there is no such thing as cheating in art, these challenges are just that, challenges. Not rules. everyone will have their own interpretations of the "rules" and that's okay, especially in cases like yours where they're being used to get out of art block. 9:29 You are not shallow, it is a normal feeling. I have a small youtube channel and sometimes I upload a video of a picture I've worked a lot into and it ends up having less views than other that took me five minutes. Feeling that way is completely normal, it just means that you value your work

This video was another super enjoyable way to pass the time. One of my favourite parts is when you render the hair in the first drawing- it was so satisfying! I also really like the eye shape in the other drawing. Seeing your process of drawing is very helpful and inspiring. When I started drawing and got art block I though I was just really bad at art but I looked back and it helped me to really improve- fixing small mistakes that added up. I love all your videos and it cheers me up whenever I see your videos in my recommendations. (:❤

I’ve been studying anatomy from your art style and it’s been helping me get a better idea of how the human body works (I also study humans too lol). Also I think it’s so cool that you were able to make so many OCs that’s super impressive lol. The painting of the princess/queen? Was so pretty I loved the result! I ABSOLUTELY love your sketchy artsyle, I dont know but i think its a preference for me. I dont do lineart as i do messy lines , so when i see people only using clean up sketches make me so happy. Also the hair shading was so good at the first drawing :D
Rebeka, in case this helps, I always use the Spider-Verse movies to get me out of my art block, or I just look at art books from Disney. Hope this helps out!

For those wanting to do the first art challenge and uses krita like i do i found a work around, use the distort grow brush not the distort move brush or the liquify tool, the distort grow brush works better then the distort move cause it acts as both the distort move brush and the liquify tool combined, hope this helps anyone wanting to do the first art challenge in krita!
I really enjoyed hearing how you used the prompts to break out your particular block. Of the two pieces, the second one is my favorite simply because of the depth of field you were able to achieve. It give it imho more ''living breathing'' feeling. The first looks more like you said, a painting. The second looks like a still from an anime.

Yea I get the feeling of not performing as well. It really sucks when TH-cam (and especially Insta) seem to drive out small content creators in favour of corporations and uhh rich people(ig?). I hope TH-cam lets you out of the algo prison Caus your art is great (you’re a great person in general) and more people need to see you. Especially since you’re one of the only few art creators who are actually kind and don’t encourage any sort of toxicity (your critique videos demonstrate this especially). Also one thing I would like to mention (idk if anyone feels the same), but the intro feels a little bit too mainstream? It lost a bit of character and feels less whimsical compared to the previous one, but that could just be me haha

Im still watching but ma'am, layer modes are not cheating. I will fight whoever thinks this or says this. Yt is dodo as long as your happy with your art were happy. Even if your not happy with it alot of us still are amazed and enjoy your art. I understand the feeling of the views giving motivation thing too. I actually had that when i started my animation stuff (i currently dont know what to animate. Do you have any ideas?). I saw people looking and it made me wanna make more it got me excited and happy and very motivated. Whatever you decide to do, whatever you achieve, whatever you design, we fans will always be proud of you and appreciate you. I think you misunderstood her wondering if the layer modes are cheating! I know Rebekah uses them regularly from watching her videos often. A few seconds after she says this, she says she’s wondering this because with the nature of the challenge, she wasn’t able to darken them without changing the colors in the palette. Multiply and add would change that. (Idk if you realized this after you commented, I just felt the need to let you know :,) )
AOAHHS THESE LOOK SO COOOL! i love whenever u paint ur pieces it definitely gives a different feel in comparison to your more neat artstyle (in the way that the colors usually sit behind the lineart layer only) and also the second piece i really love!! i think you definitely have gotten better at creating more diverse facial features for your characters ^u^ oh and the intro is cute i like it!!

I cannot be certain without the references you used, but they do look like you've taken inspiration from those (heliconia is a genus (think family) of flowers so there's different kind of those, but overall they seem to have most of their characteristics in your drawings). I was just thinking of this challenge recently, so this was so fun to watch and see how you implemented the colors into not only a cohesive picture, but also an interesting character and snapshot of their life and context- I really love how you are so resourceful and creative, and how it just never seems to end!! This video was another super enjoyable way to pass the time. One of my favourite parts is when you render the hair in the first drawing- it was so satisfying! I also really like the eye shape in the other drawing. Seeing your process of drawing is very helpful and inspiring. When I started drawing and got art block I though I was just really bad at art but I looked back and it helped me to really improve- fixing small mistakes that added up.

I’ve been studying anatomy from your art style and it’s been helping me get a better idea of how the human body works (I also study humans too lol). Also I think it’s so cool that you were able to make so many OCs that’s super impressive lol. The painting of the princess/queen? Was so pretty I loved the result! I have had trouble with comparing myself to other artists and I was wondering if you still struggle with it to, and if not how do you overcome it?
Aw, thanks!! I do struggle with comparing myself, especially recently for some reason. So far I have found the best way for me to stop is to just not go on social media for the most part. 😅

I ABSOLUTELY love your sketchy artsyle, I dont know but i think its a preference for me. I dont do lineart as i do messy lines , so when i see people only using clean up sketches make me so happy. Also the hair shading was so good at the first drawing :D

For those wanting to do the first art challenge and uses krita like i do i found a work around, use the distort grow brush not the distort move brush or the liquify tool, the distort grow brush works better then the distort move cause it acts as both the distort move brush and the liquify tool combined, hope this helps anyone wanting to do the first art challenge in krita!
I really enjoyed hearing how you used the prompts to break out your particular block. Of the two pieces, the second one is my favorite simply because of the depth of field you were able to achieve. It give it imho more ''living breathing'' feeling. The first looks more like you said, a painting. The second looks like a still from an anime.
I love the new intro! 🤩 I always feel more burnout and artblocky in the second quarter of school, (its DEFINITELY a curse every year) so its funky fresh (in a good way) to know everyone here is also cursed 😌👍🏽👍🏽

Yea I get the feeling of not performing as well. It really sucks when TH-cam (and especially Insta) seem to drive out small content creators in favour of corporations and uhh rich people(ig?). I hope TH-cam lets you out of the algo prison Caus your art is great (you’re a great person in general) and more people need to see you. Especially since you’re one of the only few art creators who are actually kind and don’t encourage any sort of toxicity (your critique videos demonstrate this especially). Also one thing I would like to mention (idk if anyone feels the same), but the intro feels a little bit too mainstream? It lost a bit of character and feels less whimsical compared to the previous one, but that could just be me haha

I understand the feeling of the views giving motivation thing too. I actually had that when i started my animation stuff (i currently dont know what to animate. Do you have any ideas?). I saw people looking and it made me wanna make more it got me excited and happy and very motivated.

I think you misunderstood her wondering if the layer modes are cheating! I know Rebekah uses them regularly from watching her videos often. A few seconds after she says this, she says she’s wondering this because with the nature of the challenge, she wasn’t able to darken them without changing the colors in the palette. Multiply and add would change that. (Idk if you realized this after you commented, I just felt the need to let you know :,) )

For the flowers, I may be wrong, but they look like some kind of heliconia flowers ? I cannot be certain without the references you used, but they do look like you've taken inspiration from those (heliconia is a genus (think family) of flowers so there's different kind of those, but overall they seem to have most of their characteristics in your drawings). They're mainly from South America

I was just thinking of this challenge recently, so this was so fun to watch and see how you implemented the colors into not only a cohesive picture, but also an interesting character and snapshot of their life and context- I really love how you are so resourceful and creative, and how it just never seems to end!!
Also, I find it an absolute shame that some of the videos you really love aren't doing as well- I find it a little tricky to fathom, if I'm being honest. I feel like if anything, I might like them even more than the ones that "do better" because it shows more of the artist behind the art- it gives more life to whatever the video is about, since you are more passionate about it, if that makes sense?
