This interview answered so many questions about George that I had no idea about! I'll never listen to his songs the same. What a legend. Hope George gets the GRAMMY for Best Audiobook! Much deserved
This is my man right here, he really had an army of musicians that rocked the world. That's why he didn't have a problem with samples, he had been sampling in his mind already, Faaame.lol Awesome interview.
Uncle George Clinton gave us ALL hope when we were very young. Inspired people to reach out and see what they could find.... And almost anything could work! A complete Genius with unbelievable Longevity!! We love you Dr. Funkenstein!!
I had heard some of the story on the “Creation of Flash Light” and that it was George’s interpretation of an Jewish melody but this makes it even MORE special! That melody was in his head ALL those years and BOOM! it fits here!
Incredible! Sometimes seeing behind the wizard's curtain spoils things, not here. Knowing these things about these iconic tracks makes them even more phenomenal. Longtime fan of George's genius! Great interview!
I am a 63 year-old, lifelong fan of George Clinton and Parliament/Funkadelic. I'm "Standing on The Verge of Retirement" 🫠 I would LOVE the opportunity to rehearse my bass vocals to George! Only on the level of Louie "Babblin' Kabbabie or "what's his name" who did James Brown's "Big Payback" live in the 90's. I think I'm pretty good at the intro to "Give Up the Funk " , and bass vocals on "Into You " ...
Ha. I'm a musician, but a notary also. A lady that knows I am a musician that I have worked with for years gave me a notary job to do and didn't tell me what I was walking into. I finally found the address on Pico Blvd in LA. When I went in I found myself in the middle of a Gorge Clinton session. George was not there but there was a small group of people, (Band members, I presume), and the engineer and his assistant were working on tracks. My client and I went in a small room off the main studio and as I did his new home loan papers track after track came up. After an hour. I was completely impressed to see that George had traversed into a modernzed version of his music. The young man was a writer and had written some of the material they were playing. I believe it was the same studio he is in on this interview. I thanked my Escrow officer for the thoughtful surprise.
just an amazing man, his outlook, his intellect and his street smarts , and he is still funny , insightful and having fun . Cant measure how much influence he has had
Really nice interview . It’s tough to not see a interview where immediately they talk about the usual in P-Funk You did a fantastic job in bridging the different areas & making this a great primer for new people & veterans to enjoy. That’s a tough balance with a 50 plus (almost 60!) year history 😎👍
@ and you got new info out of flashlight ! the two insights of bernie being inspired by larry graham & the jewish melody. Never bears that and i’ve listened to a ton of GC interviews and read articles. Plus that Bowie tidbit, i think this opens the door for a danny bedrosian podcast with you talking about being the music director for P-Funk 😎
It tickles me to see George Clinton and Debbie Harry as old people, I loved them so much as a kid. Ain’t it crazy that MJ, Prince and Whitney are all dead and Billy Idol is still alive, the world ain’t fair man…
Would LOVE to hear George build for hours on the Multiverse, the Anunnaki, quantum computing….May his Mothership get caught in traffic and keep him here for MANY more revolutions around the sun 🛸
George did a lot of his band members really, really wrong and he was blessed with having some of the best musicians on the planet, especially Bernie Worrell and Bootsy but many of the others too.
What he says at 31:27 is so true because Billy “Bass” Nelson played bass on “Shakey Ground” by the Temptations back in ‘75. It wouldn’t surprise me if all of Funkadelic didn’t play on that track.
it's so sad, George Clinton went to court to get back his Rights to the Music he wrote and was denied. All the music he wrote from between 1976 and 1983, which would include his contributions to the Funkadelic classics One Nation Under a Groove (1978) and Uncle Jam Wants You (1979) as well as the solo effort Computer Games (1982), which spawned "Atomic Dog." is owned by a company called Bridgeport Music the same company was one of the defendants in the recent “Blurred Lines” case with Pharrell and Robin Thicke. His music is second on the list of most-sampled artists in music history, with more than 400 times to date, it is estimated that it's worth 100 million in Royalties and George get zero *note he was heavily into Crack Cocaine back then, that's probably why he signed away all his rights .....very sad

When it comes to that$$$$all them stars get funny, from Larry Graham to James brown it's the business either you're a electrician or you in the crude music business, to my understanding Prince didn't pay well.
It's funny he forgot about the creator of the Funk and without Bernie Worrell it wouldn't have been funk oh don't forget Bootsy Collins another creator of all the songs when he step in. George forgot this. His punk ass
Love George but there's obviously a ton of revisionist history in this interview. 20 mins in and I would have corrected him a dozen times already. This just keeps happening as people get older and the interviewers can't possibly know all of the minutia of decades worth of information.
Best George Clinton interveiw I've heard so far 🙌
Thank you! Happy to hear

Mr. George has been a guiding influence in my life for the past 33 years. Thank you for this
George finally being allowed to explain how he combined musical styles like hairstyles. He paid special attention to the younger generations.
When he said how you gotta change music styles like hairstyles it blew my mind. Such a profound thought.
@@gowithelmo The source material reveals here are quite a surprise. I was as shocked as you were. LOL.

@jeffreyhurst7231 James Brown, too. 😆
DassDope interview! 🎉 OMG bar mitzvah 🤯 classical he was sampling everything!
Thank you!
And Funk is it’s own Reward
We need a George Clinton Movie
One is coming produced by Eddie Murphy who is supposed to play George I disagree with him playing him I think it should be lakeith stansfield
@@anthonytaylor7928
I was wondering who could do better than Eddie. Lakeith is a kindred spirit of Weirdo (in the best way).
Tales from the Tour Bus was Dope as sheet!!
GEORGE❤
I went to that Jammy Jam, it was the fucking best 🔥🔥🔥
Yes! Such a legendary night
Thank u

Billy Nelson &ed Hazel only
@ ok sounds about right
Eddie Hazel was co writer on "Shakey Ground"
Keeping it on the one
Eddie Murphy set to GC will be epic.
Can't wait to see it
I disagree I think it should be lakeith stansfield let Eddie Murphy play another part of the movie
He looks younger than he did 40 years ago😂
George Clinton looking like Cedric The Entertainer😁😁😁😁
Easily the best interview of the 20s thus far🤌🏾
Thank you! All love to Dr. Funkenstein

Happy Funkin New Year all you muthafunkaz. Keep that funk alive!
Eddie Griffin should play George Clinton
I disagree it should be lakeith stansfield however Eddie Murphy is gonna play him in which I disagree
The one and only great George Clinton he needs to be on these award shows just like the Mick Jagger's the Elton John's the Rod Stewart's etc
We used to say back in the day, which one is George Clinton. 😆
George, tell us where we can get one of those hats you are wearing.
How about new music from GC? There hasn't been an album in years, although a number of tracks are laying around awaiting release.
Parliament-Funkadelic Thang! 🤘
Wild man
The barmitzva stayed in his head wow this Cat is a Genius
I wish he would have asked about some of the more hard core Funkadelic tracks like Maggot Brain.
I wanted to but we only had an hour. We'll get more in when we do Part 2 one day. Thanks for the thoughts!
❤❤❤
Now the cartoonishment ( if there's such a word) of the world he created with the characters sir nose, dr.funkenstein, it all makes sense now, genuis?

Nobody never ask George whose idea was it to use Handclaps and the monkey drum in songs
Before Platinum, Gold was a Million records sold (some sources say 1 million dollars made) and I think that was singles not albums
