When I went natural my mommy & Pop, (Grandparents) Lost their old school minds 🤣 they could not understand WHY I wanted to show The "WORLD" what I was Born with. I'm still natural . Its been a journey for years, but Id rather go through life as me. That's all 🤎🤎
Excellent video! My beautician lost her mind when I told her I was leaving the creamy crack. Celebrating 8 yrs of rocking my natural curly crown and I'll never go back! 💕🥰💕
I only straighten my hair twice a year to get the split ends. All of my important pictures work id, drivers license, graduation photos al have my hair in a Afro
I wore my natural hair for about 4 years and eventually loc'd my hair. Been loc'd for 10 years now. Best decision ever. Made me fall in love with myself deeper. It's definitely a journey because you are forced to go through all of the stages of self acceptance. When you see how differently people treat you, it can be quite difficult to confront but it is eye opening and was one of the biggest challenges of my life but I have no regrets.
My mum gave me so much heat when i went natural, telling me I'm destroying my beautiful hair and that I'll never be able to take care of it, because natural hair is unmanageable. She literally didn't speak to me for days after i cut of the relaxed parts. I've been natural since 2016, and it's going to stay that way.
Years ago, I went from a perm to natural hair to be a role model to my daughter. Best decision ever. My daughter is now 18 and she’s never worn her hair anyway other than natural. I wear my natural hair out daily and I feel more beautiful than ever. And no, I don’t use edge “control” ever and I make my own hair products.
I am a 4c coily natural for 4 years. It took me a minute to learn how to maintain my beautiful crown. Once I found the products that work with my hair baby it was on. I LOVE MY CROWN and I uplift myself EVERYDAY no matter if I get a compliment or not. I look dam good and my crown shines and it’s BIG and COILY. The bigger the better for me. I work in corporate and most of my sisters wear long straight or curly wigs that is not our texture. I feel so FREE wearing my beautiful natural crown…My natural crown is BEAUTIFUL. I wish more black women would take the baby steps needed to feel beautiful in the crown that grows out of their head.
I read a comment saying "natural hair isn't for the weak." Immediately I thought, natural hair is not hard, the manipulations you're forcing it through is what's exhausting you.
So glad I ran up on this yt.. I've gotten to the point where if a Sister is not wearing her own God given hair I STRAIGHT click off.. it seems with this new movement wigs and weaves look so foolishly awkward.. Black women wake up, our hair is uniquely LOVELY❤❤
I don’t mind straight hair the only problem is that a lot of black women act like they can’t live without it and that’s where the issue is. When I can NEVER see your hair in its natural state, is where people need unpack WHY that is
shampoo with clay and acv. deep condition with shea butter/black castor oil/ rosemary oil as a hot oil treatment. keep hair in twists or braids for 4 to 6 weeks. in between spray hair with a aloe/rosemary tea/pepperment combo and shea butter.
I’m not a person of color, but I still wanna say with my whole heart that your hair is beautiful. It is a valid form of self expression and it is YOUR HAIR!! IT IS YOUR SCALP!! YOU CAN DO WHATEVER YOU LIKE WITH IT, AND IF YOU WANNA LEAVE IT IN ITS NATURAL STATE THEN YOU CAN!! YOU ARE VALID AND DESERVING OF LOVE AND RESPECT NO MATTER WHAT YOU LOOK LIKE ♥
I think the only argument I have for natural hair being done or undone are the people who say that rolling out of bed and doing nothing to their hair if it’s in it’s natural state means it’s done just because it’s natural. You can tell the difference between natural hair that’s taken care of and natural hair that’s not. Sure, you don’t have to do a million steps and use a million products to make it look “nice” but at least do SOMETHING. I’m straight natural 70% of the time but I’ve been wearing my hair natural to take breaks since I also bleach and dye my hair. I wash it, detangle it, and out it up in a ponytail/puff and I never do my edges. It looks professional because I do something to it.
I understand what you’re saying. I think most of the women in these TikTok’s are saying how people don’t think natural can be “done” AT ALL and that in itself is rooted in anti blackness and self hate
I mean some people literally are doing their hair in the morning but it still ends up looking like they did nothing to it. Yet, like the other commentor said, someone can style their hair the night before so that in the morning they literally don't have to do anything but take off their bonnet. So unless they're telling you they did nothing to it, you wouldn't really know.
Thank you for bringing this video out. Embracing our natural beauty is difficult for a lot of our sisters. For me I got tired of the heat and the fake hair. Putting out money for products to keep my hair straight. When I was a child all we had was grease and water and hair cream. That's it my hair was strong healthy and manageable. I'm back on that regiment. If there is some kind of code, because my hair intimates some people I use a beautiful head rap. I love the natural look. It saves me money. Amen.... I love my sisters I pray they will reach a time in their life when they reach that point, to embrace, love and take good care of themselves. Amen.❤❤❤
Love this video! As a natural people will always try to tell me that when am going to get my hair done my answer always the same my hair is done. I don’t wear braids, I don’t wear weaves or wigs I only straight my hair once a year some year and blow dry my hair 2 time a year to trim it. This is why I creat my natural hair channel to show case how am wearing my hair incase of people are looking for inspiration. Feel free to check my natural hair channel
Honestly, it was so freeing when i finally stopped relaxing my hair, cut off the damage, and embraced rocking a fro. I worked in Central London at the time and, for the most part, i was the only black woman in the office (im mixed but very obviously black and mostly just mistaken for light skinned). I was sitting in this office of straight and wavy haired people and would could you see? One big ass afro standing out, and i loved it. Thankfully, never received a negative comment on it. I went to the xmas party dressed to the nines with my fro in full form. I will never be embarrassed of my natural hair again. I dont even put chemicals or heat on my hair anymore (no shade to anyone who does, to each their own, its just not for me). I buzzed my hair a few years back so i could regrow from scratch without tampering with it, my hair is full and natural and i feel blessed. I get a lot of compliments on it, actually, from people of different backgrounds
I’m engaged and I decided to rock my natural hair for my wedding next year. I’m going to go to the salon and have them style my natural hair in an updo with some extensions added. I feel like we have to unlearn that only straight hair is suitable for special occasions. Natural hair is suitable for every occasion.
I agree n its hard , i am a work in progress. When u first went natural i was iffy then i love it n get extreme with the bush that was so thick n gorgeous i didn't touch it went swimming n babey , the tangled lol i love a good cute hairstyle like a pink wig but i love my black girl/woman curls ❤ cool vid
8:14 they literally do not represent me. I live in Asia and the locals see black people in Western media wearing wigs and weaves although they don't know that they're wigs and weaves so everyone is convinced that my natural hair is either a wig or a perm. There is hardly any representation of what we actually look like to the point that other people don't know that our real hair isn't straight.
Alot of Black women are diminishing thier beauty trying to look like other people. Our hair is so unique.Relaxing our hair is like an Asian person changing their eye shape.
I have done quite a bit to my hair, silk press, extensions, but i dont do it constantly because i know its not my hair type. I would never dare to toucha relaxer and i revert my silk presses after 2 weeks. This whole braids and extensions constantly weekly fake eyelash appointment is at this point vanity. Let your curls curl and let your coils coil they need to breathe or you wont have hair to silk press or add extensions to "but oh i can wear a wig" thats not your hair!
I see alot of self hate and natural hair rejection in the " straight hair natural" and " heat trained natural" corners of TH-cam as well. Many people would rather make excuses for their actions and the actions of others than entertain the idea that they could possibly hate their hair.
I never had to reinforce that my hair the way it is is beautiful. Even though i grew up in a house that wanted the pressed look. I had a perm at 8. In my 20's I said NOPE. I am 55 now. 😊
I always have this issue mostly from my family if we going somewhere they always on me about my natural hair like are you gonna do something with you hair I’m like my fro is done and they always try to force braids or wigs on me it’s kinda disheartening but most of the time I end up doing a crochet style so I don’t have to hear them say anything 🙄
The tiktok was not extreme and I 100% agree with her. It looks a hot mess and I'm over it. You do what you want on your own time but the minute you're requesting my coin then I expect something.
I don't believe my natural hair is ugly, it's more that I've been convinced other styles are more attractive. I've seen my hair multiple ways now, and although I'm fine with wearing a natural style here and there, I do find myself prettier with braids/twists, wand curls and longer styles. That's just how it is for me.
When I went natural my mommy & Pop, (Grandparents) Lost their old school minds 🤣 they could not understand WHY I wanted to show The "WORLD" what I was Born with.
I'm still natural . Its been a journey for years, but Id rather go through life as me. That's all 🤎🤎
Happy to hear you’re staying true to yourself it’s always harder when your family don’t support you ❤️
My parents did too and now almost every woman in my family is natural now. Even my mom. 😂😂😂❤
Excellent video! My beautician lost her mind when I told her I was leaving the creamy crack. Celebrating 8 yrs of rocking my natural curly crown and I'll never go back! 💕🥰💕
Amen ❤

Congratulations! 🥳 it’s always worth it!
@beingpractical5253 Yes, it is! Thank you! 😊
I only straighten my hair twice a year to get the split ends. All of my important pictures work id, drivers license, graduation photos al have my hair in a Afro
Same, but I straighten my hair a lot more during the winter

Oh of course you can’t love it all over night it takes time

Good! I’m so happy that you didn’t let that painful experience discourage you from wearing your natural hair! ❤️

Period! 🗣️
It be our own people. It’s very to see if our natural hair is cared for. I love my curly frizzy hair. It’s absolutely beautiful.
It’s always our own people unfortunately. It’s extremely sad that the enemy is always within

The worst ones are the ones that wear bright straight blond wigs. It looks so comical

I think it depends because if you did your hair the night before you generally do get to roll out the door.

Agreed! Growing up we had blue magic water and pink lotion lol I’m back to the blue magic bc it’s always been reliable and my hair loves it

It VERY freeing once you just let go and figure out there was nothing wrong with your natural hair in the first place ❤️

Media has a way of making us feel isolated and alone

Lets get into it!!!
Natural, relaxed, it dont matter. But the wigs and braids are looking crazy
True especially the wigs. It’s in no way financially feasible (unless you’re a celebrity) to even keep it up
Give me a 1000 braids over 1 cancer causing nasty relaxer.
I disagree I love me some braids! Especially in cute patterns!
@charmaineespeut4627 braids are cute. But I'm talking more about the ones that are too tight and be having people's hairlines behind their ears lolol
@@Handlename726 Oh yeah I agree then the tight ones suck
