Yes! Very perceptive. Buffy is a much better fighter because she does (on the rare occasion) meet enemies who are as strong or stronger than her, so she's used to requiring her skills and resourcefulness, rather than just brute strength in battle (note the move where she kicks the couch into Glory). But as a God, Glory is so unbelievably strong and durable that she's never HAD to dodge a punch before. This does make Buffy much more skilled in battle. I enjoy their fight scenes because it's like watching a tiny expert martial artist fight an absolute hulk of a bar brawler.
The monks sent the Key to Buffy in the form of Dawn so that she would protect it without knowing what it was, and more importantly, wouldn't draw attention to herself for defending it. Buffy defending her sister with her life is understandable. Buffy defending a fire hydrant or something with her life would tend to stick out.
Chris figured we'd get a montage of Willow learning how to defeat Glory in the end, but that is not how Willow works and that is not how Willow has related to magic over the years. She is impulsive, emotional, and she expects magic to fix sh*t. In addition to this, she IS getting more powerful with each passing season. She got "stomped on", yes, but even temporarily holding your own against a God is crazy stuff compared to the floating pencil days of season 3. It is that combination of increasing power and emotional instability that Tara was reacting to, I think, with her "frightened"-comment.
I think Tara also noticed the way willow treats magic as a fix all trick. But she probably wasn’t planning on bringing it up outrightly hence the “frightened” comment
It's interesting to see how people who haven't seen the show reason at this point isn't it? Personally, I think you have to watch this series at LEAST twice to really appreciate the way it's written. It's taking on the real heavy subjects and the second time around you see all the signs so much earlier. It's brilliant.
I get the sense Tara had never really considered Willow as being in a phase - that was Willow’s insecurity bubbling up, but once she voiced that Tara had to worry about why Willow was worried about it. Tara was worried about Willow’s reliance and growth in magic, and Willow didn’t want to talk about that. So she pulled out another issue preying on her.
I think Tara saying "Should I?" [be worried] confirmed Willow's analysis. The former always had issues w/ self-esteem, hence it makes sense that one of her fears is being left behind by the person that she feels was a gift to her.
I'm not remotely on team Ben, but I will say in terms of the "It's not fair!" tantrum in the locker room, I don't think he meant it was unfair that he was fired, I think he was raging that it was unfair he had to share his body, that Glory's takeovers are derailing his dreams. And... he's not wrong... definitely not a typical obstacle for a med student. (Note: haven't watched this episode for a long time so if I'm fully wrong, and he makes it clear that he actually IS thinking the doctor/hospital was unfair for daring to fire him after missing two weeks... then just ignore this.)
the problem is that they pretty much exhausted the resources on glory why they got the council involved in the first place. Willow has been doing spells throughout the season at the cost of her own health to stop glory, putting up like alert spells, teleporting her into the sky etc. I think why willow didn't necessarily have to "Research" b4 she took on glory is she already had an arsenal in mind. Again I love how Spike can read a situation better than most of the humans on the show.
I love on rewatch how much you take for granted that they set up. Dawn asked Giles where the dark magic books and also when the Council interrogated Giles, you know they are building the world so you know when Willow runs to up the bookcase, you know exactly what is up there without a bunch of exposition.
@@jp3813 you know what is stored up there already - it be weird or feel clunky to explain in the scene how she knows where to find the dark stuff - and let’s face it to the council’s point why that book is so easy to access. Things have already been established prior to this episode in a more natural way than the need to spew a bunch of exposition a head of time in the episode.
@@notoriouslybratty Well, they made a big deal about how resurrection spells are forbidden only for Willow to immediately reveal out of nowhere that she already has a book that contains one in her own room. Hence, a reveal about her digging up a "Darkest Magick" book wouldn't be surprising at all.
"I'd do it. Right person. Person I loved." And, in fact, he did in the last episode--for Buffy. And Buffy told Willow she wouldn't last 5 minutes. 5 minutes was almost exactly how long Willow lasted before Buffy had to rescue her.
Marketa's comment about the writing being "unfocused " is completely unjustified, IMO. I'd say Season 5 has the most focused, refined writing of the entire series. At this point, the gang has researched and even reached out to the council and gathered ALL the information possible. This is just the first time in the show where that is not enough. We've never seen a villain near as powerful as Glory. That's what makes the stakes so high. They don't know what to do. And the answer isn't in any book.
That’s why I think Glory is one of the best villains in the series and took the show to a level it hasn’t been before. Every villain before Buffy had either a fear or respect for her because she was the slayer, and even though some were stronger Buffy was always confident in facing them. Then arrives Glory who in their first 2 fights absolutely stomps Buffy without breaking a sweat, then learn that she is a god. No villain has ever shattered Buffy’s confidence prior and as a result made the stakes higher than they had ever been. Even Willow when juiced on dark magic and getting more powerful was only effective for a hot second before getting creamed. Her goal for the key also made it personal for Buffy. Season 5 has brilliant writing, and this season feels like a well chartered book that just flows.
Willow grabbed all the weapons she had available..at her current level, she could only read or absorb so much, so if a knife or two can multiply into a whole bunch of knives, of course she’ll use them..
Tara is incredibly brave in this episode .Her hand has been crushed by Glory and Glory says Tell me who the Key is and you see this stubborn look on Tara's face -she refuses to say anything .Tara is a Hero.Or Superhero since she is a very powerful Witch. This season- they thought it might be their last so it has one hell of a Finale.
What's so terrible about the ending is that Tara refused to tell Glory anything about who the key was before Glory drained her so that Tara's the one who ends up revealing that Dawn is the key after all.
9:03 I think he ran off to Spain with his secretary. That seems to be what most teen drama missing fathers seem to do. 10:21 Love the way Giles gets them to turn away before he 'goes Ripper' on Glory's minion. 16:48 I don't know if they ever crucified witches, they rarely burned them at the stake, either. Hanging was the punishment for witchcraft (although they may well have burned the body afterwards). Burning was the punishment for heresy.
Loved watching glamourous Glory ripping the wall off Buffy's house. Its more of a violation than the occasional home invasion/broken furniture schtick.
I think we should note that with this show, dealing with Tara and Willow, the writers use their sexuality literally but also metaphorically. Cause Willow found herself in not only magic but in Tara and the show intertwines this. So before Willow met Tara she was very different and was also straight, but after finding magic and Tara and growing more powerful the show used that to bring up an issue in their relationship of Willow possibly changing again as she's growing not only in magic like before but also in personality, one Tara is frightened by and hasn't witness in Willow, possibly attributing that to who Willow used to be before her. Plus there are past episodes of Tara not verbally saying but showing concern when Willow has jumped at the chance to use magic over the traditional way. Just my take on their argument lol
I think we can understand Willow wanting to use her magic powers to avenge Tara, but we can see it's also getting out of control. Even though Glory is a very entertaining Big Bad we tend to forget how utterly cruel and evil she is. We are beginning to see the slight fracturing of the Tillow relationship, and once Glory now knows Dawn is the key it will be hard for the Scoobies to save her. You are in for three brilliant closing episodes to S5 with a superb, stunning finale unmatched in the whole show.
I recall in another video saying that they may as well just build the Magic Shop out of Legos at this point. We'll that applies to Buffy's house too, Glory totaled the shit out if it. Ya'll keep talking about Warren building more robots, get over it, that dude is gone. You guys will NEVER see that dude again for the rest of the series, honest

The thing that makes (ok, one of the things) this show so great is the changes, the maturing, the characters actually developing together, becoming adults..this season was such a horrible vise like constant increase of pressure on Buffy, I’ve seen the series so many times now, and like a great piece of symphonic music every time I rewatch I see something new, make new connections, enjoy it in a new way. The constant increase of pressure on Buffy is central to this season, and I can’t comment further about that without spoilers, but you’ll see..soon.. I really miss this show..! I just finished Ragnarok on Netflix, it’s worth watching, although like many shows without spoilers I’ll just say I greatly enjoyed it but am very angry about some choices they make. Got hooked on Night Action, or Night Desk whatever about the agent in the WH basement answering the phone, it’s great so far first couple episodes..I just got a dog 6 months ago so haven’t really been watching much tv..
Chris is back! There wasn't any research on Glory, but then The Watchers Council came and Giles read all of it. Said research didn't say how to kill Glory, though. So, now it's been about finding a way to eventually be able to use said research. But then real life issues of death and robots and get them side-tracked. A lot of people forget Buffy's in school. I think that's why the writer's wrote a scene where she leaves rather than just saying she leaves. It would be easier to miss a line of dialogue over a scene showing it. Willow really doesn't get it. To the point of fighting with Tara about it and turning the whole situation on into something its not. That's why their fight escalated and did so, quickly. Willow just doesn't get it. On top of that, the writers had already had to con the higher-ups into accepting a lesbian romance, which put them on a short leash during a time when these storylines weren't always easy to talk about in society let alone in pop culture. But the under arc from Buffy being upset at Dawn "not studying" to Willow storming out is that Willow doesn't comprehend all the issues other people have and mis-interprets them to the point of creating problems not there or that if they are there don't become as easily fixed in the situation with Willow agitated and upset. Suaj had it right when he said the two issues Willow and Tara fought about were two different things and were unintentionally brought together into an escalated fight. Buffy is probably already on thin ice for Dawn cutting herself, whether Joyce was alive at the time or not. So Dawn not going to school is huge. I get Dawn not understanding as a freshman in high school, but Willow not getting that shows another way Willow's always been more book/good grade smart than worldly smart. "You could have told me that," is a very fourteen year old thing to say even when Buffy just found out herself. Not showing the Ripper side of Giles was genius. It works on the threat level Giles can be very well. The moment where Willow is trying to get to Tara while Glory is brain-sucking her is filmed very well. I always try to look around all the passing pedestrians, before realizing what I'm doing. Buffy is incredibly in denial about love in general when she is purposely putting herself in that position over her own relationships, is how I see it. With her and Angel she wasn't willing to see th obvious as people were telling her point blank what issues the relationships had while at the same time didn't notice Cordelia, Xander, Willow, and Oz's relationship-al issues in early S3 until she was told, while now she is in such denial about her attraction to Spike she doesn't realize Willow will go after Glory after being told how dangerously bad an idea it is. Glory knows who the key is because Willow went after her for vengeance after Buffy said that wasn't a good idea and everyone who dicided Tara and Dawn could be in the same room once Tara was insane is also responsible. So the fault lies with Glory first and foremost, then Willow, then Buffy and Dawn, but as Dawn is fourteen, I don't put her at fault. Willow and Buffy should've known better.
@@antoniolamounier temporarily yeah, but I mean for the effort Willow put in Glory quite literally brushed it off and sustained no injuries. There was no visible sign of damage. And for all that she did, Glory threw a table at willow to take her down.
@@antoniolamounierFor a split second but even still I think people overhype Willow’s effectiveness on her. Glory was only slowed down for a few seconds because she underestimated Willow. After that, Glory wasn’t even trying and laughed off every attack Willow threw at her. Glory without trying or taking Willow seriously still absolutely stomped her. Sure it was the first time Glory had really been affected by anything, but not even close to beating her and Willow still got owned. If anything that fight was more of a testament to Glory than Willow. Willow was juiced on powerful dark magic, had basically overtaken Buffy in power level when juiced, and still didn’t even last a minute with Glory who didn’t take her seriously.
Between Joyce's passing and Tara's current mental state, this season has gone DARK!

If you pay attention Glory never dodges, she always takes the full hit and as Buffy learns that she starts to swing wider to hit as hard as she can.

Jeez, Spencer, you were so close! "Tara-FRYING Developments!"
I love this season and all of us who know about Willow & where this is going.

capitalism and communism, through the eyes of the ex-demon Anyanka! 😂❤
Spoilers... Do not read until after Season 7 episode 18 (about a year from now).
"Seeing Eye Xander"... Unknowing foreshadowing.
I feel like the writers didn't know what to do with Tara!!🤷🏿♂️
Suraj is right, Warren could really help them.
Other shows u guys should react to is psych and scrubs
The fights were dumb, but that's how fights are.
Oh no... Surely the worst thing that will ever happen to Tara, right?
Anya is right
It’s gonna be hard to pay attention to what’s going on the show when you run your damn mouth the whole time
willow did nothing to her lol 😂 glory just eats everything its why i love her character so much shes just deadly asf and basically unstoppable
Willow did hurt her. She even says “that which slowed me down”.
@@antoniolamounier temporarily yeah, but I mean for the effort Willow put in Glory quite literally brushed it off and sustained no injuries. There was no visible sign of damage. And for all that she did, Glory threw a table at willow to take her down.
Basically Darth Vader. When Glory shows up, run.
All that for a drop of blood? - Thanos/Glory
Yeeeaaaah, evil Willow are coming!
Great episode.
Weak reaction.
Tara dies next season i seem to remember , it's SO sad when she's shot 😢 .
Jeez..purposely spoiling? Editors or moderators remove!
