honesty, and as a fellow Apple sheep, I have thought the same, and you vocalise it. Apple has changed massively. The latest products made me stop and go, huh, this is so un-Apple, and be disappointed in ways contrary to my understanding of the Apple brand. The fact that Design is under operation now signalled the many that happened this year.
10:00 This. I never buy the iPhone Pro for this exact reason. For the things I do, I simply can't justify the purchase. Do I want it? Yes, but as you become older and have people rely on you, you just become more cautios on your expenses.
Been subscribed since 2016! Thanks Drew for making this video, I think it was long overdue and we appreciate you clearing up your ‘status’ as a creator rn I’m still gonna stay subscribed and I’m interested to see where Apple is headed in the next couple of years
Agreed! He’s helped me to realize we don’t need an upgrade all the time. It’s cool to use devices for as many years as you can. Especially now a days where the upgrades are so minimal. Thank you Drew!
I really like this type of video you made. It's amazing that you brought this up, because I was thinking the same thing. I think Apple has changed in my opinion. if I could go back in, choose not to buy most of the products, that they sell I would be more of a minimalist on what I bought. I really just use my iPad Mac and my phone. The reason I have my iPad is because I like to create music. The reason I have my Mac, is there are some features that macOS has that iPad don't have. I have my iphone because a lot of my apps are paid, also I can't transfer them or find an equivalent of them for on an android phone. And since money is pretty tight right now for me, at least it would be fun to see what it was like, to actually step outside of my ecosystem for a couple of weeks, just see what it was like, even though its not really an option right now for me, right now. 👍🏾
Change is inevitable which means evolution is too, so just go with the flow. As for the Mac Mini, go ahead and buy one. You admit that you are thinking long term and with potential tariffs and price rises looming it makes sense as an investment. Story wise, comparing the info on the SE4 to the iPhone Air. The idea that the most and least expensive models could have the same modems and cameras? Can’t wait to see Apple doing backflips to explain that.
I do think it’s important to bring up the point of not needed to upgrade every year. I’m glad you’ve been saying that because it definitely helps with the temptation of wanting to buy the next new thing
I completely agree. I mean I was a smartphone user since the mid 2000s and every year was exciting and there were significant hardware and software changes every year. Now in the 2020s the technology has matured and there’s just not the same kind of excitement as there was back then.
I think there is plenty to be excited about… I love this last release of iPad Pro (M4), and the existence of Vision Pro, the new Mac mini is awesome… it’s a great era for Apple tech.
Apple absolutely has changed for the worse over the last two years it’s not just you drew. It’s something Sam kohl has pointed out, that apple is very much a fractured company internally and there is clearly a lack of transparency and coordination between all the departments
been watching for a long time and yes the past drew was entertaining, but current drew and future drew is much more unique in the tech segment in youtube. i definitely enjoy your personality shining through in the current format of tailosive tech. keep it up🥳
Well Drew this is an interesting video because you USED to talk about how “year over year” upgrades are getting smaller over time, but now suddenly it’s like you have a distain about this. Upgrades from across the market will get smaller, it’s not exclusive to Apple. The fact is that if you don’t like Apple anymore then just come out with it, I don’t think anyone will mind if you do but making snarky replies to rumors about iPhone upgrades seems just negative.
I have been following you for many years. In the early years I was like, this guy is so mature for his age... and now you are on a whole other level. You are both objective and funny, and very reasonable. I buy many Apple products but I can't stand the real sheeps, those who despise anything that is not Apple, I stopped following them, some fortunately stopped making videos after being hired by some competitor brand... Anyway I hope to be following you for many, many years to come
Great video For me (most) computer tech has moved from revolution to evolution. You’re actually one of the channels I keep subscribed to. I subscribed to many during the covid period but this year have unsubscribed to many of them as I don’t find the content interesting anymore.
Hey Drew. A little advice please. It is the Black Friday. I was about to get a refurbished MacBook Pro M1 16GB 512SSD at less then 1000$ and the basic Mac mini M4. But I saw a MacBook Pro M4 pro chip with 24GB RAM and 512 SSD at 1800$. I don’t know if it the MacBook M4 is sufficient. Having a Mac mini and a refurbished M1 is not too much ?
I know I’m not Drew, but if I’m understanding you correctly, the MacBook Pro with the M4 Pro chip (with more memory, at that) seems like a way better value. Not sure if you’d still need two machines, but that’s what I would start with if it were me.
Genuinely haven’t felt any excitement about tech products lately. Dunk on Apple/ Samsung or whoever you want, but all of the tech space has plateaued over the past decade
Used to be excited for new iPhone launches until the 14 series, but then gradually it started fading away. It started happening 2-3 years prior itself.
I have always been an Apple guy since the 3Gs. The last iPhone I had was the XS, and I jumped to the Galaxy Note. I have been using the Samsung Galaxy ecosystem since then and am very happy. I won't say that Samsung is so much more innovative, but as far as software features, Android, Samsung specifically, is way ahead in functionality and usefulness, for me.
When the first iPad came out, that was a really big deal. It was a completely new product category etc. That was exciting. Going from the iPad Air 5 to the iPad Air 6, you are just replacing a comically over-powered M1 chip with an even more comically over-powered M2 chip; and other than in the numbers on Geekbench test scores, you aren't going to be able to tell the difference. I went from the Air 4 to the Air 6 purely because I could get a 13" screen without paying Pro prices for it. I really can't tell the difference in speed between the A14 and the M2. As I've said for a while now, tech is getting to be like washing machines. I'm sure if I went over to washing machine TH-cam, I would learn about all the new features in the latest washing machines, but I really don't care. I bought my last one because my previous one broke. Same for the one before that. And the one before that I bought because I moved out of my parents' house and needed to have my own.
Especially for full time TH-cam creators, the alignment with the own community interests for good view counts are often stressful and sometimes even limiting. In a world where most mediums are already optimized for optimal wide spread adoptability, I personally appreciate when creators can dive into more niche topics, which wouldn't interest a lagre target demographic, but are nonetheless fascinating on their own. I just still really like your channel!
Drew if you want some advice from someone who’s watched you since 2018, I’d ramp it up with the skits a little bit. Do some costumes, one liners, more recurring characters, camera angles and different shots etc. I think it would really elevate it
I agree. Apple and tech as a whole has changed - even Samsung and Google too. And we do change and evolve as people as we grow, but you’ve always been honest and upfront about Apple (and we love you for it)! I still think Apple is the same company at its core, it’s just that the smartphone as a technology has matured and plateaued and we’re seeing this among all smartphone brands. Apple just gets more flack for it lol
Also, people tend to be less easily excited as they get older, I'm already starting to notice it in myself.
I think real life tends to crush a lot of people and it kinda sucks to get older in current society so people get bogged down in life and responsibilities, are probably kind of depressed but don't really realize/understand what's happening.

But I do wish having 15 pro or 16 pro for Apple log, better video.
Ever??
Agreed. The skits really are the highlight of each video for me. Please keep those going!
Talk about the old days... back in the 90s... if you brought a new computer, six months later there would be a new one with twice the capacity. This cycle lasted for years. imagine your brand new 8mb of ram, 250 mb of hd and then 6 months later you could get 16 mb of ram!
Yes or for that matter even if you didn't need more round the ones with eight megabytes of RAM were $0.50 on the dollar.
I don't know what more innovation people want out of their smartphones or technology in general.
People ask "Has Apple become boring."
When in reality, it should be "Do we really need any more?"
Appreciate the candor, Drew. I’ve found myself going this route as well. Most offerings are just not “wow”ing like they used to.
Nothing is 🆕 under the sun ☀️
Thanks Drew, for your honesty. Always appreciated.
Been following you for years. Your channel is great!
Yes, same thoughts!
What makes you keep working for apple?
More seriously, I hope you know the reason we watch is because you are the same tech and car nerd we all are and while we may not have the time, energy, motivation, or whatever it be, we like hearing what you have to say about these products because if we had our hands on them we’d probably feel the same way you do. What we like to watch is YOU for that reason, so make what content you love and feel is best and the people who understand will keep coming back. Keep it up Drew
Thank you for being being so open and honest. It’s refreshing to have that!
Great video! Really appreciate your honesty. And...I think you talked me out of getting the Mac Mini lol...
It's better for you if people watch the video and complain about it in the comments, the algorithm likes it better than if they don't click on it.
Appreciating the honesty of your videos. Yeah I agree with your general view, apple changed as you did (and it’s not a bad thing per se)
The points around 5 min etc are so relatable. Justifying purchases for studying or working when younger
Yeah. Too many review videos and not as many “look what I just did with the new iPhone 16 pro” videos.
Talk about jet black air tags
Drew’s coping on the Mac mini. He wants it
10:00 This. I never buy the iPhone Pro for this exact reason. For the things I do, I simply can't justify the purchase. Do I want it? Yes, but as you become older and have people rely on you, you just become more cautios on your expenses.
Been subscribed since 2016! Thanks Drew for making this video, I think it was long overdue and we appreciate you clearing up your ‘status’ as a creator rn
I’m still gonna stay subscribed and I’m interested to see where Apple is headed in the next couple of years
Totally agree I like the practical Drew 😊
100% agree with this video 👍🏾. Can relate to getting older and realizing higher priorities and lifestyle.
Great video, I feel the same change in myself too, I have a 13 pro Max and I have no urge to buy a new phone. And I also Hate the new photos app.
I think there is plenty to be excited about… I love this last release of iPad Pro (M4), and the existence of Vision Pro, the new Mac mini is awesome… it’s a great era for Apple tech.
Apple absolutely has changed for the worse over the last two years it’s not just you drew. It’s something Sam kohl has pointed out, that apple is very much a fractured company internally and there is clearly a lack of transparency and coordination between all the departments
been watching for a long time and yes the past drew was entertaining, but current drew and future drew is much more unique in the tech segment in youtube. i definitely enjoy your personality shining through in the current format of tailosive tech. keep it up🥳
Atleast you have perspective and we respect that and enjoy your opinion
Well Drew this is an interesting video because you USED to talk about how “year over year” upgrades are getting smaller over time, but now suddenly it’s like you have a distain about this.
Upgrades from across the market will get smaller, it’s not exclusive to Apple. The fact is that if you don’t like Apple anymore then just come out with it, I don’t think anyone will mind if you do but making snarky replies to rumors about iPhone upgrades seems just negative.
Good Video. Definitely understand
Most realistic tech video, love it. Keep keepin it real fam
Anyway I hope to be following you for many, many years to come
I'm your fan since the iPhone 7 (leaks) days, and I must say, we've all grown and changed with you
Great video
For me (most) computer tech has moved from revolution to evolution.
@ thank you. 🙏 I think it is better to start with the M4 pro also.
Great video we need more like this
Really enjoyed this video. Life priorities certainly have tweaked most of us and the - do I buy this new product filter.
Everyone seems to hate on the new photos app, but I genuinely think it is significantly better having everything on one screen.
I just still really like your channel!
influencer and audience grows old and mature together.
We always find new excitement throughout our life.
Drew, this video is all the evidence anyone needs to see that you are simply the best
Love this character evalution ❤
The idea that you would not changed over time is ridiculous. All people change as they go through life.
